Great highlights of the Canucks vs. Flames....your right, Kak The Sedin's are playing some great hockey right now...Daniel especially....and I also see that there was a Brendan Morrison sighting, which would be great to get him going.

The Sens beating The Islanders was a very good win for The Sens, they're a good team(The Islanders) with a pretty damn good goalie...just looks like Emery was better, lol.

The Panthers beat The Flyers(who hasn't) last night....now if they could only string-together some wins and stay consistent going into the All-Star break(and get Weiss and Bertuzzi back in the line-up) they are STILL(even with as badly as they've played early in the season) in the playoff-hunt in The Eastern Conference.

Just as a side-note, you guys may want to take special notice of those teams(like The Flyers) who have alot of high-priced veterans and have losing records(like The Flyers....yes, I'm taking special pleasure in saying that over and over and over and over and over....oh, sorry..where was I?) beacuse soon, those teams are going to be looking to move some of those players(The Coyotes and The Kings as well)....who do YOU think would look good in Vancouver and Ottawa?

gagne to ottawa now that fisher and spezza are out, but it'll never happen with the cap, not right now anyway.

that was a good game between cal and van, watched it right into overtime, really good game. and luongo gets me two points.

of to the land of onyx later tonight, so i'll be away for a week or so, and just hope somewhere down there, the leafs vs sens game is on saturday night.

Actually Onyx, I'd have to say Henrik Sedin is better... I guarantee he'll be in first in Assists, very soon.

Check out the Stats on Asissts in the league:

1 SIDNEY CROSBY PIT C 38
2 JAROMIR JAGR NYR R 35
3 MARC SAVARD BOS C 34
4 HENRIK SEDIN VAN C 33
5 JOE THORNTON SJS C 32

8 PATRICE BERGERON BOS C 29
9 ROD BRIND'AMOUR CAR C 29
10 MICHAEL NYLANDER NYR C 29

There's some big names on there, woah...

The Panthers need Tuzzi to be 100% before they are a strong playoff contender, Sens i like to watch, hope they get in playoffs aswell. But i have to say Montreal Canadians are the only team that could probably beat Cancuks right now.

It looks like BOTH the twins are living up to their draft expectations quite nicely thumbsup.gif . Unless The Panthers get both Weiss and Bertuzzi back relatively soon, they don't stand a chance in the east, unfortunately.

I think that a team in that division will go on a run before the All-Star break very soon...here to hoping it's The Canucks!!!(I sure wouldn't have a problem with seeing 'ol #16 hoist The Cup before he hang's 'em up).

O man, thanks for that.

That guy is like a father out here, father of hockey, Linden deserves it from what happend to hin. It's unfortunate he took a beating as the main spokesman during the lockout... It was hard on his now aging but everlastingly wise frame. I would have said the season before the lockout, when Naslund was on the cover of the Ea Sports video game, that year they would have took it... This year will be a battle but lately i can see it happening, as long as we aren't in the 8th Seat. Playing Anahiem first round? You could count us out... we need atleast one round of playoff experience before that team. Id say 7th or 6th, we can take detroit.

I sure hope the Sedin Twins can keep up the scoring pace while Naslund and Morrison are M.I.A....and Louie just keeps doing what he does. Mattias Ohlund is one of, if not THE most, underrated defensemen in The N.H.L. and Sami Salo would be a top-2 or 3 defensemen on ANY team, the loss of Jovo hurts, but I hope that The Canucks front office dosent stand still and not make a move of some sort to help the defense...that would be a crime.

Making a move to seperate yourself from the rest of the pack just before the All-Star break would be a tremendous motivator going into the second half of the season(the point where I think that Louie will REALLY show The Canucks fans why he's one of the best in the world between the pipes).

On a more SOBERING note, The Panthers took care of The Habs 3-1 Friday night to move within 4 points of the 8th playoff spot in The Eastern Conference...all is not lost.....yet, lol. The Panthers got Weiss back(one assist Friday night) but still no real timetable on Bertuzzi, the front-offince keeps saying "after the All-Star beak" but WHEN exactly after the All-Star break is what fans want to know....I realize that a back injury isn't something you can rush back with(you could just make your situation worse), but the longer he's(Bertuzzi) out of the line-up, the less chance The Panthers have to make-up ground in the East.

Onyx, I hope aswell, Morrison is stepping it up now, but Nassy, well he has a sore shoulder. Naslund still get those assits, nice ones at that, just not the accuracy to bury those 100 mile an hour wristers now. Van's D will get along without Jovo, the D we have is easily sufficient.

