holy moly!!!!!!!
the sens just lit it up last night.
so many goals, havlat, alfie and heatley.
the first line of alfie heat and spezza is amazing.
don't want to get ahead of myself, but i'm gonna enjoy this season.

carolina has figured out ottawa so far this year.
but it's early, and they themselves just lost to atlanta, 9-0
could just be the kick in the butt the sens need.

the prodigal son returns. jaques martin, ex coach of the senators returns to his old rink tonight, as florida takes on ottawa.
should be interesting, and i'm going to the game tonight, can't wait.
i'll catch a puck for ya.
jeceris
sens keep rolling right along, costly win last night as havlat could be out for month.
ray emery sets a league record, and two more games for heatly to break the gretzky record, most consecutive goals with a new team, heatley now at 21 and gretz had 23.

the senators are injury ridden, not looking as much of a sure thing lately, but they still manage to win, except that nasty beating they took from atlanta.
here's the updated injury report if you wanted to know.

and tonight the canadian junior team plays the russians for the gold medal at the world junior championship, should be good hockey.

just bought some more tickets for the game on my birthday, last sens game before the olympic break, against philly.
jeceris

tonight they play phoenix and the great one is in town coaching.

and i hope they didn't bet on hockey.
and gretzky's wife was betting as well!!!!!
coldethyl
I'm going to see the Thrashers play on April 1st in Atlanta, GA USA!
yes.gif yes.gif
jeceris
Hey coldethyl, did you see the thrashers play yhe senators last night???
man it's going to be a long season being a sens fan.
there they were, up 4-2 in the 2nd and they let it slip away like they did the night before with washington. disgust.gif
thrashers look good.
anyone else following the hockey this year.
it's going to take something for the sens to turn and keep pace to make the playoffs, but I'll still go to the games, as it's still good hockey.

Anyone else liking their team???

He's a good player, and your right to miss him, but the Thrashers look great regardless...especially with my main man Scott Mellanby is the Capt....The Panthers should have re-signed him when they had the chance.

yeah.....it's a common trait amongst most canadian men grin2.gif

well, if you really miss him, you can move to boston and watch him all the time.

and frogfish, minnesota is looking good, the western division is much stronger than the east right now.

Canucks got spanked.

Our defence is all injured, defence is HUGE against The DUCKS.

We were forced to pull Luongo, the ex canadian team goalie, ugly.

I still only root for Vancouver Canucks.

Yeah, I saw that the Canucks got spanked pretty good and they had to pull Louie(I don't care if my team traded him, I was a fan of his in juniors and when they traded Kvasha & Parrish for him and Olli I was estatic). Don't worry, Louie and The Canucks will be fine and should be maybe 4th or 5th in the division in time for the playoffs.

My Panthers are on the road against The Sabers and our old friend Lindy Ruff.............bad things, man.....BAD.
~Onyx~
...............and they(The Panthers) lose in overtime.....*exhales heavily*......Bertuzzi can't get back soon enough, it's gonna be a loooooooooooooong season.
Kaknelson
<< Bertuzzi is the man. One of my favorite Canucks ever, along with Bure of course. You, as a panther fan, are lucky to have a player like him, yes. His presence on the ice scares the sh** out of opposing goalie. I wish one day he returns to us.

grin2.gif

Thanks for the support!

Canucks seem to have this recurring problem. They have recently been up by 2 goals, going in to the second period. 2-0, then they let the team catch up, and beat them. I cannot stand this. They need to fix this problem, The injured Willie Mitchell must return soon... soon.

Funny you should mention Bure, he is one of my favorite players as well, but my favorite of all time has to be Steve Yzerman......Stevie Y is the epitome of what a good Capt. should be(along with Messier, of course).

Vancouver should be just fine with Louie between the pipes...and getting the defense healthy couldn't hurt, lol.

The way I see it, The Panthers(if they can stay in the playoff hunt until the all-star break) are going to have to trade-away some young talent(maybe Anthony Stewart or another young forward) to get some good veteran help along the blue-line before it's all said and done, unfortunately.

It also unfortunately looks like Bertuzzi is going to miss quite a bit of time with the back surgery he just underwent....I just hope the boys can keep pace with the rest of the pack until he gets healthy enough to get back on the ice.
Kaknelson
Yes, I hear you man. Panthers competition in the east is slightly easier than here in the west.

Stevie Y was my fav capitan of all time aswell, at 19 he was the youngest captain ever. Great leader and scorer.

Cancuks play Redwings tonight.

I'll keep you posted.
Kaknelson
Yea.... Canucks lots 3-2 to Redwings, even though we out played them.

Sorry to hear that......well, kinda sorry....I was actually a Red Wings fan before the Panthers came in to existence in '93. I used to spend Friday nights with a friend of mine who's family are originally from Detroit (they had this huge satellite dish that they would have the games "pupmed-in" from) and were HUGE Red Wing fans...so I became a fan by default, lol. But as soon as Scott Mellanby scored the first Panther goal against The Blackhawks, I was a Panther fan.

