TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE
Danny Sedin scored the overtime winner on a pretty power play set up from brother Henrik as the Canucks overcame a late St. Louis charge Thursday. The Blues rallied with a pair of third-period goal, but couldn't get over the hump. Vancouver wins 3-2.

I haven't seen Bertuzzi get into one game yet for The Red Wings, or have I missed something?

Well, it seems that another nail was hammered into the coffin of The Cats last night with a loss to The Sabres at home where they had been playing exceptionally well, couple that with the loss to Carolina two days earlier and they're all but done....but the seasons not over yet, and we're still playing hockey.

That Red Wings vs. Canucks game should be a really good game, good luck, Kak.
Kaknelson
I see your Cats got 7 goals... woah. Nucks never done that, goalies out here too tuff...

Tuzzi is injured for another week or so... * yawns *

10 games till playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Western Confrence

Roberto Luongo made 32 saves to earn his 41st victory of the year as the Canucks downed the NHL's top team 4-1 Saturday to maintain the Northwest lead. Vancouver finished 0-for-9 on the power play but ran up 39 shots on a stingy Detroit defence and got goals from four different skaters. Highlights

Nucks in Coilville tomarrow, keep yah updated!

~Onyx~
It's wierd, this game we call Hockey, one game The Cats look like they can't do jack and the next they score 8 on The Islanders....one game Olli Jokinen looks lost, and the next he has 2 goals in under 2 minutes and ends-up with 5 points..............I'm at a loss.

That was a great game against The Red Wings, Kak.......and The Luongo Express just keeps on rollin.
~Onyx~
The Cats beat The Flyers 4-1 with Olli Jokinen notchng his 34th and Horton his 28th....still 5 points outta 8th place in the east.....man, that loss the other night to The Hurricanes REALLY hurts right now(they are in 8th place with 80 pts at the moment).

The Sens took-out The Blues 4-2 on the strength of 2 shorties(by Fisher and Vermette)and are just fine-tuning for the playoff run.

The Canucks take on The Preds at home tonight.....GO CANUCKS!!!
jeceris
tonight, sens vs panthers, i'll look for ya onyx.
bit of mixed emotion for this, want ottawa to stay ahead of pitsburgh, but panthers are only 5 points out, and i'd like to see them make it, so we'll see.
should be good and i'll be watching.

Yep, I'll be there, Jeceris. As I said before, as long as both teams play it hard and stay injury-free then I'll be satisfied whatever the outcome. Both teams seem to have an edge in one way or another...The Cats are playing very well at home and The Sens are getting big contributions from the bigtime players on they're team(as they should be this time of year).....Heatley has KILLED us this year, but then again, he's closing in on 50 goals this season, who HASN'T he killed, lol

Switching gears, The Canucks and Roberto Luongo blanked the Preds(no easy task, I don't care who they're missing) with Louie notching his league-leading 43rd victory(4th shoutout of the season and 31st of his career) and if things stay the course, Louie just might break the NHL record for victories currently held by one Mr. Bernie Parent of 47 wins set back in 74-75...8 games left, I'm pulling for him.

The Sabres are a great team and Lindy Ruff is one of my favorite coaches from his days down here in S. Fla, with The Panthers. What they've done
with the number of man-games they've lost to injury is boarderline amazing...I hope those injuries don't catch-up to them at the wrong time.
jeceris
watched the whole game onyx, and sorry man i did not see a sign, or you.
sens worked well, i had heard on the preview jaques martin told his team during the practice early in the day, that ottawa is dangerous on the turnover,
so he told his team to be smart with the puck.
but they weren't listneing on the first goal when they gave it up to vermette.
but i got a little worried when they got the second goal in the third, sens have given up
in the third and blown it before.
anyway i hope that totally didn't ruin the panthers chances, montreal won, but that still deosn't mean anything.
if the panthers can win 6-7 of the remaining games, then maybe, never say die.
the place didn't look that full last night, was that an average crowd, or is attendance dropping off because
no playoffs?