Flames (2)
Canucks (3) Beating the flames at home the last 3 times!

I am pleased to announce that CANUCKS CATCH FIRE! The Canucks overcame a 1-for-10 effort on the power play and a shorthanded goal to triumph 3-2 in Calgary. The Canucks have won a season-high four straight - all against Northwest opponents. . . HIGHLIGHTS

It seems that drought through late November and early December has left. No more taking stupid penalties in the first period, going down two - nadda in the first period. They are comming out with a bang and giving every team payback! I LOVE IT! Destined for good things.

Onyx, I am also pleased to announce that our teams play on SUNDAY! PPV out here, I don't know about where you live? I thought they didn't play!!!!! Too bad we can't cheer and boo old BERTUZZI, I was looking forward to this day sad.gif. Oh well, you must watch it bredrin, it will be a good one.

I hope you got to check out Anahiem at Detroit today, it was brilliant! If you didn't watch, check the NHL highlights ESPN or whatever you Americanians have. grin2.gif They hung up our favorite players Jersey. Old Stevie Y, big ceremony and speach by the ex captain. I love Stevie, he knew when to retire and I take pride in a player like him! He's from Cranbrook BC, not ALL that far from Vancouver.

ANYWAYS, off to bigger and better things!

I circled that game on Jan 7th as well, Kak thumbsup.gif I'll be on Fox Sports Network down here it looks like...good luck to you, in advance, as long as nobody gets hurt in the game, I'm looking forward to a good hard-nosed, entertaining hockey game(I know Louie is looking forward to it, lol). It looks like The Canucks are doing well(I don't want to speak too much about it for fear of jinxing things, lol), and I diddn't know that Naslund had a bit of a shoulder, but the team needs him, so kudos to him for toughing it out for the boys thumbsup.gif . Good luck against Turco and The Stars.

The Panthers had a prime chance to get 2 points on Carolina BUT couldn't get the job done in Edmonton(would have LOVED to help ya out there Kak, but the boys just can't seem to put-forth a consistent effort every night). Next up for The Cats, The Flames(we'll see if we can't do a little somthin for ya, Kak).

Just out of curiousity, did anyone get a chance to see the Steve Yzerman tribute and retiring of the #19(The Red Wings beat the Pronger-less Ducks 2-1)?

Thanks for that brother, Naslunds a true captian, well.... JAN 7th!!!! PPV....sad.gif...

We still get to check out Alex Auld, this should be a good uptempo match!!! God blessed us with our teams going head to head... ! Ha!

Ahh! I hope you can tear those bastards up! Pardon ! But, we play Jerome Iginla and Kippersoff just way, way too often. If I was a season ticket holder i'd be pissed right off. We don't get to see leading scorer, Jay Leno guest, Sidney Crosby for 3 damn years!!! Can you believe what Gary Betman and the lockout have done!!?? Yuck ( Hey Onyx, the secret to beating the Flames is... "Don't hit the Iginla, even though he's pesky and strong, don't awake the monster." As simple as that, you hit Captain Jerome Iginla, you'll pay for it on the scoreboard) . Northwest division is tight, the hot NHL topic right now, I hope you can run through em for us!

Canada beat USA at the WORLD JUNIORS today. It was a close one, went into a shootout, but Canada however edged it, and evidently advances to the finals against team Russia. And USA gets to go for bronze against Sweeden I believe. Juniors is a great watch, Friday is the final games.

Anyways...... As UM's daily Canuck news supplier, I am proud to present that...

That's really a GREAT win for both The Canucks and The Sens(forgive me, but I don't want to say too much about The Canucks, you know why, lol). The Panthers have a date with The Flames, and Kak, I think you of all people should know how difficult it will be NOT to hit Iginla....considering that he's such an aggressive hard-nosed player that you don't HAVE to look for him..cause he'll find YOU more often than not, lol. If The Panthers just come-out an play a good road-game, period by period(strong forecheck and take the body whenever possible....AND STAY OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!), and stay focused, they should be right there in the third period for the 2 points.

