POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Viewers expecting to see the latest local meeting on their public access channel got an eyeful recently when Cablevision played a tape of nude dancers accidentally.

The mistake affected customers in parts of Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam and Orange counties.

Hopewell Junction resident George Morton returned home from Palm Sunday Mass and turned on his television to see a striptease contest.

"I thought, this is terrible," Morton said. "I don't get HBO or anything like that."

Cablevision said Thursday it was not a public access program and that a "program switching error" occurred.

"When it was detected, the programming was removed immediately," Cablevision spokesman Bill Powers said. "We have taken appropriate steps to prevent this from happening again."

Morton said he planned to file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission.

I live about 30 miles north of Poughkeepsie. Maybe I should have turned public access on.

Ha. All I ever see on the public access channels while flipping through all of the other 'nothing to watch' channels is usually teacher's in their classrooms and such. And there is this really disturbing large woman that is one the channel a lot, you can't help but notice her.

Oh you have got to be kidding me..That would have been really funny to see..

Many years ago, when I was a manager at a fast food restaurant, we were instructed to check the end of our training videos. The video tapes have the same training segment (whatever it is -- there are a lot of different videos) in English and then again in Spanish which, in the midwest, almost no one ever watches.

Well, the crew at one of the other stores had been watching a training video when they got busy. They left the tape running while they worked the rush and it ran through the English and Spanish versions both. When the crew got back to the TV, it was showing a strip search scene from a porno prison movie.

Apparently the suppliers had gotten a bunch of used tapes cheap and just taped over them.
