Full Version: Getting Stupid.
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Unexplained Mysteries > Cryptozoology, Myths and Legends
DarkSide
No offense, I just need to rant, but the UM Cryptid forums are getting utterly stupid, with Vampires, and gene splicing, Mythical Creatures etc.

I want to hear about things I haven't heard of before, instead of stupid things like "I SAW CHUPACABRAA!!!!11". I want stuff like when I was newish like the Diplocalus picture, that strange crab creature, not something about how Vampires are real and "Which cryptid would win in a fight?"

Lets look at this. These are my believings which are more common sense then theory.

Summing up of Vampires: Creepy kids that need friends and sunlight, creepy people that need to be locked away, vampire bats.

Summing up Chupacabra: Chupacabra has pretty much been disregarded now, because its been everything from dead animals, sticks, models, photoshop, and a possum. It seems that all Chupacabras look different from eyewitnesses. Some fly, some have scales, some have fur. Which is it? If Chupa does exist its very slim.

Summing up Mythical Creatures: And they lived happily ever after, the end. There not called Mythical for nothing.

Genetic Engineering: Its all fun to think of what it would look like if someone mixed a zebra with a turtle, etc, but it just can't be done. If you have ever gone through Grade 9 you'll know that you need a very similar host species, with the same chromosone count. Without the Same chromosones the offspring will become a genetic mutant and most likely not live. Also most species engineered so far (ex. Ligers/Tigons and Mules) are STERILE meaning they can't reproduce even if they have the sex cells, they will never produce a zygote. Which means they would have to keep making them for the 'species' to survive.

Sorry. Not meaning to crush anyones dreams and hopes, but I just had to rant, because the stupider UM gets the more it makes me want to leave. Without a continuos stream of interesting topics, it gets very boring.

In my opinion, it's refreshing to hear of mythological creatures and the possibilities of creating new, unseen species.
Retreading the same old cryptids time after time gets somewhat boring. I can understand when a new member joins, that we may see the same old threads, but it seems as if people that have been members for quite awhile keep bring up the same old creatures and posting the same pictures over and over.

Sometimes you have to do what I do, skip the threads you don't want to read. thumbsup.gif
DarkSide
But its not very fun for a memeber when they come on UM expecting something exciting and see 20 threads on if Vampires exist or not.
ALNA70
I understand your point, but what other option is there?
We can't very well stop people from creating new threads. Can we?
It's just one of the little inconveniences we have to deal with.
I belong to a couple other forums that have the same problem. I just skip the threads and get on with my internet travels. thumbsup.gif

I agree, I am not interested in Godzilla, Vampires or Mythycal beasts, however I think it is difficult to bring new topics to the forums when their have been non reported so I guess we will be going over old material until something new raises it's head but as long as the old material is not some ridiculous topic... although we don't have to post on the ones we disagree with do we??

Good point! grin2.gif

If you don't like it, why don't you leave? The X is right there at the top of the screen.

Many members enjoy discussing these cryptids. If they didn't, they wouldn't.

So cut it out.

Thank you.

Always happy to smite people who complain too much.

This is, what, the second complain in as many days?

Absurd.

I really don't mind when I see a topic I have already read over, I just take another look at it. You never know, some people have interesting view points on things and some very interesting ideas, it can be very entertaining.

Question....when you pick up a paper and read stories that dont interest you...do you not read the stories and move on, or do you read the entire paper and then write in a complaint about stories you don't want to read?.....

Darkside, on a public discussion forum such as this, I'm afraid you're going to have to accept the fact that there are many, many members who simply will not share the exact same interests as you. There are many members here who actually want to talk about Vampires, or Chupacabra, and are not simply doing it because "there's nothing new".

If a subject does not tickle your fancy, then it is very easy to find one that does...there are many threads in this and other topics that don't altogether interest me, and so I simply choose not to read them. The fact is that, simply because you're "bored" of certain subjects, does not mean that other members of the forum who are not should have to avoid posting on them.

Well said Sera thumbsup.gif

Or alternatively start a thread yourself. It's quite simple really.