I ALWAYS enjoy watching The World Juniors...future NHL'ers playing for fun..playing for love of country...playing beacuse they're hockey players....it's the truest form of Hockey you'll find before the big-money gets involved. thumbsup.gif
~Onyx~
Well, The Panthers let The Flames off the hook after playing a MASTERFUL road-game for 2 periods....I've never seen Alex Auld look so inept and lost in goal, and usually I'm a very positive person(we got a point out of it), but this loss more than than others REALLY torqued-me-off to the highest degree. They did such a great job taking the body in the beginning of the game(did anyone see that hit Allen dished-out to Kobasew?.....he may be out for awhile...it was a little scary), and then in retaliation for the hit on Kobasew, Iginla gets into a scrap with Allen(I think he HAD to given the way the game was going physically) and Iginla gets nicked-up in the lower body(I diddn't see anything straight-off..but he headed to the dressing room after serving the 5 for fighting)....Bouwmeester had a great game(1g 2a 3 points) and Rostislav Olez had 2 goals and David Booth scored his first career NHL goal...and Auld just couldn't hold it together.

Sorry, Kak...Would have loved to take 2 points away from Calgary(and gain some ground in The Southeast Division), but the boys just can't seem to hold it together for 3 periods.

And on a happier note rolleyes.gif Gary Roberts was placed on IR(not sure what for, or how long he'll be there)....this just keeps gettin better and better...sheeeeeeeeeesh....&^&*^&*%&*%&^#%$@##$@$#@!@!!!!!!

CANUCKS 4 vs. PANTHERS 3 - OT/SO Final HIGHLIGHTS (CLICK HERE)

Josh Green scored in the fifth round of the shootout Sunday and Roberto Luongo stopped five of six Panther shooters to give the Canucks their seventh straight victory.

I called it with a buddy of mine, Linden scored first!! The first five minutes were donimated by the Nucks, it looked like it was over, you must have been a little weary Onyx... but then all of a sudden Panthers took over!! And, IMO for the rest of the game. I have to hand it to you man, even without Bertuzzi's element you guys have a lot of speed and skill and are firey. You were able to beat Lous glovehand a couple times in the 3rd as he stuggled a bit, and the Cancuks players finally stepped up and began to play good.

But in the shootout Belfour fell short. As Kesler did the one legger shot and Naslund and Sedins looked like they werent quite ready to take those ones haha! The shootout was pretty amazing man, we both got a point atleast, I really enjoyed that game! I got to watch your teams quick stick play, but now Canucks get a couple of days off to relax... Too bad Auld was out there, but it was a big one for Louis, Lukas Kriecheck and the Panthers Brian Allen.

However, Naslund scoring streak has finally begun, outa that old slump! Until we meet again ** in another 2 years ** original.gif

What announcers did you have Onyx, just to ask?

Dave Strader and Dennis Potvin(Yep, the most loved man in N.Y. Ranger history..lol), Strader came on-board last year but Potvin has been there from the beginning(1993 when was teamed-up with Jeff Rimmer).

It was an entertaining game from start to finish, it's a shame that there had to be a loser(but ain't that just life, eh?). I kinda smiled when Linden scored first(I've always been a fan of his...if you looked-up "hockey-player" in the dictionary, his mug would be starring back at cha, lol), but it looks like all of the right people scored for The Canucks(Naslund, Morrison, Linden) and both goalies seemed to be moving well-enough(even though I thought that Louie was pressing just a bit...which I think accounts for the "soft-goals" in the 3rd period...I've always hated the term "soft-goal", what they think happened!!..the goalie just FELT like going to sleep for 2 goals!!!??? rolleyes.gif).

The Panthers haven't won a shoot-out or overtime game yet this season and HAVE to be leading the N.H.L. in 1-goal losses, it's frustrating, but if we had to lose to anyone...I'm somewhat happy it was The Canucks(and you Kak). I thought that Auld would start in goal against his old club, but maybe Martin thought that the pressure would be a little much for him and that Auld would start "pressing"(especially considering his last outting in Calgary)...at least that's what I think happened*shrugs* who knows?

But now that the game is over, I don't want to say to much more about it....you know why wink2.gif .....good luck the rest of the way, Kak. thumbsup.gif

back and amazed at the sens progress.
it looks like because of loosing spezza they've found a new way yot play and with heatly, alfie and keely on one line now, they're lighting it up.
heatley was picked mvp of the league for this week for all the points he's gotten, heading for another 50 goal season possibly, he was the first senator to do that.

and onyx, i was down in orlando and talking to the locals, about hockey and none of them seemed to know where the panthers played out of, you must be a die hard fan.

