http://crux.baker.edu/cdavis09/roses.html see how long it takes you, and don't foget if you get it right to do it a few times to make sure it wasn't a coincidence.
No giving hints out either.

It took me a while to get it.
Did you notice the Professor's remark, ' The longer it takes, the smarter you are. '
I think it's really more to do with the way you think. If you tackle the puzzle like a big maths equation it'll be harder.

Well it took me a long time but i got it and for some reason once you figure it out it seems alot more complicated than when you started.
I will never look at a rose the same way again

I don't want to blow it... but... my personal history is math and I don't get along very well... how many petals are around the rose... simple...
Edit: might have given too much away so changed it...

I was introduced to "Petals Around the Rose" by Dr. Richard Duke at the University of Michigan . Dr. Duke used to begin each of his gaming/simulation courses with this exercise. While some students would solve the problem right away, others would struggle all semester. It had taken Dr. Duke well over a year himself, and he would always explain that the smarter you were, the longer it took to figure it out.
Then I must be really thick, because I saw the mathematic explanation in seconds. Oh well!

lol can you PM me the math equation? I only did it by seeing a pattern but I'm sure there's a math way to do it.
