With new advances in the fields of medicine, it is now possible for people to live past the age expected. What do you believe is the age in which people need to stop living and finally die?

With old age comes new perspectives on death.
Sometimes, you go when you're completely ready to go. There is no right age to go with old age. When it's time, it's time.

You know, there used to be an old woman living near me...I'm not sure how old she was exactly. Late eightees I think...I remember thinking to myself "please let me die before I get that old..."
There is a certain age that, quite frankly, means that life esentially stops. The older you get, the more and more you revert back to this childlike dependance on those around you, to the point where you can't even be left alone...while it's true that science is able to make people live longer, that doesn't mean the aging process has been slowed down...it just means you're able to live a little longer with infirmity and ill health.

i like the way you think seraphina, my perspective is that age is like water, if runs and runs until one day there is no more water left to pour from. I really want to live along time , but i dont want to live past 100-121

Actually, the way I think is more like the human body is a machine, and it's only a matter of time before it starts to break down. You can maintain it as carefully as you want, but it'll still be an old, barely functioning machine after a certain length of time.
You can make a machine last longer by keeping it clean...you can do the same with a person's body...but both still have their point of no return.

[excellent , the theory of ultimate destruction is awesome. You should write a thesis on the topic. From your avatar and your quote i would have to say that you are either a scientist or soon to be scientist. I personally want to be a medical doctor. I like to study the human body(and not in the Micheal Jackson " way lol

I think the point of being "Too Old" is when the quality of life starts to go down.

I say that to old is when someone is living to old to do things. Like when they can barely do for themelves. You can't say a certain age is to old I know so people 70 years who are fine go outside to other things and are fine. I also know other who are that age and barely moving around. So it depends on the condition of the person.
That's what I say.

i think i will like growing old and eventually dying becasue ag=fter awhile you would have seen to mush , maybe you were raped or saw a murder or something, and you want to forget it all, death is the ultimate forget potion,

, but i agree with both of you if you can still do things like run and jump at 121 yrs , go ahead and live for ever

To old for me is when I can't remember faces, or take care of myself. I am strongly against myself becoming like that. I would rather die then rot away "living".

I will know when I am ready to die. I am not scared of death (not saying that I wouldn't try to survive if I had to) I will be ready when I look back at my life and am satisfied. If not, then its there is others things I need to accomplish. I wouldn't stay around doing nothing all day in a nursing home though. My grandmother had that fate, and I am not going to end in lonaly tourture.

When its your time is when you should go and not before...I don't feel that age has anything to do with it...my mother-in-law is in her 70's and very active...but there is a woman who is in her early 40's who does not have a good quality of life(everything has to be done for her...she cannot even go to the toilet without help)...which one is too old?

I agree Alice....
In my family..... I have a grandfather who is 88. He suffers from demnture...struggles to walk..... Cant do anything for himself, including go to the bathroom.......
On the flipside, my grandmother is 89.... She is in great health, still does a lot of her earlier activities...... Manages to live quite comfortably... and is even going to alaska on a trip.....
So.... Age can be quite different, to different people, so I doubt its a relevent question....

I believe I am old, I would like to pass away right now.
Whereas when I'm spending time with my grandmother who's 85 this upcoming May, she wants to wash the dishes and hang her own laundry a lot. When my mum comes with me to visit her, she makes me do the laundry and wash the dishes for my grandmother.
But anyway, when we're not there, someone does the dishes and laundry anyway - so don't think my grandma does this everyday.
She just likes to do things like that, whereas I was reluctant to do them.
So in comparison, it seems like I feel older than how she feels.
My back hurts.
I wouldn't want to live any further than 50.

I don't think you'll have to worry about doing dishes by the time your 50 Kerkido... might have robots to do those chores. We've already got robots who can vacuum for us.
if you're 100 years old than your too old. in my opinion.

I have a great-aunt who is now 101. She's pleased she has lived so long, but she no longer worries about death, but looks as it as a simple 'long sleep'. There comes a time where life has had it's course on you, and you accept death as the next adventure.

Old is when you have to many medical problems... or your mental state is not measurable because it is so desinergrated.. when they cant care for themselves...um... or when they are just creepily old... and they scare little children

150... Thats too old in my mind...
But if people could live that old and stay healthy, then there wouldn't really be a limit...
