Let's imagine that a real bigfoot was captured. How would science present it to the world? I've always imagined an event similar to the release of Nelson Mandela. A camera zooming in amongst a crowd of scientists from a distance. A commentator saying "I can't see anything yet, but they should be bringing the creature out any second now... Wait, there it is!. Ladies and Gentlemen, this truly is a historic moment" or something along those lines.
Ideal, it should be put on Broadway first, hosted by a impresario in a top hat.
How have you always envisaged the worlds first genuine glimpse of bigfoot (if such a beast exists that is)?

Yes, but not like that.

It would definitley be a big hit on every news station in the Nation. As Bigfoot is one of the most hunted Crypto's of all time. I think there would most likely be a whole live T.V. segment about it too. Most likely on like TLC, The Discovery Channel or even SciFi Networks would be involved for sure.
However, I think you might get the same reaction from people finding out that Aliens are real and were not alone. You might get that same reation like, HOLY SH*T! Or a riot could break out by a band of BigFoot hunters across the nation knowing they exist and try and track down others who hide in other states.
Ever watch the movie Harry and The Hendersons? When Harry was on foot in their city? All the Bigfoot trackers in the world put on a party search. I think this would exactly happen in real life if Bigfoot was ever captive.
It could turn positive or into a bad situation. It depends on how it's presented by it's finder.
That's my opinion...

if bigfoot is a gentle creature and doesnt harm people then im sure it wont be hunted down by people, but if its a animal that hunts down people then well.. lol

Exactly, if the bigfoot were to be presented before the public.. it wouldn't be long before hunting parties would go out. Then I could see masses of others trying to gain in on the subject merely for money.
For some reason, I keep thinking about the old King Kong movie. Bring the ape in, scare him to death, make him violent.. blah blah blah.

The King Kong thing is probably closest to what would happen, I think. It might go well for a while with a lot of hype surrounding it but then I think a lot of controversy would start and it would just go downhill. Unfortunately thats the only true way people will ever believe it exists.

Well, lets just hope some circus won't get him or her if ever captured.

I think it would cause a mass hunting spree and the whole species would be wiped out in the wild. It wouldnt be good at all.

I agree, a mass hunting spree would be on.
A lot of people in the field don't want to see one captured, purely from knowing what humans are like.

In truth, I'd like them to remain a secret. If they exist it's safer for them that way. More so than all else, whatever we humans find, we try to exploit for materialistic gains. Though it may mean an endangered animal classification for the Sasquatch, we would eventually be the death of them.
Someone mentioned presentation by shows. This is correct. There would be endless documentaries on them. They would be tagged and tracked, and like Goodall's mountain gorillas, we would soon know each by name. Once a shy creature who just wanted to be left alone to do his own thing in what remaining woodlands we have left, would suddenly be thrust into the spotlight for all our amusement, like animals at the local zoo. People would be looking to profit of the animal. It's just the way it goes with us...whatever we touch...we destroy.
One of these days I'm going to get out west and set out on my own to prove they exist--for myself and no one else.
I say let them alone.

I wish you all the best Wooddevil.
I've been thinking a lot about these animals, too.
Your right, I guess we need to learn how to live with them and give ourselves guidelines about close encounters.
Take for instance, Stalking.
What should humans do, if we are being stalked?
What should we do with the window peekers?
Should we remain calm & possibly have heavier drapes?
Children
They enjoy watching our children.
What should we teach our children?

Guess what I freakin' did???
I called bfro.net and one of their representatives will log on here at UM in 4 to 5 days and answer questions about Sasquatch!!!
I asked about the close encounter's and he thinks they come close to our homes to look for food and to possible interact with us!!! But this doesn't work because they are enormous and we are frightened and panic. He didn't think they would harm us unless we provoked them.

i found this news artical its a bout the bigfoot /yeti and the story behind it. its a good read but the good doctor thinks bigfoot is just some crazy person out in the woods.http://funreports.com/2005/03/15/58653.html
I for one think that there is something out there. a dead one or an alive one would be a most fantastic find. Id like to find a dead one first, cut it open see what it eats ect ect, learn a little bit more about it so we can find out where it has adapted to and then go try to get a live one.