I was a little high up there, Jeceris...but I was there...and it looks like you can pretty much stick a fork in The Cats. Carolina won and with only a few games remaining, it dosen't look good. I thought that Emery was the difference, they peppered him and he came-up with the big saves. Your right, the tunrovers KILLED The Cats, but Belfour needed to make those saves....he diddn't. I thought that The Cats had a chance after the Jokinen goal but Emery closed the door like a good goalie is supposed to. You always try and keep the faith, but things don't look good for our hero's, lol.

It's difficult to fill that place on a week-night, it's pretty full on the weekends(especially Saturday) though.
~Onyx~
The Cats down The Lightning 5-2 last night in a case of too little too late...so let's play spoiler!!!! Nathan Horton had 2 goals(#'S 29 & 30 on the season) and Olli Jokinen had a goal and 2 helpers.

The Luongo Express just keeps chugging-alog nicely. Last night was win #44(shoutout #5 on the season and 32nd of his career) for Louie and ties him with Brodeur for the league lead and just 3 wins from tying the record for wins in a season. I don't think it's a coincidence that The Canucks have the best PK in the league this year either, considering who the best penalty-killer on the ice is. thumbsup.gif

That was a tough loss for The Sens against The Briuns last night, not that it will matter in the grand scheme of things, it just seems that they have problems against them...especially the power-play(4-47 this year against The Bruins)....but it changes nothing(especially for Zedeno Chara, lol) The Sens are heading for the playoffs and the B's are gonna get-together with The Panthers for the first rounds of golf this year, lol.
jeceris
yeah onyx, the bruins again, man that's really frustrating, it seems no matter who they put in nets, the guy comes up huge, stopped a couple of beauties including a brilliant chance by spezza.
was kinda living in dreamland thinking they could catch the sabres, only 5 points back, but if they stood a chance they needed that win last night.
most interesting thing in the east is watching the leafs, habs, and islanders to see who might squeak in for the post season dance.
5 games left for the sens, hope somehow i can score playoff tickets again, got a really good deal last year for game 1 against the lightning.
as you can imagine, playoff tickets a very hot item this time of year.
~Onyx~
The Panthers down The Thrashers at home in a shoot-out....man, if only The Cats would have won HALF of the those overtime and shoot-out loses that they LEAD THE FREAKIN LEAGUE IN, they would be in the thick of the playoff hunt right now......frustrating....6 points out of the final playoff spot with only 5 games left in the season, things don't look good for our hero's.
Kaknelson
Hey guys.

Yes Luongo is on fire as of late, and is the cornerstone to this Canuck team. Best team in 2007. Playoff spot has been clinched one game ago. But all the credit shouldn't go to Luuuuuuuu, the defencive pairings are superb, Salo, Ohlund, Mitchell, Bieksa, Sopel, Krijeck. (edler, tremblay) This is gonna be a great contender in the playoffs.

The Cats are on fire lately, hearing big things in Van about em. 5 in a row. Nice tip in by Gelenas tonight.

Sens are still sitiing pretty ain 5th.

Vancouvers got 101 points in 3rd, and a franchise record 47 wins with 6 games to go!!!!!!! ( Van's always been a playoff team but this year looks +++ goals from everyone )

Game tomarrow...........

INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Cats have The Hurricanes down 3-1 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd and give-up 2 goals(one SHORT-FREAKIN-HANDED!!!) to tie the game and send it into overtime AND THEN Eric Staal takes a dive that would have made Greg Louganis proud and Bryan Allen gets called for hooking, AND THEN Ed Belfour gets so upset by the dive(it happened just to his left near the face-off dot, so he got a great look at it) that he starts making a diving motion as he skates in front of the ref's and gets an additional 2 minutes for "unsportsmanlike".....INCREDIBLE!!!! On the insuing 2-man advantage, Ray Whitney promptly scores the game-winner for The Canes.....%$#$%#%$$##@!!#@#!@#!!!........there is no God.

