It's Fiesta-time here in San Antonio! It's a week or two of non-stop partying!
We have parades, lots of music, lots and lots of food, dancing, cascarones(eggs with confetti inside. you crack them over ppls heads), beer, margaritas...yeah! I love the music. jazz, tejano...I love the Tejano!
It's loads of fun! Is anybody here going? I know some ppl from around the US come every year. I am most certainly gonna be there!

The more I read your post Feenix Fire, the more jealous I got! We're not big on parades and non-stop partying over this side of the pond (sadly) but I hope you have a great time anyway!

No, not me

The most exciting thing to happen here is the opening of the new library.

Very.
I think the most exciting national event to come will be... the General Election.

No, lol. But whatever it is, I bet I don't like it.

It's probably a gay and lesbian festival. Nothing against them, but it's not really my thing you know...

Britain, imho, is the most bloody politically correct country ever. Some murderer got a policeman put in prison for 2 months because he said he was threatened and assaulted by him when he was trying to arrest him!

Yeah we are. The other thing is the fact that everyone "knows their rights", especially the neds/chavs.
Sure they do...

Apr 11 2005, 04:35 PM
lol!
Sure some burglar guy was breaking in to a house, cut himself on the glass and sued the house owner. And political correctness, that is not true morals, it is ridiculous.

Indeed, the basics of right and wrong seem to have lost out to the colossal power that is the Law.
Anyway, let's get back on topic so this page isn't closed!!

Anyone else have fancy parades/festivals in their towns?

But imagine all the hype if the Olympics did come here.
I don't think we need to waste money on something that could be held elsewhere, with much better facilities.
Elvis
Apr 11 2005, 05:00 PM
Yeah, although perhaps your forgetting a single word that would come in shedloadds with the Olympics and boost Britain's economy as well as put us back on the holiday map - tourism
For every con, I feel, there is a pro.

We hold it Downtown. there are parties everywhere. I usually go to one place. El Mercado. It gets pretty packed but it cool cuz there are about 4 different stages down the strip and cool stands where they sell neat stuff. If you're a drinker, Niosa is pretty cool but you have to pay to get in I think. Then we have like 3 or 4 parades. One is on the river walk, we watch the floats on boats. Its loads of fun. But you should always go with a bunch of ppl, especially if you're a girl. It's much more safe, cuz you do get your wackos sometimes. I'll take some pics and post them here after I ago. It starts in another week or so.

I'd love to see some picks. We don't do much here in Iowa. I live in a town of about 25 people so I have to drive aways to get anywhere with stuff going on. I've always wanted to see San Antonio. I had an uncle who lived there that has since passed away.

oh goodness no. lol. Its loads of fun but it really doesn't get that wild.

yes you're not as likely to see as many boobies at Fiesta as you would at Mardi Gras.
But you know I've never been to Mardi Gras. I only based the statement on what I'd heard about it from friends.

boobies you say?
hmm no. We are hoping to find some pointy hats at this wholesome party.

LoL The hats are one of my favorites parts of Fiesta. I've sported devil horns, a stupid pimp hat, Sombreros! and much more!
