A long time friend of mine (who isn't a big believer in supernatural occurences, but neither am I) had told me of an Ouija board that her mother (also a person firmly rooted in RL) had once owned.
The story goes that the mother tried to get rid of the thing multiple times by throwing it away, but each time it would return to its place on a bookself.
When my friend's mother finally took the board outside and burnt it, she said that the ouija board let loose a shriek as it went up in flames. And whats really weird is that after the fire burnt out, there were charred bones where the board had lain. Bleh...
I'm not a big believer in scary stories, so to speak, but I have heard of similar occurrences with other 'possessed' objects. They all seem to keep coming back after being repeatedly thrown or given away and have also heard of objects burned screaming.
So what I'm wondering is if anyone else has either experienced or heard of similar events. Blame it on morbid curiosity.

Thats true,everytime I've tried a ouija board only gobbledeegook is presented.

People always harp on about the dangers of mucking around with dark forces and evil spirits but all the times Ive tried it nothing happens and I always try it with all the right conditions and with a real board.(Ive tried it in a graveyard too with no spooky results)
Or maybe the ghosts are writing in a foriegn,ancient text that we cant read!

I only ever had one weird experience with a ouija board, any other time I did'nt get anything. I don't mess with them anymore, although I did buy one recently beacuse I like the way they look, I like the art on them. (it's a glow in the dark one too.) which leads me to the question, if they are so unpredictable, why do Toys R Us sell them? (well here in the states, I know they don't in the UK).

I heard so many stories and tales......yet everytime I get the board out...it seems the spirits have run away. I've sat for hours and nothing. Some psychic friends have told me that I scare the spirits. If I do, I sure as hell don't know why! and yes...I use a good deoderant!

I few years ago my friend and i were playing around with a Ouija board and we thought we had got ahold of something or someone, but we didn't really belive so we started making fun of it and calling it fake and stuff like that....well we ended up making it mad so we told it to show us a sign that one of us wast moving it....a few moments later the entire room turned blood red. Neither of us has touched one since that day.

Personally I think the boards' purpose is kinda hoax-ie, maybe things just choose from time to time to appear to some and not to others (i.e. the purpose beings so that you think things that go bump in the night don't exist...) anyways, who knows why ToysRus keeps the nasty things...

Using that board is a combination of Safe and Unsafe.
It is not recommended because thousands of people fall on the Unsafe side.
You recommend it to a person, you will be responsible if something bad happen.

Apparently, ouija boards don't have that much truth! Your hands move because you secretly want them too, so you can encounter something spooky. You don't realise, but you are moving whatever yourself.

I think that the board itself may be like a gateway for 'things'. I personally make it a point never to bring home with me horror books or movies because it invites demonic influences.
Call me crazy, but to me the spiritual realm is in many ways more real than that in which we live (ours is only temporary, the spiritual realm is eternal)

i have a couple of questions...who is an expert?? okay heres my story. i have played the ouija bored a couple of times..and the bored answers quickly. it has given me the same answer more than once. does this mean that the answer i got is going to be accurate..?

I dont think they work,there more of a trick.I dont really believe in ghosts can exist in cyberspace,and maybe not in reality either.I think ghosts can be left over energy and not spiritual.

I've been using Ouija boards for a long time. Sometimes interesting things happen, and sometimes nothing happens. It's those weird interesting things that make me keep coming back.

The first time I ever used one was at a friends house. She claimed that this evil spirit named "Z" followed her and would show up everytime she played with a Ouija board. I laughed, skeptically. I had never used one and was fascinated at the idea that a spirit "followed" her. So we made our own out of a piece of paper and a shot glass. We drew the alphabet, "yes," "no," "hi," and "bye," and anything else that we thought a spirit would like to get across like, "happy," "mad," and "sad." It was an interesting experiment. We all placed our fingers on the board and waited....and waited....laughed, and waited. Then, there he was..."Z" had arrived.
My friend spoke to it like it was an old friend, but she hated "Z." So, I started asking it questions. I mocked it and teased it. Asked it questions that would piss anyone off. I seemed to be getting accross because it was getting very irritated, swirling around and around and around, rushing to the "mad" word. We stopped for a while. I was having a lot of fun and wanted more. So, I decided to pull out a bible, a tape of happy on-the-road car songs, and we marched into her room and decided to "love" Z away. By love I mean piss him off until he left on his own. To ensure pissing him off I made a new Ouija board that did not have the word "bye" on it. That way he couldn't leave until we allowed him too.
Sure enough there he was and we started the happy car song music, my friends sang along while I read from the bible. Swirling and swirling, mad, mad, mad, no, no, no..he got angrier and angrier! We sang loudly, telling him how much we "adored" him. Then all of a sudden All of the lights in the entire house started Flashing on.........off, on.........off.......on.........off........on/off, on/off........My friends clung to me and let go of the shot glass we were using. I quickly grabbed a pen and wrote "Bye" on the board. I yelled at them to put their hands back! They finally did, the glassed raced to the "bye" and the lights came back on.
Her mother rushed in to see what was going on (she was dying her hair at the time). Her aunt came in from a smoke break and told us the porch light was on the whole time.....she didn't even know anything had happened.