yeah saw the highlights. thought that was funny by belfour, most animated i've ever seen him, but that is a backbreaker, they needed that win.
one week to go, and still can't figure who the sens will be playing in the first round, and still hoping the leafs don't make it, FOR A SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!!!!
kak, the nucks are cruising, although couldn't figure out that loss to calgary, but they almost came back.
we'll see what's what a week from now.
jeceris
ok the east looks a little more settled.
buffalo has clinched the top spot, sens have to settle for fourth, at best, and they play the pens thursday, if they can keep the pens down, then it looks like it will be pens vs sens in the first round, don't think pens can catch the devils.
ok then, pens it will have to be, they got no goaltending, but they do have roberts, the bane of the sens, so nothing is guaranteed.
and the rangers, ilses, leafs and habs, fight it out for the last few spots. carolina is gone, first time in history the two teams from the previous years stanley cup final, both fail to make the playoffs.
i will get playoff tickets for at least one game. better make it the first series, just to be sure.
~Onyx~
Damn, it looks like Brodeur beat Louie to the record, but the season isn't over yet!!!

Maxime Talbot...who the hell is Maxime Talbot? THAT was a fluke-win by The Penguins, nothing more....but you were right, Jeceris...Roberts kills The Sens like Heatley kills The Panthers...like Jokinen kills The Penguins...IT'S ALL JUST ONE BIG VICIOUS CYCLE!!!! rolleyes.gif

Meanwhile, out west, it was Vancouver 1 Milan Hejduk 3....I don't like that guy...never did...as a matter of fact, I don't like The Avalanche(The Nordiques...always will be to me) period...for OBVIOUS reasons(1996).
frogfish
Wings are the #1 seed in the East right now original.gif Minnesota has sneaked into 7 also.

Hopefully the Wings can get over their first-round exit last year and go all the way! Hockeytown is revving for another championship!

Man, how can you NOT like the Avalanche. The Red Wings/Avalanche rivalry was amazing, the best I have ever seen. I know, I'm a Wings fan, but I still like the Avalanche. Forsberg, Sakic, Hejduk were an amazing front 3. And who could forget Patrick Roy?

I don't like the Av's for a couple of reasons...One, They beat the Panthers in 1996 cup finals, one of those games they used a sneaky, underhanded, dirty trick by an assistant coach to try and take The Beezer out of his game(which obviously worked, lol)....Two, they're NOT the Colorado Avalanche, they're the Qubec Nordiques!!! It used to torque-me-off when uneducated hockey fans say "Look, The Avalanche won The Stanley Cup in they're 1st year of existence!!!".....MORONS!!! I wholeheartedly agree that the '96 Av's team was a great one, with DOMINANT fowards, defencemen, and(at that point) the best goalie to ever play the game(The Habs are ANOTHER group of morons for pissing him off and HAVING to make that trade which brought them literally nothing in return for a Hall of Famer)........but it dosen't mean I have to like 'em, lol.

I hope The Red Wings do well also, I'll ALWAYS have a special place in my heart for them...BUT, something tells me that it's The Canucks(and Luongo's) year.
jeceris
^^^^ god point about the avs onyx, not many people understand how good the nordiques were when they left quebec.

so here we go, pens vs sens first round, it begins wednesday and this is by no means a sure thing for the sens, they will have to be smart and tough, and get sid the kid off his game, they have been able to hold him to 2 points total all season for the numerous meetings they had.
still, it'll be good.
and the islanders knock the leafs out, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha i love it. no leafs again for the postseason......

....and onyx, belfour picked up for drunk and disorderly in florida, probabaly ran into a tampa fan and got going, anyway, i hope he's sobered up since, sooo,
GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jeceris
the playoffs are now happening and pens and sens getting hard and dirty. but sens pulled off a win in pittsburgh yesterday, nice win, hard check on eaves, he may be out for a while, but it was a clean check. so gotta gove armstrong credit for that.
crosby makes an incredible play, scores a nice goal, and spends the rest of the time whining, that part doesn't impress me.
so if they can win tomorrow, they can return home thursday to wrap it up.
hope i'm not getting ahead of myself.
and Kak, wow the nucks are getting it done in overtime, tight series with the stars, but i hope they can do it, it looks good when they win both the ovetime games.
we'll see.

