Study: Good-Looking Crooks Get Off Lighter

OSLO (Reuters) - Good-looking criminals are likely to get lighter sentences even when people only have a written description of their looks, a Norwegian study showed on Monday.

The 500 university students surveyed handed down far milder punishments for crimes by a man described as "handsome" or a woman described as "pretty" than when the word was left out.

Well, for the same crime, I would be executed. Twice.

Similar studies have shown the men with a second Y chromosome tend to get harsher sentences. These XYY men are often taller and less attractive and the thought is that they present an imposing presence in court so judges and juries are a little more harsh on them since they look "more criminal".
