You won't have to wait long, Mells is they're Captain...he knows what it takes to grind-out a season.
I just got a voucher for 4 Panther tickets(lower-level or club-level) from the G.M. of the Toyota Dealership I work for...nice, considering I've been hounding him like an escaped felon for about 2-3 months now.....now I just have to check the upcoming schedule and figure-out when I'll cash this in.

Patrick Lalime was with the Blues last year but he got hurt. He also wasn't playing very well. He was sent down to the AHL a few times, he's with the Blackhawks now. I think they signed him for one year $700,000 deal.

Talk about "the worm turning" in the WRONG direction...the AHL??!!.....The Blues(somewhat like The Sens) are another team that has had a revolving-door in goal for awhile....not that they haven't had good ones for a time, mind you...I remember Brent Johnson, Roman Turek, Chris Osgood(the soft goals just killed him in St. Louis) and now Legace(he's a competent goal-keep...but I think the youngster Schwarz is the future there)....The Blues really haven't had a GREAT goalie there for an extended period of time since Cujo(Curtis Joseph).....but the Blues are a storied franchise that have made the playoffs an INSANE amount of times in a row, and that HAS to be respected, but they are the middle of a rebuilding process similar to The Panthers here in Florida with the youth they're going with now, but with the salary-cap era of Hockey taking effect, ALOT of teams will find themselves bringing-up players from the minors that they normally wouldn't beacuse the cost of adding a veteran will be to high.

The Canucks are a good team with a great goalie, all they need to do is stay consistant with their effort and let Louie do what he does...in the NHL Playoffs(as we've seen SO many times before) you can ride a hot goalie right to The Stanley Cup(most recently Cam Ward).

I'm not sure..and I'm not sure anyone else is either, lol. Keenan and Alan Cohen(majority owner of The Panthers) have always had an odd relationship...kinda a love/hate(like George Steinbrenner and Billy Martin used to be) thing.....that I'm aloof to even come close to getting into it, lol. Horton will be a 30-40 goal scorer someday(he reminds of a young Keith Tkachuk) I just hope it will be with The Panthers(hope is the key word there). Alex Auld has played so-so(IMO) and(also IMO) Eddie should'a retired 2 years ago...he's a shell of his former HOF self, he's just hangin-on.

I forgot that Nieuwendyk retired the other week. That's a blow to the Panthers. I know he's been injured alot the last while but he's a great man on the faceoff. Also when he was healthy he still could produce points. Horton does play like Tkachuk. Lets just hope he doesn't take stupid penalties like him. When I get a chance to watch St. Louis play he gets on a mean streak sometimes.. I seen him cost them a few games for being in the box.

Losing Newie was a big blow to a team that already isn't sure when they'll get Bertuzzi back(or if his back back will even heal properly) and is slowly falling out of playoff contention in DECEMBER!!!! All that being said, the young-guys(Weiss, Horton, Olez, Bouwmeester and Allen) and the Captain(Jokinen) need to step-up and play beacuse there is no tomorrow for this team, and if Bertuzzi comes back and there in contention....GREAT....otherwise, they'll be selling-off all their veteran guys AGAIN this year.
Horton seems to play under control, even though he needs to learn not to be so "cute" around the net(he likes to toe-drag and deke alot), he seems to have started to listen to the veteran influences on the team(Gary Roberts especially) and now tries to find the "white ice" and put himself in better positions for rebounds(it's the best pass in Hockey, after all)....he's a pure shooter/scorer.

....Forgive me, I'm not laughing at you, I'm just laughing at what you said. I remember the trade that sent Thornton to San Jose, and I diddn't understand it either. The Burins struggles are a bit puzzling to me, they get Chara and add him to a defense that already sports the likes of Paul Mara and Brad Stuart(granted that they could use another good Veteran defensemen...but who COULDN'T?), and the forward position sports Murray, Savard, Strum and Axelsson and you add the young talents of Bergeron, Chistov, Kessel and Boyes and, at the VERY least, The Bruins have a bright future(I especially like the Kessel kid, he's got scoring-skills).

Vancouver's defence snapped Jarome Iginla's six-game scoring streak on Thursday and dealt the Flames their first loss in seven. Brendan Morrison, Daniel Sedin, and Mattias Ohlund all scored in the 3-1 victory - the Canucks' first of the season over the Flames.
DIVISION RIVALS - got plastered.
** The booth in which I sat was awsome, I didn't know hockey could be watched with such sophistication...one of those booths cost 3800$ for seasons tickets on a 10,000 person waiting list... Don't think I'll be going again soon.
* There was a couple fights, some dumb Flames fans getting mad at the loud chant of "Flaaamees SUUUUUuuuck!" repeatedly, over and over... 2 girls 2 guys faught, Canucks and one Flames fans scrapping. 2 Funny!

CANUCKS 2 vs. WILD 1 - Final
With the absence of Sami Salo Canucks still manage when Linden gets the first from the Sedin Twins. Mattias Ohlund scored the Canucks' second power-play goal of the game midway through the third for a 2-1 win. Roberto Luongo made 28 saves as Vancouver was a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill. That's three straight W's for the Canucks.