Yeah, it was a clean hit on Eaves, but The Pens are having trouble with The Sens aggressive forecheck(as I thought they might), and are playing a bit out of control....you can make-up for that SOMEWHAT by being uber-talented(which Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Whitney etc. are), but sooner or later, you have to impose your will on the other player and force the issue...which The Sens are doing, and why they are going to win that series.

Vancouver wins in OT, and it looks as if The Stars can play with The Canucks...if they get a lead....but if not, they're goin down in 5 games. Detroit seems to be having little trouble with The Flames, who can't seem to stay out of the box.

West Predictions: VAN & DET

East Predictions: OTT & BUFF

Cup Predictions: VAN & OTT

Ohla everyone! There is a God Onyx!!!!!

I've been a Nuckoholic boys, respectively, with a spliff every period! Loving it! That's the modo I have. -- Hence why I passed out cold after the 2nd overtime, in the 4OT game at Dallas. (6th longest game in NHL history) That's 6 spliffs! Henrik to Daniel, back to Henrik, backpass to Daniel, Henrik, Daniel,Henrik, Daniel,Henrik, Daniel............................................................... ohmy.gif

Too many things to write......ha. Vancouvers record breaking 49 wins, Luongo breaking records, growing his playoff beard looking like a grizzly, Daniel and Henrik smashing records...

Nassy is going nuts in the playoffs, lovely things. Modano is up there too ( best US forward to play ), still has it drafted same year as Linden! O man... game 4 tomarrow boys, we lead series 2 - 1 ! We play similar games Stars and Nucks, it'll be great !

2 pics say it all:

man, you're not going to make it to the finals.

send vs pens tonight, if they win, stranglehold, if not, best of three. i think they can do it tonight though.

On our way to the cup, just wait and see. leading the islanders 2-1 and it's gonna be 3-1 after tomorrow. we want it baaaad this year and this team has the skill and drive to do it.

I see The Pens coming-out aggresively taking the body in the 1st period...which is NOT their game...and then falling into the same pattern that they've fallen into all season long, depending on Crosby and Malkin to do it all. After Whitney, they have nothing on defence, and that's why the strong forecheck of The Sens will cause turnover after turnover and bad cross-ice passes in the neutral zone.....I still say that it will be The Sens in 5 games.

let the trash talking commence!!!!
the sabres want it as bad as everyone else, but i don't think they're going to make it. first if they face the rangers, who are playing lights out hockey right now, they'll have a very tough time, and if they get past the rangers and meet the sens(please oh please oh please) for the conference final, the sens have beaten the sabres more than any other team this year, the sens finally have the goaltending, and the same speed as the sabres, i'm not saying it's a lock, but it won't be a roll over either.
anyway one series at a time and onyx might have it, in five, sens up 2-1 in the third right now.

NUCKS RIDE HIGH IN TEXAS

Trevor Linden broke a 1-1 tie with just over five minutes to play batting his first of the series beyond Marty Turco's pad. Beating them twice in a row at home, Linden's 33rd career playoff goal gave the Canucks a 2-1 victory in game four. They'll now take a 3-1 series lead back to Vancouver for game five on Thursday!

~Onyx~
I don't see EITHER of those series(Vancouver vs. Dallas or Ottawa vs. Pittsburg) going past 5 games. Dalls MAY have a chance to steal a game in Vancouver beacuse of their veteran, playoff-tested leadership, but they are having the same problems in the playoffs that they were having in the regular season, they couldn't SCORE in a whorehouse if they were walking around with a $100.00 bill sticking out of their zippers, lol.