The Sens are doing UNBELIEVABLY well considering what they've had to endure this season, and are only a couple of points behind The Habs in the standings...but both The Habs and The Sabres have games-in-hand...so it's of the utmost importance that they(The Sens) win the head-to-head match-ups they have left with BOTH of those teams if they want to secure their place in the playoff-seedings. What Heatley is doing dosen't surprise me, after what happened to both he and Dan Snyder(God rest his soul) with that horrible accident, I was concerned that he would ever be the multi-talented player with a mountain of potential that he was before the accident....I wish him the best, I hope he scores 50 and The Sens finish-up strong in the second-half and(hopefully) The Panthers get their s**t together and AT LEAST grab the 8th playoff spot and get a chance to play The Sens in the playoffs....wouldn't THAT be great!!!!

I may not be as "die-hard" as some, but I've always loved Hockey and when The Panthers made the run to The Stanley Cup Finals in 1996 it just cemented things for those Hockey fans down here who never had a local team to root-for(I'd always been a Red Wings fan...from afar, lol). I've watched The Panthers since day 1 against The Blackhawks and goal 1(Scott Mellanby), that '96 team was such an easy team to root-for(Mellanby, Laus, Fitzgerald, Barnes, Svehla, Murphy, Carkner, Niedermayer, Lindsay, Garpenlov, Hough, Wooley, a fresh-faced Ed Jovanovski(his rookie year) and a little goalie with a BIG name John Vanbiesbrouck(The Beezer made believers out of everybody that year in the playoffs).....a bunch of no-names and cast-offs from other teams with some young and talented rookies and 1st or 2nd year players mixed-in made for a year that no hockey-fan down here will ever forget....The Year of the Rat.

man you know your hockey onyx.
a good example of what you speak of was going on tonight, sens vs bruins.
bruins have won all the meetings so far and have, i think, 5 games in hand over the sens, so it's critcal the sens start to figure out how to beat them, and they were down 2-0 after 2 periods, but lit it up in the third winning 5-2.
they got that monkey off their back, and heatley again with a goal and a helper.
maybe it's better if spezza never comes back, they are playing with grit, something this team has never had before.

thursday in new york.

Last night the only broadcast on the NHL package in my area of the Thrashers game was in French. And the Thrashers lost. Coincidence? I think not. disgust.gif

I don't buy that "rap" that Ottawa seems to get...that they are a "all-finesse" and no grit team.....teams tend to get that label beacuse they have a certain amount of Eurpoean players and not alot of N. American players(like when Muckler traded for Vaclav Varada and a 5th round pick from Buffalo for Jakub Klepis a few years back beacuse he listened to all the detractors who said that they wern't physical enough...I felt like Muckler got talked-into that trade then, and I still do today).....it's crap. The Sens have all the pieces they need to go deep in to the playoffs and then the playmakers on the team(Heatley, Spezza, Alfie, Comrie, Redden, Phillips, Hamel, Eaves, Schaeffer...etc.) need to make plays.....look no further than the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals, the current installment of The Sens are no less talented than EITHER one of those teams(Tampa Bay or Calgary), they just got GREAT goalie play and scored the "timely" goals when they had to.

The Sens just need to ride the wave....just like a certain team in beautiful Western Canada is right now....and stay focused, a lack of talent isn't the issue......luckily, lol........Good luck in The Big Apple with Jagr, Shanahan and Nylander and Co. thumbsup.gif Not sure who they'll start in goal....probably Weeks(a former Panther who seems to be playing well right now), considering that Lundqvist gave-up 5 in goal against The Islanders at home.

Nice posts guys.

Thanks for not jinxing and whatnot Onyx!! grin2.gif Even though, i don't believe that stuff.

Anyways!!!! LUONGO IS STARTING IN THE 2007 ALLSTAR GAME, REPRESENTING WEST!!
This is his first time starting, it's unfortunate he's not accross from Brouduer, it's Miller... oh well, can't win em all!

2007 NHL All-Star Game
Wed., Jan. 24, 2007 Dallas.
8 p.m. ET
-- Watch it everyone.

READ STARTING LINEUPS____ CLICK HERE! I love the lineups, kinda mad about cheechoo, his stats aren't the greatest this year, I guess some of his last year credentials came over. The east Ovechkin, Crosby, Brier, ohhhh nooo!

.... No Rory Fitzpatrick though... oh well, i couldn't see him along side Lidstrom anyways, he has only 1 assist this year... He's the happiest about it he got ate up by the media.. felt bad for him... Anyays!......
Cancuks play tomarrow, try to extend their 7 game winning streak, I've watched em all can't miss another.... Seems to work so far!! grin2.gif I mean sh**!

