well nobody in the area has found out wht this creature is yet, so its a potential cryptid...

most likely an alligator or a crocodile though....

Walken
Uh-huh. But you never know. I try to keep open-minded on all subjects.
wcturnersr
I can't see an gator or croc swimming around in water that cold. Even the temp. down here right now in south Louisiana is still too cold for them to come out. I won't see a gator for at least another month or 2.
Canadian Rottweiler
Without pics,or more reports, nobody is gonna actually believe it.COuld be,but i doubt it is anything weird...
ALNA70
It's an interesting story, but I won't get too excited about it until there are more reports and perhaps a picture or 2.

Exactly.
Walken
agreed
XSAS
I agree with Canadian Rotti... without pics or anything to back it up, it has no substance.
mr_halo

well every cryptid starts off with one sighting rolleyes.gif

plus a dodgy, blurry photo does not make a cryptid anymore real

Walken
It makes it more beleiveable than no photo at all.
MJB222
And yet another lake monster. At least they think its an animal thats still living today.
Mysteryman
I'd have to say its an alligator/crocodile that can withstand the freezing temperatures...
Walken
But alligators and crocodiles can't. Could it be a freak? Or could it be an evoloutinary break off?
Mysteryman
It could be a new species of either an alligator or crocodile that can adapt to the ability of living in the waters its not used to, freezing temperatures.

Very true,i would rather have a pic of one than not, gives some credibility.

A gharial possibly...

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it! But now I'm convinced there is some kind of alligator living in Lake Washington.

My friend and I paddled the Western shore of Lake Washington from the 520 bridge to the I90 bridge and back today in a double kayak. About mid-way back, we saw what we thought was a log ahead of us a ways, like a mostly submerged log where all you can see is part of one end floating slightly above the water, so we altered our course slightly to avoid hitting it. It stayed absolutely still as we approached it, until we got quite close, then it suddenly submerged itself! This caught us by surprise and we both exclaimed to each other at the same time, "What the hell was that!"

It was no turtle, no fish, no bird, no sea lion, no muskrat no otter, no beaver.

We floated there for 10 minutes or so, hoping for another sighting. The "thing" came up twice slightly behind us - over one shoulder and then the other - but would submerge back into the water just as my head was turning in it's direction. I know it was the same critter (as opposed to a fish jump) because it made the same water noise and left the same tell-tale water ripples after submerging.

I hadn't heard about the alligator sighting on the eastern side of the lake until after I saw it. And now that I've heard there have been other reports, I'm sure that's what we saw as well.

One thing is for sure. I'm going to think twice about swimming in the lake this year!

Mysteryman
This site explains that some specific alligators/crocodiles can survive in freezing waters in the arctic - so my theory has some supportive details. Check it out:

I agree. Probably a separate kind of croc or aligator that can withsatnd these temperatures. original.gif
Mysteryman
Yeah - I mean if an article can say it exists, theirs really no question about if it could live in the freezing temperatures so I'd just say its an alligator/crocodile thats just swimming in a particular lake...
Walken
Agreed. Like I said, this could be something completly differnt though.

You never know.

that seems to me the most common theory....

although i have no idea how well suited that kind of animal would be to the lake in question, but who knows....

Hmm...

I haven't heard of this... and I live a stones throw from the lake...

Though, I'm not surprized if it is an aligator... people are bloody stupid to keep them as pets still... and this place has been warm enough for one.

well you'd think a neighbour to the lake would be aware of this, so perhaps theres nothing to the story afterall...

although an abandoned pet gator is always a possibility....

Of course we won't get any pictures because we all know that cryptids are magical and seem to vanish from the shot, being replaced by an indiscernable blur!

This reminds me of this monster movie i saw about a giant alligator or a crocodile. I think this is a very interesting story.

Well in reading it without any pics its hard to say but it is possible that a croc does live there, as well i know that some do buy them as pets and flush them down toilets and could even drop them in a lake.

Yeah they have some huge sturgeon at the TN Aquarium. yes.gif And they are ugly! Crocs get bigger than 15 feet, don't they?
How big was that one in that documentary that they tried to catch...I know you know what I'm talking about...I can't think of it's name now....The scientists tried to catch it using goat as bait but they had to leave the country before they were able to catch it....