Pittsburg came-out like I thought they would, and ran outta gas...like I thought they would, lol. In another year or two The Penguins will be a SERIOUS force to reckon with in the east, but as of now, stick a fork in 'em...they're done.
The Mule
If I were Ted Nolan I'd chain DiPietro so he can't go more than 4 feet from the net...one of these times he's gonna get burned. I've never seen a goalie wander around so much....oh well...their problem, not mine

and not to ignore onyx's statement, but the sabres are kinda lucky, i think the islanders are giving them a good run for the series win, the islanders biggest problem???? the same one we had here in ottawa many years ago, no yashin!!! the guy just never shows up in the playoofs, he's making 7.5 million a year, and just doesn't seem to give a crap about the post season, and he's the captain????? i'm sure that status will change in the off season. nolan as done well with that team this year, and if yashin was the player he's supposed to be, then maybe they'd have a better chance against buffalo.
but like i said before, it'll be interesting to see who buffalo faces in the next round, and the rangers are playing incredibly to sweep the thrashers, (sorry coldethyl) and i'd hate the senators to meet up with them in the next round.
i'm hoping for sens vs lightining, cause i think tampa can beat new jersey, and sabres vs rangers.
that's my call for the east.
sens tonight, game 5, and i hope onyx is right, and we're done till next week.

hey, the sens won the presidents trophy(most points in the regular season) a few years ago, and didn't make it past the 2nd round in the playoffs. points and stats and all that regular season crap, don't get you to the stanley cup final.
and i don't think the sabres are going to make it this year.

Sorry Ethyl, I wasn't gonna mention that....besides, I'm not a big Rangers fan as it is(I believe screw the blueshirts is my usual wording), but Jagr being there makes me dislike them even more(I don't care how great he is, he rubs me the wrong way). I sincerely think that whomever The Rangers play in the second round will be they're undoing.

Yep, I said it, The Sens will close-out The Pens tonight 4-2.

I don't know if I'd call The Sabres "lucky" per say, but a motivated Yashin would make a world of difference to that Islanders team....I was surprised that Buffalo actually dropped a game to The Isles considering all the problems NY has in goal, that being said, I expect Buffalo to be in the Eastern Conference Finals against The Sens.

allright, maybe lucky isn't the operative word here, how about, fortunate that the islanders have a pathetic no show like yashin, or it'd be a little closer.
your prediction is looking good onyx, 2-0 in the second, penguins just can't get it going, aaaaahhhhhhhhh too freakin bad.

hey, the sens won the presidents trophy(most points in the regular season) a few years ago, and didn't make it past the 2nd round in the playoffs. points and stats and all that regular season crap, don't get you to the stanley cup final.
and i don't think the sabres are going to make it this year.

er....I used that same line on my kid just a week ago....about regular season meaning nothing....But all the Isles have shown is that they can beat the Sabres one game out of four. The Sabres have way too many forwards with talent. And anyone who's ever won a championship will tell you that good teams create their own luck. Which, I'll admit, the Sabres HAVE done this year. When Miller was injured Biron stepped in and won something like 13 straight...The Sabres have been fortunate in that reguard this season, unlike last season in which they almost took out Carolina with defensemen who were AHL caliber because their top 58 defensemen were all injured. They even considered using forwards on the point the injuries were so bad. Add Zubris into the mix, and Connelly. Vanek, who was benched last season in the playoff for Yashinism, is playing like an All-Star on both ends of the rink. Yashin has never shown up. Satan? When's the last time he scored a goal that meant anything? Yeah, he scored last night...another meaningless goal in a losing effort. Been there, done that. That's why we're not paying him 4 mill. Witt? Is he alive? He's slower than a glacier. That soft ice helped him on Wednesday, but sooner or later he's gonna cheap shot the wrong guy. Speaking of cheap shots, whats with Sillinger? Does he ever hit anyone when he can see their eyes? He really seems to like hitting the back of people's helmets, especially smaller guys. I hope they dress Peters on Friday...

er....i just want to see the sabres out. makes it easier for the sens.
so i'm pullin for the islanders. sorry.
but the sens do it tonight, nice shutout win, vermette was incredible, fisher all over the ice, and emery deserved the shutout, he's come a long way in a year.
so, who's coming to dinner for the 2nd round?
rangers or devils?? of course it would be the islanders should they beat buffalo, and i know it's not going to happen, but one can hope.

and kak, hope the nucks close it down tonight as well.

and credit where credits due, nice call onyx, look into the crystal ball and tell me who in the next round, and how many games it will go.