Canucks and Wild, tomarrow, keep ya updated ( Marion Gaborik is back ! ph34r.gif )
~Onyx~
I think it's GREAT that Louie finally gets rewarded for being the most talented goalie in the world IMHO....he's gonna need every bit of the talent against that East line-up to, lol.

I'm superstitious when it comes to "streaks" of ANY type, to me, the less spoken about it, the more you just focus on PLAYING and not all of the residual garbage that comes with...well....you know, lol. thumbsup.gif

Well, The Panthers seem to be able to stop teams that have players that can fly up and down the ice like they have missles sticking out of they're arses, but can't contain the teams with scoring JUGGERNAUTS like Byron Ritchie rolleyes.gif .......I now OFFICIALLY don't get it.

The Panthers beat The Pittsburg Penguins 5-2 and held The NHL's leading scorer Sid "The Kid" Crosby pointless.....don't look now, but Olli Jokinen seems to have rediscovered where the opposing teams net is located. Ya know it's funny, Jokinen has his best games against The Pens(he has 3 career hat-tricks and 2 are against The Pens) for some reason, it's a phenomeneon in the NHL that I don't think ANYONE can readily explain....crazy.

Alex Auld had one of the most odd-looking saves against Sid "The Kid" that I have ever seen. Sid was streaking down right-wing, he took a pass from Ryan Whitney, and got behind The Panthers and was all alone with Auld......he was going top-shelf on the glove-side of Auld....Auld looked like he knew EXACTLY where Crosby wanted to go and let Sid make the first move....GLOVE-SAVE AND A BEAUTY!!!!.....it kinda looked-like Sid wanted to get the shot a little higher than he did(if he would have, Auld would have been beaten), but after that, the momentum shifted squarely onto The Panthers and they never looked back....Gelinas had a goal and two helpers as did Jozef Stumpel(Gelinas played his usual steady give you everything I've got...then give you more, game). The Panthers travel to Carolina to take-on The Hurricanes then start a 5-game home-stand where they HAVE to pick-up some points in the standings....that stretch is CRITICAL if they're going to come outta the All-Star break with Bertuzzi(supposedly) coming-back, and have a chance to stay in the playoff race and not start selling-off veterans(like the hard-working Gelinas) left and right.
Kaknelson
Thanks for the support Onyx.

I just noticed something, we joined in the exact same time, and have almost the same amount of posts...

LOL...

Anyways back on topic. Nice to hear Alex is robbin Sid the kid! Alex has blossomed into a true goal tender. He's played against the best players in the leauge and shut em down, he stepped up big time when Cloutier was injured on the Nucks. His last season, when Cloutier came back, Auld was playing so well they had a big dispute as who should play... i always said Auld. Yea, I miss him, are backup seems quite skiddish, not a big guy, nor does he play like a man IMHO. grin2.gif ...Seems like a Junior goaltender...

WILD UP-END CANUCKS
Marian Gaborik had two goals and the Wild finished 2-for-4 on the power play to hand the Canucks their first loss in eight games Thursday night. Taylor Pyatt and Willie Mitchell scored for Vancouver, who relinquished first place in the Northwest in the loss.

That ends the 7 game winning streak, and it's off for a east roadtrip, starting with Toronto, Jan 13, 2007 4:00 PM
Air Canada Centre - TOR.

It was fun while it lasted, hopefully we can keep it going... Gaborik looked like Pavel Bure, oh did he ever, comming back from his 24 game injury. He really hurt us with 2 goals. We didn't get the first goal, which has been a key to Cancuks success... Im embarassed to show highlights.
The only thing good I can pull from this is ex Wild player now Canuck: Willie Mitchell who got his 1st goal finally, he's had a great year, and Pyatt got his 10th after a 12 game scoreless drought.

Canucks are still on fire and can reedeeeeeeeem themselves in the East.

grin2.gif
~Onyx~
Well, you know what "they" say when you have a long winning-streak snapped don't cha? It's just a lull between ANOTHER winning-streak!!!!

QUOTE
... Im embarassed to show highlights.

My friend, you have no idea what it is to be embarrassed unless you are a Panthers fan and actually watched the entire game against The Hurricanes last night.........it took everything I had to not put the remote control through the T.V.......They were up 3-0 at the end of the 2nd period, and were pelting Cam Ward with anything and everything and basically playing a textbook road-game in Raleigh......then came the final period.....AND THE WORST SINGLE-PERIOD MELT-DOWN IN FLORIDA PANTHER HISTORY!!!!! They gave up 5 unanswered goals and were blown right outta the arena....final score: 4-6.........pathetic.

