Listening to Evanescence or Linkin Park doesn't make someone the least bit gothic.
Not anymore than wearing black shirts and "bondage" pants. This saddens me. Why? Because everyone who's someone knows I am the resident Amy Lee fanatic. Now, kiss my feet.

This saddens me, too. If this thread and I were here about a year and a half ago, then that would actually go into my title... except the 'Gothic' part.

I can answer you question, though.
I know a lot of people who can't stand Linkin Park. And they don't even like Evanescence. So many people don't even know who any of the bands members are. I didn't know of Linkin Park until last year when I started to get into that type of music. I didn't know of Evanescence into their music video "Bring me to Life" came out. I don't usually like the band until I see a music video or whatever. I dunno why... that's just how my mind and opinions work. Now. I could probably name a lot of people who don't like both of these bands, but I don't think that they would like their names to be up here...

My best friend can't stand Linkin Park. He's never heard of Evanescence before. It's just that we can't all make the impression that everyone like the same thing as ourselves, because it's not always true.

Anyone could've said that I loved Linkin Park last year and I would've said, yeah sure. But if they asked me that in 2000, then I wouldn't have known what the hell they were talking about.

Sure. I like both bands. But not before other people started hating them.

I think hes referring to the fact "Ev" used to be a christian rock band, and then they totally walked away from that image, including threatening legal action against an owner of a christian music chain if he sold their albums.....

That, or because the record label now pushes them where they want them to go (like most bands) and one of the members left for that reason...

Like LP's older stuff, but I hate Evenessance. And I never saw either of those bands as being "goth"ish. I actually see LP as pretty much antigoth, if that makes any sense. Something with their softer songs just could never come out of "goth" music.

I liked Linkin Park when they first came out, but there are more/better bands to listen to.

Yeah, I haven't heard of any bands that have become famous by going against their label's "orders". It's kinda sad how that works, but that is the way it goes. Besides, image doesn't matter to me, It's all the music. That's all it should be, anyway.

i like LP, theyre pretty good. but i dont like Evanesence. im a man. real men dont listen to Evanesence. although Amy Lee is incredibly hot.

I really don't like LP, I don't think they suck as a band but they need to lose Mike, LP is starting to sound like rap music, they'd sound so much better with Chester as the only singer. Evanescence is a great band they're my favorite out of any kind of rock music. I also think is immature saying they suck or saying any kind of hard working band sucks. It really shows you right not to say crap about any rock band. But I say Evanescence kicks ass and Amy Lee is a hard working woman.
Oh yeah Evanescence is coming out with a new cd at the end of this year for the person above who wants to know.

Linkin Park and Evanescence are my two fave bands!!! (Besides Green Day!!!!!!!!) I want to be a part of this group definitly!!!!!

I think Evanescence are an alright band, but Linkin Park suck. Their only good song is 'System' from Queen of the Damned. That song was sung by Chester from LP (not the whole band). He is a pretty sucky singer, but his vocals are much better in that song. Besides it was written by Jonathan Davis from Korn (a way better nu-metal band than Linkin Park) and Linkin Park write crap lyrics anyway.