What about Avery making Tchachuk fight with him...I hate Avery.

Hopefully, the Wild can pull 3 wins in a row.

Go Detroit!
~Onyx~
Can't "hate" Avery, per say, he does what he does best...get in your face and make your react to him....every team has one, Avery just gets more pub beacuse of his "high-profile" run-ins with teammates and opponents alike, lol.

I don't like to count my chickens before they hatch, but I also don't need the park ranger to tell me that the bears s**t in the buckwheat(and now that I've exhausted my cornball sayings for the morning, lol), but it looks like The Sens will be(IMO) matched-up with The Devils(they have the home-ice if it goes 7-games, and they have Brodeur), which should be a TERRIFIC series.

The Isles play their last game of the year tonight...my heart bleeds, lol.

A minor setback for The Canucks, but don't worry(oddly enough) Dallas STINKS at home(losers of 6-straight playoff games in big-D) and I think Louie is FAR from done in these playoffs....give Turco and The Stars "D" some credit, they played a good playoff road-game....but they're time is about up.

Detriot needs to stop foolin around with Iginla and The Flames and close them out, or they'll have a REAL problem closing-out the series if it goes to a 7th game.

I've come to the conclussion that in any sport, when you begin to "hate" one of the opponents players - it's because he works hard and is a pain in the azz, and ....ya know, I want that SOB on MY team!
Kaknelson
AHHHHHHHHH! Calgary is out, Tuzzi here we come.

The Dallas Rednecks forcing game 7....

Who woulda thought? Things not always as they seem.

Don't worry, Kak, Louie will put them in a position to win, it's just up to the team to make it happen......I'm predicting a Canucks victory 3-1 in Vancouver!!!

I watched The Red Wings eliminate The Flames last night...at about 1:00 in the morning eastern-standard time in my neck-o-the-woods, lol......Kiprusoff was great, but Hasek was better when he needed to be.

Looks like The Sens get The Devils, and what a GREAT series that is going to be......The Sens in seven-games.
Kaknelson
Calgary Flamers frustration was obvious, all the cheap shots. Iginla should have stepped up much more physically, he's the leader. Oh well, pitty.

Predictions:
Sens in 7
Buff in 6
Det in 7
Van in 6

"Don't worry, Kak, Louie will put them in a position to win" ^

BRING ON ROUND TWO BABY!

Trevor Linden tipped the winning goal through Marty Turco's pads seven minutes into the third as the Canucks downed the Stars 4-1 in game seven. This series, amoung other things, was a goalie battle for the ages. Vancouver will now face Anaheim in round two starting Wednesday. CLICK HERE TO SEE GAME 7 HIGHLIGHTS!

ooh kak, they did it. 7 games, and turco!!!! wow, was that 3 shutouts and he loses the series???? not to take away from the canucks, you know i wanted them to win, but that's gotta kill turco.
nucks will win the next series in 5, my crazy prediction.
and sorry to see the flames go, only because again of the way kiprisoff played, calgary has to sign him first in the off season, they'd have lost 4 in a row if it weren't for him.
and sens vs devils, thursday night in new jersey. this series will likely go the distance, but ottawa is a different team than they were the last time these guys met in the post season, brodeur is still good, but i think not the genius he once was. redden needs to elevate his game in this series, not really worried about anyone else, and it should be very good.
my upset pick, the rangers over the sabres, in 6. you heard it here first.
