SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State has suspended its dance team after a sexy routine at a basketball game triggered a confrontation involving an elderly alumnus and and a 20-year-old dancer.

The team is suspended until it develops guidelines to represent the university "at the highest possible standard," the division of intercollegiate athletics decided last week.

The confrontation, captured on videotape by a parent, erupted after a dance during a March 5 home game to the raunchy lyrics of "Move Somethin'" by LL Cool J.

"It was vulgar," said Ray Silva, 74, a San Jose businessman and major university booster. "It was like a burlesque, with bumps and grinds. I just came unglued."

Silva said he shouted at the dancers: "Trash, that's trash. Get off the court."

Dancer Tarah DiNardo confronted Silva at the end of the game, gesturing emphatically as the two shouted at one another. John Glass, an associate athletic director, stepped between them and grabbed DiNardo's arm, apparently bruising it.

The dancer filed a complaint with police, but authorities declined to prosecute. Her angry father has hired an attorney.

"I don't want people to lay hands on my daughter," said businessman and ex-Marine Joey DiNardo. "There's too much dirty dancing going on," he acknowledged, but added: "You don't grab anyone or call the girls trash."

Tarah DiNardo says the dancers have simply been doing what sports officials asked. "They wanted more makeup, more hair and sexier uniforms" to boost ticket sales, she said.

"That doesn't strike me as anything we'd want," said Mark Harlan, the university's new associate director of athletics. He said the dance team's role is being reevaluated.

Old people just can't accept the fact that people have freedom of expression and control of their own bodies. If they felt it was going to far, they had the choice of not dancing it. Its people like him that are trying to make us all slaves to the old ways. *Dripping sarcasm* I know! Lets bring back slaverly, take away women rights and hey while we're at it lets put children back in sweat shops! Yeah... wouldn't that be a great idea?

You hit the nail right on the head Kratos. They ask the girls to go with a sexier look then have a cow when they do. Its totally ridiculous.

Or they could have just left. We live in the 21st century, things are different. You have more of a choice now.

wow I gotta lot of opinions on this...

as someone who believes everyone should just go nude anyway... I also enjoy tradition and think hedonism is detrimental to society.

Everyone naked in the stands, ok.
Simulating sex in public and passing it off as dancing, not so healty for society.

Would they have come up with that routine if they hadn't been asked to sex it up?

Prudes.

They can send those girls over to my school if they don't want them.

You know, I see both sides of the coin here... on one hand, these dancers I'm sure had a routine that had more to do with sex than dancing. It is rather inappropriate.

On the other hand, these girls do have the right to express themselves however they'd like.

I really don't know what I think of this. huh.gif

I don't feel old at 29, but when I go to watch a game I want to watch a game, not see the gyrating. I don't want to have to stay locked up in my house to keep from seeing half naked chicks gyrating if I don't want to. I don't want to take my kids to see that stuff... I want them to watch the sport!
I love to see gyrating chicks. Really, send them to my house too. But if I can't walk around nekkid, why should I be forced to watch simulated sex when I go to a sports event? Clothes generally suck.

No clue why I'm even commenting since I haven't even seen the routine, but it's like... is it ok if I pleasure myself to orgasm under my clothes in public? woah... was that offensive or "over-the-top" to someone? So that means it's ok then? Not even showing any skin here... not hurting anyone... pretty sure it's not socially acceptable... probably get thrown in jail for it...

When did our entire country turn into puritanical fascists? The FCC is out of control and all of a sudden everybody is afraid of sex and naughty words. We have John Ashcroft covering up the justice statue because it he was emabaressed about a pair of naked breast being seen behind him. The super bowl nipple slip causes the entire country to go into convulsions and sends the FCC on a rampage. Do any of you remember the race car driver was fined an ungodly sum of money for accidentally uttering a naughty word while celebrating his victory! Now dancers are banned for offending an old man at a game. Why is this country turning into a group of prudes?

When 13 year olds are sexually active, I hardly think this means that the whole country is a 'prude'.

YES, I clearly remember that race. It was Dale Jr. my favorite driver since his dad passed away. He said the word sh*t on live tv. When nascar fined him and took 25 points away from him, he wasn't the only one swearing. I know being a fan I swore a good couple times.

I'm more afraid it's being taken over by a bunch of hedonists.

Okay, I'm kind of on both sides here...

The old man voiced his opinion. It's his opinion and freedom of speech allows him to voice that. He was raised in a different time and may have different beliefs, let him yell. It's not hurting anything.
If these girls really want to do these dances, they won't let it bother them.

I totally back up the right for him to yell at these girls for something he doesn't like.

However, I don't support the man bruising the girl. In order to restrain someone, you don't have to bruise them. Why didn't they just ask one of her friends to go get her anyway? That would have worked a lot better, I think.

As for banning the dancers, they only did it to keep the public happy for a little while. They will probably be right back out there next time with a whole new sexy routine.

I think they go to far with the "sexy" sh**. Their are probably little kids watching. I mean damn, at my high school you should have heard the sh** they were playing and dancing to.
