Honestly I really can't see the US making it too 2076. Sure we will make it in a sense but I do foresee a revolution happening on US soil, probably changing the government up quite a bit....as for new states they always have been talking about adding Puerto Rico as a state, but I think that has been going on for a while now....

Will the US safely make it as a country to 2076 ? - I seriously doubt it, if we continue on the path that we are on now we are certainly doomed.
Will we be the same size or gain more states or lose some ? - I think we might gain and lose some. I think we will lose Texas, and probably gain Puerto Rico.
Will we have the same governmental system ? - I think our government might change in that it is less closed, and releases more of the truth.

2076...maybe, but I highly doubt it. If we do make it to 2076 i think we will be nearing the end (civil war) (republicans vs. Democratic america)
gain or lose...defenatly loose states
Same Governmental system? No, we will have two (kind of like usa csa but without slaves and stuff)

I think the better question is will the world still be here in 2076