I'm going to try to get to the game between The Panthers and Canadiens tonight.
Kaknelson
Nice, that's a cool story Onyx... grin2.gif

I like Panthers, I also like Canadiens, so... But i'll root for Panths.

I got into hockey basically because I'm Canadian. And, a British Columbian at that. Ever since Canucks got to finals with Rangers in 1994. Yes, in game 7 in Vancouver, woah, I watched it at home. We lost by a goal. We should have won! There was a massive riot in Van that was all over the news and on Real TV, a couple of my friends were involved.

I've met a couple players on the Canucks, including Gino Ojyck and Alexander Mogilny, Donald Brashier, Garth Snow... As a youth I was really in to hockey, I played Ice hockey as well. But I couldn't stay composed when dished out a hit.

I still have 4000 some-odd hockey cards in I closet. I don't mean to tell you a whole life of hockey, but a little was needed.

Growing up many people admired the great John Vanbiesbrouck, as some would pretend to be him in a street hockey game. I was always Stevie Y or Gretsky, sometimes Linden! If I was goalie, Felix the Cat or Kirk Mclean.

Haha. Memories. grin2.gif

I was a big Vancouver Canucks fan around the time that Larionov was there along with Odjick, Linden, Ronning, Courtnall, Adams, Mclean & Gamble in goal...etc(not to mention Bure)............ah, yes memories indeed, lol.

I STILL have my Red Wings jersey that my Father bought for me back in '92....was never able to get it autographed, though angry.gif . I used to spend some winters in Idaho(my Father was born there) with my Grandmother, and we used to play pond-hockey all day.......needless to say, there aren't a whole lot of places to get a recreational hockey game going in S. Fla.... grin2.gif

I think it's great that you have all of your hockey cards.....hold on to 'em!!!!

Man, those Sabers have REALLY got it hitting on ALL cylinders, don't they? I feel good for Lindy Ruff, he's a former Panther coach and one of the really good guys in the sport of Hockey.....but knowing Lindy, he still probably feels like the team could be doing SEVERAL things better, lol.....the man is NEVER happy.

Being a Sens fan, maybe you could help me with this question that has been bothering me for a while. Now that Jacques Martin is The Panthers head coach and GM, what kind of judge of talent is Martin? I think John Muckler was the GM in Ottawa when he left there. I just think that no matter how good a judge of talent he may be, it's just to difficult to be a head coach AND general manager of a hockey club in this day and age.

good question, you know this year it would appear there are a few REAL hockey fans on this forum and it's always good to talk hockey.
jaques martin is a great coach and judge of talent, he just became a scapegoat when the sens couldn't win in the playoffs, and as you saw from last year, brian murray couldn't get them to do it either.
the other ironic thing about martin is he's the only coach left over from the salt lake city gold medal team that is still coaching, hitchcock got fired from philly and pat quinn left the leafs at the end of last year, and i always thought martin was the better coach than quinn.
it's hard to do both gm and coach, and i don't think any team has done well when that has been the case, a recent example fails me at the moment.
i still don't understand the luongo trade, but that had more mike keenan all over it than martin.
he's from just up the road, a place called hawkesbury, just outside of ottawa here, and anyone from this area knows his hockey. i think he'll be looking for someone to take over as gm asap, although at the same time i'm sure he'll put in a word for a trade from time to time.
but you must be a fan, to hang in there, cause i don't think the panthers are going to make the playoffs, but if they do, it'll be good work by martin.
Kaknelson
Sorry to hear about your PS2 Onyx, I have problems with mine 2.

Vancouver Canucks won tonight 2-1 against Chicago Blackhawks today!

But more importantly, BC LIONS WON THE CFL GREY CUP TODAY!

~Onyx~
Congratulations on the Grey Cup win!!!!! Who was the MVP? Being a Miami Dolphins fan(insert pethetic joke here), I'm always interested on how the whole Ricky Williams "deal" with the Argo's has been received in Toronto...man, he's a corn flake.

Thanks for the info Jeceris, I've been a Panthers fan since day one and the '96 team that made the run to The Cup Finals just cemented that fact...it did for ALOT of people down here...but then there was an ownership change...personel changes(the Stu Barnes and Jason Woolley to the Pens for Chris Wells....CHRIS FREAKIN WELLS!!!!....sorry, the pain lingers STILL, lol)...and mediocrity set in....but I go to the games and root for them nonetheless, lol....I love Hockey.

Congrats to the Canucks on the 2-1 victory.....screw The Blackhawks!!!
Thanks for your sympathy on the loss on the PS2, Kak...but fret not...I have a PS3 coming verrrrrrrrrrrry soon, lol.

