Anyone else see the Thrashers get robbed by the Caps???? They were winning until the last 20 seconds of the game when the Caps tied it up and won it in sudden death ot!!!!!! Robbed!!!!!!!!

I'm so mad.

I saw the highlights, it was just a great come-back for the Caps..man, that Ovechkin, between him and Kovalchuk they soud have great match-ups between those two teams for years to come.

Sorry Ethyl, it happens to them best of them, but like I said before, The Thrashers will be just fine for the playoffs.

yeah but they beat the caps tonight, in OT i think.

the sens won over carolina, they looked good scoring 4 nice goals, with gerber in nets against his old team.

florida lost in the shootout onyx, long scoreless game, tought loss.

and karnelson, go canucks!!! i got luongo in my office hockey pool, so i need a win.

and that's your up to date hockey round up.
Kaknelson
-- Canucks beat the Ex-member, Anson Carter and the Columbus BlueJackets 1-0 tuesday night, AND Lugo got a his 2nd shutout of the season. Fairly one sided, however, the big highlight of the night was Naslund's beautiful game winning goal.

Yeah, I was watching....and throwing things...and marveling at the performance of BOTH goalies(looks like the refs made-up their minds to let the hockey players ACTUALLY play hockey, lol), Huet looks like a real keeper, eh?.....Auld has stood on his freakin head lately and should sue for non-support....Bertuzzi CANNOT get back into the line-up fast enough.

Boy, the Sens can do no wrong lately, eh? Looks like it's gonna take some kinda effort to cool them off....and unfortunately...they're The Panthers next opponent.......I'll be looking for ya Jeceris!!!!

Louie is da man, the things that I've seen him do... w00t.gif ..he reminds me if his goal-keeping idol...Grant Fuhr.
jeceris
hey onxy, you won't see me there tonight.
but the game is on the tube so i'll be watching, and yeah they look like they're on a role.
they really need to put a good stretch of games together to get back in the hunt, and hopefully they will.
as long as the leafs keep losing i'm happy.
Kaknelson
-- Onyx : Louis is the man your right, I love how he wears Kirk Mcleans old number, brings back memmories, #1!... He looks, IMO, exactly like Vincent Corleone from Godfather Part III. "Just give me the command."

Cancuks play best team in the west, and second in league along side Sabers... the Mighty Ducks, with the seemingly unstoppable Neidermyer and Pronger on defence! ph34r.gif

Nucks lost a by a huge 6-1 last time these teams met, this shall be interesting. Im ordering it on PPV and will keep the world updated.

thumbsup.gif
~Onyx~
Panthers lost 6-0 to the streaking Sens, it was a totally pathetic effort by the "boys"(like I said previously, it's gonna take a colossal by whoever plays them...they're playing with so much confidence right now).....if they were a horse, I'd put them outta they're misery, sheeeeeeeeeeeesh.
Kaknelson
Bad day for both of us brother.

Nucks lost 2-1 last night, in a game that they dominated, should'a beat the Ducks (best team in League), would have created a lot of momentum.
Kaknelson
..... To better days!

Canucks beat out Avalance today, 2-1...

Luongo 40 saves, Naslunds goal called off was a joke, and this Rick Rypien played his first game. Along with being his first game, called up from the Manitoba Moose, he gets into a scrap in the first minute...

Coldethyl and Onyx... How's your teams doing? They played today...

~Onyx~
Louie making 40+ stops is nothing new(at least not to me...he had to do it practically EVERY night in Fla.), and he'll probably tell you(and the media in Vancouver) that he playes better when he sees alot of shots...but 20-25 would probably be just fine just the same.

As for The Panthers.. rolleyes.gif ...it's for the best(health-wise) that I say as little as possible about they're performances lately(lost to The Thrashers 3-1 on Friday). They're giving little or no reason to think that they'll be in the playoff race at all this year(they tanked in November last year...and it seems that November will be their undoing AGAIN this year).....I guess we can look forward to another year of being "sellers" at the All-Star break. And, is it just me, or does Olli Jokinen look "lost" out there on the ice lately?

Don't feel bad about losing to The Ducks, Kak...between them and the Sens(in the east) you probably played(and dominated) the best team in the western conference...at least you have REASON for optimisim!!! thumbsup.gif Now, if you'll kindly excuse me, I'm going to go and hang myself with a bungee-cord.

See Onyx's above statement about Panther's game. tongue.gif

Thrashers are doing quite well this year. There was a goalie hit the last game that was a big scare because we have such a problem with goalies lately, but he was just shaken. Thank goodness!!!

I think they're still number 2.

Ha!