Now, I'm a firm believer that there is a positive to be taken from anything that would, on the surface, seem like a negative...so in keeping with that philosophy: Olli Jokinen continued his goal-scoring with 2 more(5 in his last 2 games) and he, and his confidence and leadership, will be crucial in the upcoming home-stand. I can't put it squarely on Alex Auld, it's not as if a different person jumped in to his goalie equipment and locked him in the locker room after the 2nd period, the ENTIRE team just completely choked and that's gonna be a hard game-film to watch when the time comes(and you KNOW Martin will make them watch the ENTIRE game from opening-drop until the final horn...as he should), but having gone through a meltdown like that you know that the veterans on the club will make sure that they don't let themselves or the younger players EVER collapse like that again this year.........all that being said, this feeling STILL sucks, and I don't like it.
Kaknelson
^ Yea, I hear you on that, wait till Tuzzi comes back in full strength... it will be a sight to enjoy. Just to say, looks like Panthers did a number on Ovechkin and his Capitals. One more thing, thought i'd share this, I read about a beefing on the ice between our very teams:

Olli Jokinen Accuse the Canucks of Making Rude Comments:
[[[[[From The Vancouver Sun: Quote:
Respect 'Stached: Florida Panthers captain Olli Jokinen says he and fellow Finn Ville Peltonen shaved their mustaches because of comments directed at them by the Vancouver Canucks.
"These guys were calling me gay," Jokinen told the Palm Beach Post. "There were a couple of idiots over there. Obviously you don't hear Markus Naslund calling anybody gay. He wouldn't do that. But that's what this games has come to now.... there's not as much respect as there used to be.
The Canucks who beat the Panthers 4-3 in a shootout Sunday at GM Place, would not comment on the accusations on Friday. Florida coach Jacques Martin told the Post he wasn't aware of the situation and would not take it up with the league.
"You can't worry what other people say," he said.
Peltonen and Jokinen were the last two players wearing mustaches after about half the team agreed to grow them back in mid-December. The team had 10 wins during the time; the idea was they would remain until there were 20 [wins].
]]]]]

LOL SO STUPID! They said it was good luck, dumb report, the guy who said it was probably Burrows or Bieksa. I wonder what it would look like if Tuzzi had one aswell... ohmy.gif JK brother!

Anyways...

You were right Onyx, 100%.... As usual...

NUCKS DUMP LEAFS IN TORONTO

linked-image

The Canucks scored five power-play goals - including a pair 13 seconds apart early in the third - to down the Leafs 6-1 at the Air Canada Centre. The Twins combined for seven points and Roberto Luongo made 35 saves as Vancouver won their eighth game in the past nine. Watch Highlights! -- speaks for itself, Leafs suck and so does Raycroft, pardon but the annoucing from the East was horrid... Matis Naslund? Beiska? Talking about Nassys 20 games and 3 goals! Why not say 2 in the last 3 games... horrid annoucning.

They should really consider making a Canadian division, I mean that's all we play latley! Canadians up next, then Sens, then Sabers... Should be great TV.

I know there's a big Sens fan on this forum! His team has been playing beautifully and especially in todays game. Joc enjoy the smashing today, however the Cancuks are comming on thurdsay after habs! grin2.gif
jeceris
that was some hockey day in canada saturday.
canucks beat the leafs, that is always a good thing, and the sens crush montreal 8-2.
little bit of a stir here, they play a promo at scotiabank place, with teams in the same division, and they show leaf , hab, sabres fans being walked off a plank, and all the sens fans applaud.
well, during the shellacking of montreal this promo was shown, and because bob gaineys daughter was swept of a ship last month and lost in the sea, some habs fans took this to be a great insult, not understanding the promo had been playing since the beginning of the season, still they got upset and the sens issued an apology, and it all got overblown.
i mean i feel for gainey and his family, but that promo was not meant as a shot.
anyway.........

the sens carry on, and canucks come to town thursday, kak, i doubt i'll be there, but if i score some tickets, i'll be sure to let you know.

