How can i play with you guys cuz i don't have much time on your tourney.
I just wanna practice games with you but i can't play like days.
I wanted to play at least 10 minutes only.
My first game was not good because my opponent resigns.
Here's the game.

No one wanted to play bad boy scippy.
I was locked at 6 games and no one wanted to move.
...sigh...anyway RHP = scip
joc
I'll play you. original.gif
scipherel
I didn't know you could delete games that was just started.
Ok Joc, i'll reserve it for you. Find me or i'll find you there.
Just don't bash bad boy scippy and we will be alright.
scipherel
Looks like Joc didn't have a sleep playing chess.
Good game Joc and i got no idea how you managed to survive that attack.
You must be doing good in chess.
Here's the analysis of our game. Joc ( w ) vs Scip ( B )

Why are so many people resigning?
I always play to the bitter end

Because they don't understimate their opponent.
It's a Grandmaster handshake. yes.gif thumbsup.gif
Why ? are you expecting a miracle?
It only happen on 5 minutes blitz chess.
Elfstone810
Neo, I usually resign when I can see that they've got me checkmated in just a few moves and there's nothing I can do to prevent it.

(My kings figure that if they surrender instead of getting killed on the battlefield there's always a chance they can escape and attack from within! devil.gif)
Talon
Resignation if your done for is usually a sign of respect to your oponent, in that they know their beaten and they wont waste your time making a futile attempt to get out of it by making the match last another 7 moves by having the king run around the board before they can get that checkmate in.

I try not to resign if I can help it but there's the time factor to take into account with this tourney, there's so many games still to get played that it would be silly to drag a game on for longer than necessary if the outcome is blatantly obvious. Best just get it out the way and move on to the next one.

Elfstone810
Thistle, I doubt you often get into a situation where you're obviously done for!

(If anyone hasn't played her yet, beware! She's a meanie. crying.gif A nice meanie! yes.gif But a meanie! crying.gif)

(Oh, and Talon and Saru are too! tongue.gif)
Thistle
rofl Elfy, it happens quite a lot.

And I'm only mean because erm.... ummmm....*points at Saru*....HE made me do it.

Subtemperate
Im the opposite.....I never give up in a match, I make people beat me properly..... Just because thats the way I am, I dont take an easy way out, even when its probably a time saver...lol
scipherel
And also one more thing.
If your king was checked and there's only one place to move it, well you have to move it. Don't waste time.
Talon
. . . never . . . w00t.gif

There is nothing 'easy' about admitting defeat

Its the australian way im afraid, we battle...no matter the odds. Even in the face of peril, with no hope, we shan't give....

Tis probably why we were used as fodder in world wars..... huh.gif

Well, guys, I'm done playing for right now. hmm.gif I have to go get a bigger chess set so I can try to figure out a way to get away from Talon. (The big meanie has me in a corner and he's stalking my poor queen and trying to get rid of my bishop so he can promote one of his pawns so he'll have two queens and . . . and . . . crying.gif)

Aw, Subby! sad.gif

Reminds me of a Hagar the Horrible cartoon. Hagar's telling his son about his favorite daydream. He's all alone, defending Norway. Against him are ranged all sorts of famous warriors, Ceasar, Attilla the Hun, Hannibal with his elephants, Alexander the Great, etc. All of them are backed by mighty armys. As they stand facing each other, Ceasar raises his hand for silence and tells his cohorts:

"We'll attack as soon as our reinforcements arrive!"

Just a reminder that we're looking to get everyone completing a total of at least 5 games each by Monday to help speed things along a bit.

I started a game with you Scip, pretty well through my tourney matches so I think I can afford to have a fun game (not that the tourney games aren't fun of course)

I don't like challenges just to prove who is good between us.
Have you ever realized if there's a grandmaster reading our post ?

I know, Saru. I'm playing six games right now and probably at least two of them will be done by tomorrow. I just had to step back and think about the board for a bit. Talon had me in a corner, only after I slept on it, it turns out I had him in a corner. <G>

(So now, if he wins anyway, I'm gonna look EXTRA lame! no.gif)

I think you perhaps need to revise your definition of what any given game is about....by its very definition, it's an means of competition huh.gif Recreational yes, but at the end of the day it's still about competition. There's very little difference between a friendly game, and one to decide if you're actually as good as you're cracking yourself up to be.

No, at the end of the day you forget about it.
I said i was a good player but i didn't said i was the best.
What's wrong giving tips to novice player ?
Is there a safer place to hide on this forum ?
Maybe i'll go next on writers hangout.
It must be quiet there.

That doesn't make it "not competition". If your not planning on being competitive, you wouldn't be playing chess would you?

What planning are you talking about ?
You reckon i'll be in the next round ?
I am finish with the chess world 15 years ago and it only
happen that i have a 10 days easter break from work that i decided to join RHP.
When i was 14 years old, someone almost killed me because they can't beat me in chess. Do you think i need to practice to win a tournament ?
Subtemperate
English obviously isn't your first language.....

I just stated that you are playing chess...... with intentions that you will play at your best....... This is being competitive...... Whether you win/lose.... and if you forget about it afterwards...... that does not make it any less a competitive environment....

Where in the hell did I even say you were entering the tournament and needed practice? huh.gif

Its a sport, of course there's challenge involved in beating the opponent, that doesn't somehow make the game hostile.

QUOTE

Why would a grandmaster be reading the posts of amature players on a site, when he could be playing for a championship against professionals. And why would they care? Do you think they want to snap you up and make you their apprentice, but your chances'll be ruined it they think we're being to competative? huh.gif

I don't think your the best, but you said you were good player, so I want to challenge you to find out. I can hardly tell if your good or not if you refuse to play me can I?
