You know what we need? A new religion... one similar to what Turtle commented on earlier: A church of Self-Belief (or Self-Actualization).
People should take responsibility and accountability for their existence and actions.
People need to accept that "bad things" happen to all of us, and you need to remain calm and just deal with issues head-on (and not waiting around for someone else to intervene).
A strong enough following might be able to over-throw the immenant disaster brewing within the U.S. Gov't.

Isn't that the New Age movement or Scientology? I think people have tried--but I don't see it working that well.

Hoagy.....Bang on!
I live in Canada, and am currently working on a business plan for a spiritual based business. Courtesy of Stats Canada
In identifying my target market, I came across some startling info.
In Canada 19% ( one in 5)of the population now puts NO religion down as their religious choice, in the sensus. Up a whopping 41% in 5 years.
What is also of interest is the breakdown of the age groups.
1-15----58% claimed NO Religion, up 253% in 5 years,
15-24---37% claim NO religion up 53% in 5 years
25-44---(largest portion of pop.) 38% No-----42% increase ( Baby generation 0-15)
25-64---28% claim no religion 13% increase
65-84---4% claim no religion----=-4% increase
Further edit:
1 in 3 now claim that they have not attended a religious service in over a year.
The new revolution has begun...Hang on to your hats boys and girls