Onyx !!!!! ??? w00t.gif

Just chill man, you have Big Bert, regardless if he's out right now. We have a lot of love for him, now that we are finally done with that "Free Bert" campaign. Looking at your teams rostern now, I notice you have a couple ex-Canuckers, most who got good and then we traded off. Careers birthed in Vancouver, that's awsome. Yea your right, Louis is the mean kind of goalie, one that stops all but 2 shots during practise. Great goalie. And, about the Ducks' yea, they are a great team aswell it seems, the best. It's funny story, Canada and hockey run deep, even though Pronger got traded from Edmonton and not from Vancouver, in a bi^%h trade IMO, to Anahiem... every time old Chris touched the puck for the Ducks, he would get viciously boo'd as if in Edmonton. grin2.gif

We play at our division rivals Edmonton tonight, should be great. I'm pretty sure Ryan Smith is injured in their lineup, so we have the upper hand. Roloson vs Luongo, always great matchup. I'll keep updated! IPB Image\

Panthers and Nucks don't even play this year. How retarded is that, damn new rules.

Anyways take care!

IPB Image\
Kaknelson
Oh no....

Nucks get plastered off 2 retarded goals, then it opens up from there. All defections from slappers, off of our players, some pucks hit 2 players before going in! 4-0 was the score, in another home game that we completely dominated, but could not put puck in the net. I have to give it up to the Oilers tonight though, if we beat them, we would have aquired first in division.

3 injuries on our team tonight with no word on how they are doing!

a banner night in the NHL!!!!!!! grin2.gif

first off, sens beat the islanders 4-2, nice win and tomorrow they play washington, the team is playing well, heatley and spezza lighting up the red light, alfie had a bit of a nasty injury and headed off in the third, hope he's ok for tomorrow.

coldethyl, you must be happy, your thrashers beat the leafs, that makes me happy as well, they scored 4 in the third to beat toronto at home, right on.

and onxy, the panthers beat the penguins, nice win to take down sid the kid and his team.

and kaknelson, i didn't see the canucks tonght, but for three out of 4 ain't bad for one night!!!!
~Onyx~
Looks like the only thing that can stop the Sens right now is themselves.....or some sort of natural disaster, lol.

Yep, The Panthers FINALLY got of the schnide win a "W" against The Pens (on the road, no less) and Jokinen had 1 and 1(someone must have been nice enough to remind him where the opposing net was located)....do you relaize that the goal by Jokinen was his FIRST on the road this year??????!!!! Look no further than that stat(and not having Louie between the pipes or Bertuzzi not in the lineup dosen't exactly help) for they're pathetic road record.........maybe this win will give them the "jump-start" they seem to need to get their skating-game going.

i just turned off the game, ottawa getting their butts kicked by washington, it's ugly.
..and I watched my son's team lose 7-1 as well tonight, not a good night for hockey.

onyx, about florida.
i think jaques martin is a good coach, but the double duty is too much for him and i don't think florida can hire a new coach, or want to, and unfortunately martin will be double dutying the rest of the season.
i also am starting to think roberts is not keen to play his style, he doesn't look like the roberts of old, BUT, i'll bet pucks to dollars roberts gets traded to some team before the playoffs, because he's a good grinder for the playoffs, and some team will want him, even.......dare i say it.......ottawa.

You make a good point about Roberts, Jeceris...I can't refute your logic....If I were a veteran player on that roster(ie. Gelinas, Gratton, Stumpel, Salei etc.) I would be preparing for a change of scenery...soon. I'm just tired and frustrated that this club and franchise seem to be(since '00, anyway) perennial "sellers" at the break and I'm tired of it, everyone else(it seems) are making playoff-pushes and The Panthers seem to be making "tee-off" reservations.

Sorry to hear about your son...but it's only one loss, I've no doubt he'll bounce right back....how old is he?
jeceris
My son is 11 and has been playing hockey for 4 yrs.
He won't be heading to the NHL but he really enjoys the sport and I'm one of the coaches on his team.
and they've only won two games this season, so there will be more losses this season, and a few wins, but the kids just enjoy playing, and I enjoy everything about the sport, although I don't play anymore, not really any adult rec leagues around.

a good intetest for us to share. he plays on the point, and has a good wrist shot, but needs to do a bit more checking to really make a difference.

Sounds great...wins & losses be damned, lol.....Never say never about the NHL. My son just turned 2 and got his first pair of "traniers" for skating, my 7 year-old daughter skates pretty-well(just not a hockey player, if you know what I mean). Hockey is great and as long as you and your son have a great time at the games and everything else that comes along with the "team-sport" experience, that's all that matters... thumbsup.gif

Never skated? Do they have a rink anywhere around your neck-o-the-woods? If so, you really should take Alina and go(it's always better to fall and get hurt in a group tongue.gif ), gliding on the ice is...IMHO...the closest thing to flying without your feet leaving the ground.