So, things do happen if you really push it, you just have to have good protective energy around you, and expect bad things to happen if you ask for proof! Other things have happened since then......But this is my first experience. I hope you enjoyed!

Because not everyone thinks bad things can happen...if it's ''just a toy'',then it's okay to sell,right?Since bad things don't happen every time,and there are lots of sceptics,they will sell them as long as parents and bored teenagers will buy them.
Most just don't realize the danger.

A few of my friends were really into these boards, I got curious and joined them one day. The whole time I sat there thinking, "What am I doing?" I couldn't help but think "what big bogees"

Maybe Ouija boards are really sensitive to the enviroment in which they are used. You may have better results in an older house then a new one. Playing with someone who has strong supernatural vibes. Your mindset when you begin playing....lot's of different factors. It's the only explaination as to why it works with some people and not with others.

OUIJA BOARDS are like telephones calling the devil spirit realm. Years ago, a parapsychology friend from India told me not to play with them. But, I did.
She was right.

The devil spirit realm tricks you, that's all. No prosperity comes from it. Just tricks-- some could harm you.

My mom played with one as a teen and the table came up off the floor. Somehow I doubt that, "was in the wrist".

My older half-sister had a bad experience with them when she was a teenager. It is best to stay away from them. If you don't know what you are doing; you are inviting trouble.

My sister and her friend certainly did and haven't gone near one ever again.

I know from personal experience that they are real. For my real grandmother was a witch and sent me the board after I was adopted as a reminder of her. My mother said I couldn't have it but my father behind her back let me. My brothers of course always like sneaking in my room to go thru my stuff. Well the oldest of my brothers snuck in and played wtih it. Of course we didn't find out till about 6 weeks later when he jumped out of his bed one night screaming that a demon was haunting him and described him and everything. We took him to the hospital and he became obsessed and said a demon had been talking to him for weeks and said he told him to do all kinds of things, which I won't say... My uncle which is a preacher was asked to come to house without knowing of the circumstance and the minute he stepped into our house, he immediatly left and came back with the hairs on him standing up saying our house was surrounded by demons and asked if we possessed anything that would do this. My brother spoke up and told him about finding the board that my mother didn't want me having and told how it flew across the room by jumping out of his hands and how this one demon has been haunting him. I didn't think my brother would ever recover. We put little gold crosses put on the windows, we were annointed with holy water and the house was too and was also blessed by our uncle. That is the most terrifying thing I have ever seen or gone thru. Worst part is, my brothers and I would go hop into our parents bed cuz we was scared and one night me and my brother seen a neon green mist walking past our parents bedroom in the human form. That was only time I seen something that supernatural. Well it was 2nd time actually. But ya, they are evil. My mother tried burning it but it wouldn't so she threw it away and i took it and put it in a old abandon shack on the farm sealed up in a lock box. Wanna know why? It's a antique. Actually a ancient antique. It's dated from 1872 and is made out of dark wood with the quiji itself being made out of wood, even though it has no eye glass peice. I want to get it someday when I go dwon there and have it here. For I beleive it will be fine as long as it's not touched and is put up. For I would probably put it somewhere outside where it can't be ruined or bothered with.

When I was younger, I used to play with one with my brother, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened, much to my dismay. Then, I saw the movie Witchboard, and promptly threw my board away. My mother fished it out of the garbage and asked why I pitched it, and after I told her, she said the only way to dispose of an Ouija board was to burn it. Well, that just freaked me out even more. To this day, the dang things make me nervous.

I have never played on one before, but I have only heard bad stories about these things.

My experience has been that the boards are sensitive to people's energy...the fewer people that used it, the more mumbled and harder it to read. Also, it won't work if people are goofing off and not serious about it.

I've had some really fascinating experiences with it, most of it profoundly good, and very few things bad. First of all, we would bless the board, and ask for nothing but good spirits and angels to talk to us (assuming they existed). The board didn't work until I suggested that our guardian angels talk to us. Almost immediately the cursor started moving and we could ask it all questions. It foretold the future, gave advise, and was mostly very loving in its messages. It's been a few years since I've used it, just because I ran out of questions ( I exhausted it that much).

