I would not be so quick to judge a book by its cover. I believe Christians are supposed to be the first to agree with that. I have only had a couple of interactions with Burnside on this forum, and he has always been more than hospitable and willing to help.

Doubt God has time for those who would point a firearm at anything or anyone. He expects contact, why? How does he know there has not been contact? Just because him and Jesus dont sit around the table every weekend playing cards, that means there has been absolutlely no contact in 1800 years?

Seriously though, as you weren't asking me but the one you were asking often stands mute, I'll give it a shot. (pun, yes I know). I think the VP had it arranged. He hated JFK in real life and made not a lot of bones about it when they were not to make those "make nice" public appearances together.
I think he arranged it because J. had a vision for America that he was not about to tolerate, and while alive that was a vision that had a great deal of support from those that followed the leadership J. represented.