Don't worry, their lead in the South will be just fine...they're only competition are The Hurricanes(and they seem to be a shell of there former selves)...man, they've got some real scorers over there..Hossa(The Sens should have NEVER let him get away)..Kovalchuk(he and Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin will lead the NHL in to the next generation), and Kozlov(I'm just as surprised as everyone else is..good player, yes..but NOT a leading scorer)........I know your upset about Savard going to The Bruins, but don't worry, The Thrashers have MORE than enough fire power to be just fine.(I see them as a 3-4 seed in the Easten Conference when it's all said and done)
Kaknelson
I will get a Ps3 aswell Onyx... but i'll wait for the second shipment, I want a silver one you see.

MVP was quarterback Dave Dickenson, they said he couldn't win the big one! HA! And, Ricky Williams? He's good, but this game is slightly different, so it take him a while to learn. He's allowed to smoke his herb in this league, and there is no bias against it really, so i imagine he loves that. The Argo's i can't stand, Lions eat Argo's for breakfast. grin2.gif

Yea Canucks bang heads with Redwings again tomarrow. Canucks are now officially a .500 team, 10 wins 10 losses, something that cridicts said wouldn't even be possible because of the old Bertuzzi trade.

Luongo is gonna have to be his best, as Dominiqe Hasek always brings his game face. Redwings are one of the leauges best right now, Canucks need this win. Naslund has been scoring like a maniac lately, I hope he can continue to do so.

When you get PS3 Onyx, hopefully I'll have one too. Then I'll play you online... NHL07. Canukkas vs Panths.

enjoy the game onyx, wish i was there.
i'm heading to florida for a week in january and had allready looked to see if i could take in a hockey game while i was there, but both the panthers and lightining are on road trips while i'm there, so that's that.

beware the sens, the giant has awoken, that's three games in a row including the tight overtime win tonight against philly.

Onyx, nice going with those tickets you scored a good one, updated us. The Sens have been struggling this year, but have got on a roll recently. It should be a good one. grin2.gif

Yea!!!

Canucks win in Overtime at Detroit! Defeating one of the leauges best, they had to overcome the Dominator Domonic Hasek. -- Right off the draw Kessler scored, 18 seconds in, Morrison got the game winner and his second of the night, Naslund also bagged one for his 11th of the season.

Watch the HIGHLIGHTS guys, there really great! Theres a video link under the picture from the game.

Tomarrow we play Nashville Predators, who are just as good or even better. But Nassy is on a roll... I'll keep ya'll updated!

Vancouver Canucks now 11-10

Hey onyx, hope you enjoyed the panthers/sens game.
a lot of scoring and the sens came back twice to win it.
they are playing 500 hockey, yeah!
couple of things i noticed.
martin is now coaching neidermeyer, roberts and belfour, three ex-leafs that caused him nothing but grief when he was coaching the sens, i didn't realise that was the case and thought how the first meeting with roberts must've gone, back then i don't think they liked each other much.
and what is with the ice their, that puck was bouncing all over the place as you saw with heatley's first goal on the open net off the boards with belfour out of position.
it looked choppy and sloppy out there, what's the deal?

anyway, rematch next thursday when the panthers come to ottawa. they still respect martin here and i was at the game when he first came back to ottawa. we all stood up and cheered him when they put his picture on the scoreboard.
but the panthers are better than i thought, and bertuzzi would make a big difference if he was there.
now the sens head to tampa sunday, hope they can make it 5 wins in a row.
coldethyl
Anyone else see the Thrashers get robbed by the Caps???? They were winning until the last 20 seconds of the game when the Caps tied it up and won it in sudden death ot!!!!!! Robbed!!!!!!!!

That's a REALLY good observation Jeceris, my Father was making the same observation....even AFTER the ice had been resurfaced....the first goal was a fluke(but, maybe it was me, but it seemed like it took Eddie half a freakin hour to get back into goal when the puck came-off the boards oddly...he wasn't sharp all night IMO..he played more like Eddie Munster than Eddie Belfour), the second, a great play be Heatley on the doorstep, the third... rolleyes.gif ...Dean Mcammond....I thought he had retired....sheeeeeesh....from there it just got worse and diddn't stop until Heatly "turned the trick"(thought Spezza played a good game, as well)....In the end, The Panthers just diddn't get to the loose pucks fast enough, and showed why they lead the NHL in power-plays given up. Gary Roberts was their only real bright spot...Bertuzzi will be out for some time, and if they can't at least hover at around .500 and keep their head above water, Bertuzzi won't make a heck of alot of difference if and when he gets back. Martin is a class-act and deserves respect, I'm not surprised to hear that the knowledgeable Hockey fans in Ottawa cheered him when he came back..they're class-acts as well.

All in all, it was an entertaining game...and hey..it's Hockey!!!! I think that as long as the puck keeps coming to Heatley(it ALWAYS seems to do just that when your on a goal/points scoring streak, dosen't it?) the Sens should be just fine at Tampa.