I think that it has the potential to be scary and dangerous, but if used wisely and correctly, then good things can come from it too. If you have a bunch of skeptical, wise-cracking people who don't know who or what to ask for, they could get anything. One of the things I learned was to be very specific with what I asked and who I asked from. Most of our sessions with our supposed guardian angels, and I have to say, whether they really were or not, they truly had some wonderful things to say and great encouragement.

Everyone always says, "stay away, they're bad", well, you could say that about a lot of things that can have negative consequences when used unwisely. Cars can be dangerous, but you don't stop driving them because of that...you just make sure you drive carefully. Alcohol can have horrible effects, but people don't stop drinking, they instead make sure of how much they drink. Same thing with the oiuja board-yes there are negative things that can result from it, but that doesn't mean there are no good things about it...you just have to choose which aspect you want to experience. It is not evil. Just be smart about how you use it.

Everytime I use the Ouija board with friends, all it does it say what I'm thinking. Which I don't understand at all, I thought it was supposed to communicate what the 'dead' is saying and not my thoughts, but it's rather annoying.

I will not let that game come into my house, i have two son 24 and 19 that bought that game and brought into my house as soon as i found it i burned it. i have never played it but from storys i have heard i will never touch it. after i burned it starnge things happened to me, i had three recks almost died in one, my house cought on fire.. that right there was enough proof for me.. Was it the board ???????? i don't know but do not want to find out.

A month after my dad had died, a friend of mine brought one round to the flat I was living in at the time. We had a go & I actually thought I was talking to my dad on it. Anyway my friend left it at my flat & as I was a bit freaked out by it, I asked a couple of my other friends to take it home with them. They then burnt it as they didn't believe that it was a healthy thing for me to be participating in, in the grief- stricken state I was in & worried that I may become addicted to it. I don't actually believe that I was talking to my deceased father but that it was a case of mind of over matter as subconsciously I wanted to talk to him desperately. Not so long after(about six mths) I had moved into my parents house & used to have alot of friends hang out there, we dabbled in home made ouija, with paper(letters of the alphabet, numbers etc.) & a glass. The things that were said when we supposedly contacted spirits were not nice(one saying that I was going to die a hot death. Makes me shudder to this day). I got totally paranoid & was scared to be alone in my house. I have never touched anything of that nature since! I don't know if what took place was true or if it may have been some sort of group hysteria, I don't like to analyse it too much!

Have any of you ever heard of Path Finders or Angel Boards? They are similar to Ouija boards, but have a lot more positive energies. They are meant to give you good advice instead of telling you that you are going to die. I have a Path Finder, and I love it! It really has given me great advice! It uses symbols and the alphabet. Very cool. I recommend them.

I'm still new here but I will let you know of one of the scariest times I've ever tried the Ouija board. I used to live in Nova Scotia and in the Fall we get some pretty bad weather. During the "tail end" of a hurricane one night, I had three friends over because my father was working late and did not want me to be alone. My friends brought over two movies, a bunch of movies, and a Ouija board. We were getting into one of the movies and the power went out. We were a little freaked out, as there was a pounding storm outside, wind, rain, thunder and lightning. My friend decided it was time to set up the Ouija board. As we were setting it up, the power kept flickering off and on because of the wind outside. Only two of us decided to play. We were taking turns asking questions and everything seemed fairly normal. At one point, we asked some questions and the power came back on and scared the $%*& out of us because the stereo was still on from the movie and it was really loud!! I went over to shut of the stereo, leaving my friend by himself on the Ouija board. When I turned around, his face was bright red and he said "the palette is throbbing!" I went over to touch it and it flew across the room and hit the wall. As soon as it hit the wall, the power went out again. Of course my friend got super scared and grabbed the Ouija board and decided to try and burn it. He got the corner but it only sparked and travelled the way down all sides. When it sparked the last time, a huge bright light came out of the wall and drifted up towards the ceiling to where my dad's room was. After that, all night, all we could hear were loud footsteps walking around. What makes it worse it that my friend lives up the street and his mom came banging on the door wondering if we were all ok. She said she saw my house illuminate from were she was. Needless to say, the footsteps never stopped and my dad sold the house a year later.

i have had many experiences with an ouija board. me and my two friends use it all the time, and as crazy a sit seems it always seems to work. we have made friends with a spirit and he answers questions for us, and even read our minds. we got really freaked out one time. all three of us were at sedonas house and the spirit said we'd be with her until 5, well we didnt understand that considering my mom was going to pick me up around 3, and she demanded it was 3. so we were in the car on our way home, and we get a call from a friend to go mini golfing, with sedona also, so we go, and sedona was supposed to leave at 430, but her ride came late, closer to 5. you could say it was a coincidence, but i think not. i have many more storeys also, you can message me if you want. but ouija boards are the real thing. do not doubt it.