Man, that would be great, to meet Daniel Briere AND get to see The Sens play The Sabres...that's what makes life-long Hockey fans, right there....I hope you get A TON of pics of the whole event so we can see them!!!
I understand about your frustration with the up and down play of The Sens, they're to good to have those types of lapses in focus and hunger(which is what the problem is IMHO). They shouldn't have a hard time with The Bruins...unless they "play-down" to them...considering that they(The Bruins) are a good team with good leaders on offense(Glen Murray) and defense(your old pal Chara, lol) but they just play the whole game waiting for something to go wrong IMO, and when that something DOES go wrong, the floodgates just seem to open up...it's hard to understand. Good luck with Boston, The Panthers are in "the center of the hockey universe

" tonight taking-on The Leafs, Belfour will almost certainly start in goal(he beat'em earlier in the year, let's see if he can do it again).

As long as what he's(Fitzpatrick) doing isn't against the rules...then it should stand...it's not his fault that the NHL has a loophole in their selection system, besides, Rory is gonna get enough crap in his OWN dressing room for this situation, believe me, lol.
I agree that Marcus Naslund needs to step it up in the goal-scoring dept. but the absence of Bertuzzi is starting to show a bit, and Morrison isn't exactly holding-up his end of the scoring either...all that being said...they're still good enough to make the Western Conference playoffs as a 4-5 seed and let Louie do his thing(he's never played in the playoffs before and I think once he gets the chance, he won't disappoint), and besides, you never know what the front office will provide in the way of trades to help Coach Vigneault with scoring......Kak, you know the farm-system better than I do, do you know of anyone The Canucks have in the system that could help them down the road this season?

Yah, we (nucks) have many many quality farm players Onyx.
The Manitoba Moose are one of the best teams out there to select from... Alain Vinough the coach Nucks new coach, is ex manitoba moose coach.
However, back to this problem, it seems impossible to put the finger on. Canucks seem to ALWAYS outshout their opponent... I believe they are second in the league in shots, yet the other team scores 2 goofy ones somehow. I can see a possible trade comming up, Naslund maybe, or some support for him. This problem was thought to have blown over, but is reoccuring. And they are 17-17 now becuase of it. The Western division is way to tight for this.

I look at they're 17-17 record with a bit of optimisim, as inconsistent as they've been playing..they're still right in the playoff hunt(unlike MY home team, lol)..once they go on a bit of a roll and get some confidence things should start to come together...remember when The Flames went to The Stanley Cup Finals against The Lightning(just before the lock-out)? The Flames were having similar scoring problems(after Iginla, nobody seemed to be able to score consistantly), and were leaning heavily on Kiprusoff, then when the playoffs started they started to get the "timely" goals to go along with the STELLAR goaltending they were getting from Kiprusoff and the next thing you know, your in game 7 of The Finals with a chance to hoist The Cup(and all you can ask for every year is just a CHANCE to be able to do that).
I think The Canucks have a chance(with Louie between the pipes) to be that kind of team, but your right, they need to cut down on the turnovers and odd-man rushes and play good sound hockey, take your chances WHEN THEY PRESENT THEMSELVES(good veteran players can see when those opportunities present themselves...which is why most Head Coaches prefer odler more experienced defensemen over younger less experienced players...no matter how talented they may be...unless the coach has no choice, lol).

They(The Panthers) did this crap last year too, they played like they couldn't beat the San Antonio Rampage(their minor-leage affiliate) early in the season, then they get their s**t together in just enough time to tease their fans and THEN fall just short of the final playoff spot beacuse there is just too much distance to make up between them and the 8th and final playoff spot( and considering that there are only 15 teams IN the Eastern Conference, having to scratch and claw just to get to the 8th playoff sport shows you just how pathetic they've played early in the season), even though I don't have the official stats in front of me at the moment, their record in 1-goal games HAS to be in the bottom half of the league.
The good news is, it looks like Eddie Belfour is starting to round into form and if he can just stay healthy and consistant and keep the boys close every night, they still have a chance......now we just need to see if Alan Cohen(majority owner) decides whether or not they're too far outta the playoff race or not and starts trading players for prospects and begins bringing-up the young guys from the minors or not.....the next couple of weeks will tell the tale.

Shhhhhhhhh, don't look now, but The Panthers have made it 3 in a row with a come-from-behind win on home-ice against The Rangers...and in the process accomplished 3 thngs....
1. The won they're 1st game on the year when trailing after 2 periods(that's where all of those 1-goal losses hurt)
2. The handed The Rangers their first loss of the season when leading after 2 periods
3. They won 3 games in a row(please don't say THAT one too loudly, lol) for the first time all season(

).

nice.
i can't remember what it's like to have your team win three in a row.
sens lose again last night to the lightining, after an embarrassing loss to boston.
being a sens fan used to be aboout watching them handily take care of the oposition and automatically booking a playoff spot and this year, nothing is guaranteed and if they make the playoffs, the way they're playing they'll be out in the first round,
saturday they play philly, the WORST team going, and if they lose to philly, then it's all over before the allstar break.

