IN an experiment designed to test out one of the oldest arguments in the battle of the sexes, a British village is to be temporarily stripped of its womenfolk to see if the remaining men are able to cope.
The stunt will be carried out in Harby, a tiny community in northern England, and filmed for a BBC television "reality" series called The Week The Women Went, the Times newspaper reported.
Eighty women will be put up at a hotel for seven days, leaving their husbands and sons to grapple with the likes of babies, washing and shopping.
The BBC has described the forthcoming series as "an intriguing social experiment", but some locals are less sure, the report said.
Such is the worry that the village - and especially its men - might be portrayed in a bad light, the entire population is to hold an emergency meeting, the Times said.
"The village is certainly divided over this, and there has definitely been some bad feeling that was not here before the BBC came along," parish council chairman Richard Croft told the paper.
The producer of the series told the paper that while some men were expected to cope well, in other households "domestic chaos will ensue".
Can't wait to see the show.

Hehe, wouldn't it be really much harder for the men to take on more? (if they did something in the first place) Men and women take on roles in the family. The man or woman may work and the man or woman may stay home and tend to the house and kids. After this show put up the men in a hotel for a week and see how the women fair without them. Its a partnership.

I think if someone took men away, Kratos, I'd be perfectly fine. Not all women need a man to function. (Not meant to sound snappy.)
This is very interesting, what happens if they simply can't cope with things like young babies, will someone step in? This would be very interesting to watch, too bad I am in America and not Britain...Or wherever BBC broadcasts.

I remember when Ruby was a toddler and I had a really bad stomach bug, after 3 days in bed you couldn't see any of the floors of the house.
No general household chores were done etc. I asked hubby what he had been doing and he said it took all his time to watch Ruby.
Like derrrr........... I had to watch Ruby every day and yet still managed to handle the day to day stuff.
He would no doubt make the list of those that couldn't handle it.

depends on how you term "handle it", but as far as this kind of thing goes people are people are people and guys would do just as well as gals just like gals would do just fine without guys. People do what they have to do and they all find ways to do it. I know some women who don't know how to cook, clean, buy groceries, take care of kids, change a diaper... but they sure know how to go to the beauty salon spend money and gossip.
I'm just wondering if all this money wouldn't be better spent elsewhere.

There is a lot of people that say the world would be a better place if men wasn't around, same thing with women. But I always pity their views on that dream... because if every bit of ether sex died out... soon the oppsite will die out, then the world will be peacefull without the destruction of humans... In fact

, now that I think about it, Earth would be a better place if all humans died... Down with humans

! Just kidding. I really dont know where I'm going with this

. Anyway, I hope I made some kind of point in this post. Until next time, Meji away!

When I left home at 18 I went straight into the Air Force where they train you to do your own domestic chores. I managed to live well on my own , and learned to cook from working a factory line where the girls all way swaped recipes. By the time I got married I ended up with a wife who hates to cook, clean, or organize. I taught my sons to cook as well, so they are in no rush to marry. Lets face it some guys get hitched just to replace their Mothers.
If this experiment happened here me and mine would do just fine.
Besides in Wisconsin we marry fat girls to stay warm on cold winter nights.
No other reason.

the main problem i find with guys in general is that they cant multi-task... where as a woman can put a dinner together (meat, veges, desert etc) and have it all finish at the correct time, get the kids ready for bed, do the ironing and so forth.... guys just struggle to get the dinner to be ready all at the same time

I completely agree with men being unable to multi-task......tunnel vision...that's all they have.

I love being able to mulit-task because apparently guys have no idea how to do that and yet I can easily do it and I`m only a teen yet I am always helping out around the house, although no where near the extent which my mum goes to and boy does she do a fantastic job. She can certainly multi-task.
Reality television, just keeps getting worse and worse!
