Your US Benefits Connection

I found this web-site about American Benefits and if your curious, check it out!

My daughter lost her job and I am using this place to see what we can do next.
Walken
My family gets UK benefits.

When I found this site; I honestly did not know America had so many benefits. I was only told about the Department of Human Services but there is so many others. Then all of the states has their specific benefit and I always thought, the system was like a cookie-cutter process.

This is why I posted it; in case someone else didn't know.
I can also hear all of the rumbling and grumbling from the Americans who oppose this; raspberry to you, I say tongue.gif

pisces you live in the us right?
remeber that one guy who always promtoed his book about (getting things from the government) , do you remeber , he seemed like he was on the drugs mannnnnnnnnnn
Bex
The man with the question marks all over his suit. Yes I remember.
Years back, when I first became disabled, I was speaking to one of our fine representatives from Washington DC and she told me, those books do not really have the information you need; they are just trying to sell their books. You get your information on the net and from their your suppose to call the main number, and from their they assign an office to you. From that place you have to go to other offices, etc etc. Lots of Red-Tape, months of waiting etc. Did you know you have to wait six months before the US says you are disabled and the normal course is another 36 months of waiting but in my case, I got my approval the first six months I tried. Did you know, every three years the hospital choice of the government re-investigates your case?
A lot of the critics think it's easy to get government assitance, but it's not so easy. You have to follow their rules, go to all appointments the government assigns etc.
I know a lady who is disabled but...she opposes the government and fears it as well... no funds for her.
I get investigated all the time, it's no big deal. The reps are only doing their jobs.

i dont want to go on raving that the gov't is out to get me and etc. but i like the government but holy????? The governemnt spends billions on things that shoulkdnt be spent on , like The war with irag or korea, dont really care , the govrenment needs to look out for its citizens not the rest of the world

The list of benefits is overwhelming; a lot of people can not focus and do not understand what to do first. The only way, you can hurry up and find your answers; is to call the most important call of all; State Representatives, get involved with the government because afterall, it's our government and we must take charge of our lives.
Hurry. Yes hurry, because time is not on your side. The programs have deadlines, and I can't be specific because of all of the legal language used, it's too hard and you need to find someone you can TRUST to help you decipher the text.
My advise is to be tough and stand your ground.
Bex
I agree about the War.
I just can not see any reason why the President wants to cut on programs like Social Security when you and I both know, Old People and Disabled people can not go back to work and fully perform like they use to. In my opinion, it's taking advantage of the old, weak and ill... and also the children.

i hope i am not overstepping the boundary , but how are you disabled
amputee? , disease? , the government?
Bex
hahaha "the government" but to the rest, there is a bit of truth to that.

After 22 yrs of working close to 10 to 17 hour days during the evening until mid mornings, I had a stroke. I never got a vacation or time-off to visit the doctor. My health started to dwendle possibly around 1990.
The first traumatic episode happened to me by a family member when I was 5 yrs old.
Then oncoming family abuse until I 2002.
Rupture of tumors (privacy) Sept 24, 2000 - surgery Feb. 2 2001
diagnosed with Diabetes #2, Hyperthyroidism, Asthma, Allergies, Anemia and Stroke Feb. 12, 2002.
Emotional breakdown/ major severe mental disability following the sudden death of my mother Aug. 7, 2002 then more mental episodes until March 2004. Carple tunnel in both hands...

But seriously Sugar, I am fine now. August 2004 my test for both phyiscal and mental problems was excellent and they are still excellent.
Of all that I have been through - being diagnosed with Mental health disorders was the scariest because of the stigma assoicated with it.
But with the medication my progress came full circle because with a healthy mind comes the healthy body and an exuberant spirit bounce.gif
Bex
I forgot to mention - Time.
The reason you need to hurry to get your documents sent to one agency to another is because you can not get your work place to give you the benefits from working their unless you do it within their time-frame. Then it's just a whirlwind, truly it is, if you don't have someone you can trust to help you.
I missed the deadline and lost the Disabled benefits from my employer, and I missed the deadline to sue them too.