That's o.k., I can't quite remember the last time The Panthers won 3 in a row either, lol. Good luck tonight against Philly, if the Sens are gonna beat them, they're gonna have to attack their defensemen with a hard 2-man forecheck(their defense...other than Pitkanen....isn't very mobile and don't move the puck particularly well) and force turnovers. I don't foresee a big problem with The Flyers......am I the only one who thinks that Peter Forsberg should change his name to PUP(physically unable to perform)?
The Panthers take-on The Hurricanes tonight at The Bank Atlantic Center..*whispers* and try and make it 4 in a row....I'll be in section 412(what can I say...the tickets were free, lol) row 1 seats 4,5,6, & 7(I'm taking my brother, he's in town for the Holiday).
What's the local word on Alfie? Is he back in the lineup? If not, how much longer?

yes!!!!
some relief the sens win in philly, without spezza.
everyone chipped in. for the sens to do any good i've figured they have to be a different team, a team that digs and fights cause they're not the quick skilled team they used to be, and so it's time to change th way they play, i hope coach murray figues it out and how to do it.
and how about peca, hate the leafs but that's a bad injury, poor guy, always liked peca and what he brought to the game.

Thanks for the optimism Onyx. I think the biggest success for the Canucks thus-far is the rookie Defencemen
Kevin Bieksa, with 8 goals, he plays like a forward but is a strong right handed D man. Reminds everyone and idolizes Steve Yzerman, gotta love his style.
I must say, there have been a couple good highlight goals by the Panthers this season, can't say the same for Nucks.

Lost to The Hurricanes in OT...Eric Cole....the tripping call on Bouwmeester was garbage(IMO) but The Hurricanes did what your supposed to do on OT(especially on the PP)..get the puck on net..and Cole was there for the rebound.....game. The game started with great promise when Jokinen scored top-shelf 28-30 seconds into the game, then Carolina looked like it just wanted to get the game over with(Panthers out-shot them 36-17) but The Panthers just couldn't seem to get anything going to put them away. The OT loss hurts beacuse Tampa won and beating Caroline would have been a 4 point turn-around in the Southeast standings...but at least they keep the point-scoring streak going(I'm a glass half-full kinda guy, eh?)
Wow, diddn't know that Spezza wasn't playing...that's too bad...but they(The Sens) won anyway(which is a testament to their leadership and coaching.........and it certainly helps when your playing The Flyers who just have ABSOLUTELY no confidence at the moment...it's just a matter of time before they start dumping high-priced veterans).
I diddn't see the injury to Peca, I'm a fan of his game as well, expecially his days in Buffalo(Selkie trophy winner in Buffalo, I believe).

I see The Canucks took care of business......but The Panthers....

....Here we go AGAIN!!!! I just don't understand the inconsistency, Nathan Horton scores both goals, but nobody else(attention all units..attention all units...be on the look-out for Olli Jokinen...he, and the consistency in his game, has been missing for some time now) seems to be able to step-up when they need it....frustrating.

Yes!
Sens won, too bad for Panths, sometimes it's tough to get in a good winning groove...
We have done it again, back to back game action! WINS!
CANUCKS 6 vs. FLAMES 5 - Final OTThe Flames had back to back division rival games, and Canucks beat them last night 3-1. Tonight, The Flames scored three straight to take a 5-4 lead late in the third. Ryan Kesler tied it 5-5 with under four minutes to play and Sami Salo won it in overtime. The Canucks' second consecutive victory over the Flames gives them the Northwest Division lead. The twins were absolutley amazing to watch, they have truely became superstars.
Have to watch these highlights!!!! Canucks finally get 6 for the first time this year!
From worst to first! The Canucks took over the top spot in Just a single point separates all five teams in the division.
We play against another division rival Oilers on Saturday, and have lots of rest, good for Louis.

Great highlights of the Canucks vs. Flames....your right, Kak The Sedin's are playing some great hockey right now...Daniel especially....and I also see that there was a Brendan Morrison sighting, which would be great to get him going.
The Sens beating The Islanders was a very good win for The Sens, they're a good team(The Islanders) with a pretty damn good goalie...just looks like Emery was better, lol.
The Panthers beat The Flyers(who hasn't) last night....now if they could only string-together some wins and stay consistent going into the All-Star break(and get Weiss and Bertuzzi back in the line-up) they are STILL(even with as badly as they've played early in the season) in the playoff-hunt in The Eastern Conference.
Just as a side-note, you guys may want to take special notice of those teams(like The Flyers) who have alot of high-priced veterans and have losing records(like The Flyers....yes, I'm taking special pleasure in saying that over and over and over and over and over....oh, sorry..where was I?) beacuse soon, those teams are going to be looking to move some of those players(The Coyotes and The Kings as well)....who do YOU think would look good in Vancouver and Ottawa?