Hahahahaha.....It looks like it was a pretty-good Hockey-Day whether it was in the beautiful Great White North or opressively-humid S. Florida, lol. I just don't get it, The Panthers give-up 6 goals in the 3rd period against the ONE team that they need to gain ground on and stay close to until Roberts and Bertuzzi get back and healthy, then come right back and do the same thing to Ovechkin(shut him out...and he's the #2 scorer in the NHL) that they did to Sid "The Kid"(the #1 scorer in the NHL) and score 7 goals on 53 shots on goal in the process..........Roberts and Bertuzzi(and their veteran leadership and playmaking skills) can't get back fast enough....The Panthers have no choice, they HAVE to win-out in these last 4 games at home and get back to .500 before the All-Star break, they're not "out of it" yet, but they can't keep this win two..lose three...win one..lose two.....they can score, they've proven that, they can defend(they held Washington to 17 shots on goal) when they need to, they just need to stay healthy AND consistent(all tall order it seems).

Gay? over MUSTACHES!!!???..... laugh.gif ... rofl.gif ...GIMME A BREAK!!! I remember all the racial crap that was going around not to long ago with Chris Simon and Peter Worrell etc. and I feel the same way now that felt then......it will all get worked-out on the ice....BELIEVE me, lol.........mustaches, oh good lord rolleyes.gif . I don't think that there will be any "lingering" bad-blood between The Panthers and The Canucks, they just don't play enough to sustain any and if Olli Jokinen needs to be called gay/homosexual to score like he has been lately then I'll be down on ice-level at Incredible Ice Arena(where practices are held) and have a "rainbow" sweater made for him and have the name "sweetie" stiched on the back for him.....sheeeeeeesh.

I certainly hope the Habs fans(the intelligent ones) understand that a classy organization like The Senators would NEVER make light of such a tragic and unfortunate happening.....I'm sure The Gainey Family understand that the promo had nothing to do with what happened......it was just a few angry fans reading more into a situation than was actually there, and it was an unfortunate coinscidence as far as timing goes....nothing more.

I would like to officially wish BOTH The Canucks and The Sens the best of luck much like I did when The Panthers(and they're gay mustaches) played The Canucks. I hope it's a good hard-nosed hockey game and both teams put-on a show for the fans and everyone stays healthy.......I'll be looking forward to it!!!

sorry onyx, i should have expanded more.
last saturday, the national network, cbc, that shows hockey games every saturday night, had what they call hockey day in canada, where all the canadian temas play one another, only happens like that once a season, big day of hockey on the network, game in the afternoon, evening and late night, this year sens vs habs, leafs vs canucks, flames vs oilers.

and how about the mvp for the nhl this week.

#2- kipprisof (whatever)
and #3-OLIE jokinen

go panthers, i still think they can make the playoffs with how close the whole east is.

I appreciate the positive words, Jeceris I just worry that Bertuzzi and Roberts will get back too late to make a difference. Alfie sure did come back from injury with a vengence, diddn't he...he deserves the recognition(that whole team does, considering what they've had to endure injury-wise). Jokinen........not sure WHAT to think about Olli at this point.....he talks about "playing together" and "putting-forth a consistent effort every night"(basically EVERY cliche in the book) every time he's being interviewed...but then seems to disappear at the worst possible time(leadership-wise...the 3 period collapse against Carolina is a PRIME example), there's more to being The Captain of an NHL club then scoring....ALOT more.

I still think that The Panthers can make the playoffs also(considering the sorry state at the bottom of the Eastern Conference Standings, lol), but they HAVE to start putting some wins together(and I don't mean a couple wins in a row then an overtime/shootout loss) and start getting the two-points every night if there going to establish something going into the second-half of the season.
coldethyl
The Thrashers are usually up top in the standings. I just wish they'd be consistant. I don't know nearly as much as you guys, but when they pull that win/lose instead of win/win I get ill. I won't mention that I miss Savard.

BANNER NIGHT!!!!!

first the sens, smoked washington, 5-2, nice win again.
then, vancouver beats the habs, so ottawa is now in fourth place in the east moving ahead of montreal.

atlanta won, i believe beating LA
and florida went to overtime losing to carolina, sorry onyx it was all good until then.

Onyx - I have to admit, and i'll say it again...the game we played against your Panthers was the worst diplay I have seen by the Nucks all year, I have to hand it to you. Louie is doing his thing in Vancouver, Alfie and Comrie are doing their thing in Ottawa, and Marian Hossa has rediscovered his scoring-touch.......and The Panthers just seem to find a way to lose(after scoring 7 goals last game at home against Washington and Olaf Kolzig, one of the best goalies in the world IMO, they can barely muster 2 goals against John freakin Grahame...not even they're #1 goalie!!!). I'm sorry, it makes no sense, and to say that it's slightly frustrating is like saying that The Titanic was a slightly large vessel....I'm at a loss.