P.S.....bring a camera, lol.
~Onyx~
The Panthers beat Buffalo last night(3-1) with(what I think anyway) their best defensive effort in a long, long time. They held(IMO) the second-best team in the Eastern Conference to 18 shots while firing 38 at Ryan Miller, and in light of recent events(all of the injuries and the retirement of Nieuwendyk) I can't say how pround I am of the "boys" or how impressed I am with the job Jacques Martin and his coaching staff has done in getting them ready to play.....now if they could just string some wins together and get some consistancy going, they might ACTUALLY turn this thing around before it's too late.

absolutely onyx, and it's great to hear that you've got hockey available for the kids there, i must say i'm a little surprised, i've heard that hockey is becoming a big thing in the states but didn't think there were many rinks in florida.
there are plenty of girl teams here, and if the girls here are good enough, they end up playing for an american college, that's what they aim for as there isn't any professioanl league, unless like manon rheaume, (remember her) they get a chance with an NHL team, so put the pads on your daughter and get her out.

Luckily, there are a few rinks around my neck-o-the-woods that I can frequent(spent my daughters 6th Birthday are one of them, and had a GREAT time).....I remember Rheaume!!! Tampa Bay Lightning!!! She was a great role-model and inspiration to young women everywhere.

Good luck against The Rangers...Jagr is a LOAD for anyone, but without Redden to "keep him honest" the forwards need to be that much sharper in their own zone and play in The Rangers end of the ice as much as possible.

I have a question for EVERY Hockey fan.....What do you think your favorite team will be doing at the All-Star break? Buying...selling...standing-pat? and what do you think(if you believe your team to be a buyer) your team needs to put them "over-the-top" going into the playoffs?

the sens will likely stand pat, unless alfie and redden aren't back, or they may look for another goalie the way gerber has worked out.
sens need a bit more solid defense, and as always, better goaltending to put them over the top.

Yeah Gretzky was only there for 1 season. I think that was more of a playoff type trade. I like them because of Al MacInnis. One of the great defensemen in the league for many years. I also liked Hull.

Their farm system is great, they have alot of good young talent. Curtis Stanford will be good in a year or so. They also had first pick last year and got a defenseman that's compared to Chris Pronger. They signed a few guys this year (Dvorak, Guerin, Rucinsky, Weight) to try and make a decent run but both their goalies are hurt now for awhile.
Kaknelson
As a Canuck fan, there have been rumors of a possible Lunogo trade, for some forward sharp shooters and a less caliber goalie, but IMO that will not happen. I believe, if anything, that we will get a bigger Defencemen. Possibly try for someone who plays like Deon Phenuf...

The only thing that could trump The Panthers unwise(and I'm being kind) decision to trade Louie would be for The Canucks to trade him before he even played a full season for them....not unless they get an offer that just BLOWS them outta the water(or ice)......I don't think that the Canucks NEED a whole lot, sure they could use some more scoring-punch(who couldn't?) and big, mobile, smart defensemen are at a premium in this league, which is why when you get one, you don't trade them away for nothing......I just think they need to play a bit more consistantly for 3 periods(again, who dosent?lol) and stop letting teams off the hook, IMO.

the sens will likely stand pat, unless alfie and redden aren't back, or they may look for another goalie the way gerber has worked out.
sens need a bit more solid defense, and as always, better goaltending to put them over the top.

and i guess look for the panthers to be dealing roberts and jokinen, but not to any temas in the east.
but what the hell do i know????

What the heck ever happened to Patrick Lalime? Wasn't he supopsed to be the next BIG thing?(considering the AMAZING start to his career in Pittsburg) It just seems to be a bit of a revolving door in goal there, which is odd, beacuse I thought that Emery and Gerber were playing well(something tells me that the Sens have come so close in the playoffs previously, that anything less than a Stanley Cup Finals appearence spells DOOM for the starting goalie).

I can see Roberts, Gelinas, Gratton, Stumpel, Salei, and possibly Montador(given his Stanley Cup Finals experience with The Flames) all being dealt at one time or another.....but if they trade Jokinen......then sound the "death knell" for The Panthers, that would signal a MAJOR rebuilding process and scrapping of this season and possibly(given the nature of free agency) the next. The Panthers "core" players(or as I like to call them..."The Untouchables") are as follows....Jokinen, Horton, Weiss, Olez, Stewart(in the AHL San Antonio), Bouwmeester, Allen, Mezei, and Van Ryn(Bouwmeester, Allen, and Mezei are the big, mobile defensemen that are at a premium....Van Ryn was STOLEN from St. Louis 3 years ago and has a CANNON for a shot).

I agree with you Jeceris, if they do ANY trading at all, it won't be to any teams in their division(not to sure about the East "on the whole"), the LAST thing you want to see is a well motivated, talented, upset player who feels they were direspected by the organization(and have a point to prove, lol).