I think that The Canucks have enough to win consistently every night(especially when you have Louie between the pipes...he gives you a chance even when your at your worst...like against The Panthers, he came-up big in the shoot-out when it counted, that's what he does), and now that a new *coughs* ahem....you know what...has started for The Canucks, I'll clam-up now, lol. wink2.gif

yeah, we're next, and this should be a good one thursday night.
both teams are flying right now, and it has to stop for one that night, or maybe a shootout, and a point for the loser.
emery is really good in nets right now, and it's not just the offence and heatley and alfi doing things, the defense is playing their best. did you see the first goal by mezaros last night? this guy has a one timer from the blue line that is freakin brilliant, and on the mark most of the time.
anyway, should be a good tilt, and i'll be tuned in.

wow kak, what a game!!!
in the 3rd period vancouver didn't have one shot on net, they just left it all up to luongo and he did it, they killed off that 5 on 3 nicely and that was that.
if heatley had of put it in on the breakaway, instead of hitting the crossbar, that would've tied it up.
if emery had that knuckleballer from fitzpatrick, his 1st goal of the year by the way....
if if if.......
still a good game and a close one, luongo really played well.

one more game to the allstar break.

and onyx, man what was auld doing in nets besides letting soft ones in form the leafs, two ugly goals.

That is right Jec. Good game man!

I thought it was gonna be a shoutout, but in the 3rd the 4 on 4 created a swing in mommentum. with the best powerplay in the league they did a fairly good job tonight against Sens. I heard the announcers call the Nucks, "New Jersey East" lol. They were playing great until the 3rd, both our teams are the hottest in the NHL right now, but the new East Killers came through.

Louie strikes AGAIN!!! I've seen it for almost 6 years now, he's the most talented goalie in the world...and now he's gonna get a chance to showcase his talents in the playoffs for the 1st time in his career. It was a great game(who'd a thought that Rory Fitzpatrick would be the difference, lol....maybe he SHOULD have gone to the All-Star Game, lol.), and Louie just did what he does, both teams just played hard and left it all out there on the ice....like it should be done.....but it's only one game and, with The All-Star Break coming-up, it's time to have a little fun and relax and recharge those batteries for the second-half run to the playoffs.

Please don't even start me up with regards to Alex Auld(and I wish I could just point the finger at him and be content...but it's a TEAM game), but they had a chance to win and, as usual, it just seems like every other team in the league can find a way to win when they need to, but The Panthers just seem to find a way to lose......... disgust.gif ..........but I won't give-up hope until we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs!! They're gonna have to kick us out before we just take our sticks and go home!!!

Sabres came back with quick goal late in the 3rd, sending it to OT. Sabourin held the Canucks in there until the shootout, but in the second round let one go by. It was upsetting for the Canucks as he was so close to being the back-up goalies first NHL win. It was an awsome game, is that team EVER filled with young guns, VANEK, BREIRE, AFINIGHANOV (Is that Pavel Bure?), ROY, CAMBELL... Just to name the big ones... Miller in net... Nice things!

I'm looking forward to it, Jeceris...when is your birthday? Mine is Feb. 24th(it's a Saturday) and I'm planning a big party at The Bank Atlantic Center when The Panthers take-on The Bruins on the Friday before(cake, beer and hockey....life is good, lol)!!!

It looks like The Eastern Conference took The Skills Competition overall, but The Western Conference diddn't disappoint....it's all in fun.

Fastest Skater: Andy McDonald, West
Hardest Shot: Zdeno Chara, East
Shooting Accuracy: (tie) Eric Staal, Marian Hossa (East)

A couple of ex-Sens there, Jeceris...it just makes what there able to do all the more impressive to me...great organization from top to bottom. thumbsup.gif

*Bobby Lou is the greatest, loving his works and domination. Did you know on his helmet there is a huge image of a Grizzly Bear covering it, like we have in BC, and following on the back is a pink panther. The panther reminds him of the path he has tooken, and gives daps to Panths and everyone back in Florida.

It dosen't surpise me in the least that he feels that way beacuse he's a class-act through and through. You respect him beacuse of his immense talent, but a better PERSON you will not find in the game of hockey....The Panthers loss is The Canucks gain.
