BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A trio of protesters with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals didn't find the welcome mat out when they stopped at a KFC in Brownsville on Wednesday. The sprinkler system was on for them, though.
(little closer..... little more..... HIT THE SPRINKLERS NOW BUCK!)
John Olivo, the manager of the fast-food chicken restaurant, turned the system on full blast to soak the curbside protesters. And a man who eats beef followed them around with his stepchildren and a microphone.
The PETA protesters, including one in a chicken suit, are participating in PETA's campaign to get KFC to pressure slaughter houses to use more humane methods to kill chickens. (Meanwhile chickens outraged at how the humans portray them in suits, saying " we dont act like that at all!")
"They already hit me in McAllen," Olivo said in a story in Thursday's editions of The Brownsville Herald. "I was already waiting for them here in Brownsville."
"You're not going to win. Not in Brownsville," David Ingersoll, of Los Fresnos, shouted through his microphone at the protesters at a busy intersection. His stepchildren passed out anti-PETA pamphlets to stopped drivers.
"I'm waiting for someone to throw a cabrito head at them so they know what part of the country they are in," Ingersoll said, referring to the goat meat that's used in some Mexican dishes.
(wouldnt u die, PETA PELTED WITH GOAT HEADS!)
The PETA members didn't give up on their message.
"It hasn't been quite like this in other parts of the state," said Chris Link, PETA's campaign coordinator, who is traveling to protest KFC in 12 Texas cities.
Link said the group didn't receive harsh treatment earlier in McAllen.
"It's a rarity that we get this," he said after the dousing.
Well huh, Take a hint man!

That's really sad. I really can't stand PETA for reasons like this. They try to hard to try and make people feel bad about their choices of food, but it backfires on them completely.
I think both parties should be ashamed. How ridiculous.

I don't even really like most meat, but I can't stand PETA. I grew up on a farm, killing animals for food was just something that had to be done. I guess I just don't understand the mindset. I love animals. Some of them taste good.

I don't think it's immature of the anti-PETA people at all...for faaar too long PETA's been more concerned, to extreme degrees, with the rights of animals rather than people.
If animals weren't intended to be eaten, they wouldn't be made of delicious, succulent steaks, chicken breast, bacon, etc.

Without getting into the whole lenthy listing of why people don't need to and should not eat animal (although if you do, that is your choice - and if you do choose to, it should be only organic free range animals)
Let me say peta is sort of the extremeist/fundamentalist group of all the eco/vegan movements. It is a shame that some of their actions have discredited their name when there is also a lot of good work they do.

PETA people need to get a life and mind there own damn business of what other people eat. You don't see people who eat meat starting chaos at any veggie stands. They need to stop trying to put there ways down other people's throats.
One more thing. I love to fish, and I am sick and tired of these idiots saying that it is not right to fish. That I am pulling poor little fish out of their environments and cutting them up and eating them like the pig I am.
They are simply a waste of human flesh that are out there to split the world apart. Just like terrorists.

everyone telling everyone else what to believe and do is the nature of society.

...the chicken McNugget...Sorry, it was the first thing that popped into my head and it made me laugh...
As for PETA...I can understand what they are trying to do, and in many cases actually stand on the same side of the issues that they do. The problem is that it seems to me that the folks from PETA that make the decisions have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and a majority of the time they make themselves look like foolish narcissistic zealots that repeatedly fail to get their point across.
It seems like PETA opts for big stunts that get their name in the paper, regardless of whether or not the stunt is going to have an impact on how people treat animals which should be their primary concern...one would think, anyway.

I sound very bitter about PETA not necessarily activists. They take it to extreme just as terrorists do. They are a menace to society. If they want to get their point across they can find other ways of doing it. Not running around naked. Not throwing red paint on people's clothes. Not going around screaming like a bunch of lunatics. When things like that are done, they tend to lose credibility. That's just like the guy,
Eric Rudolph who used a bomb during the Olympics. He said “The purpose of the attack on July 27th was to confound, anger and embarrass the Washington government in the eyes of the world for its abominable sanctioning of abortion on demand"
Sorry if you don't agree, but these people are idiots.

Being a member of PETA Animal Activists myself, I must say that PETA have done some remarkably good work where animal welfare is concerned, but even I can say that they do some crazy ass things, like convincing children that Milk is Murder.
It takes one jackass to make all the PETA people out to be stupid and crazy.

That is very sweet

I just hope it wasn't sarcasm!
My parents, whole family (excluding my uncle) my best friends all eat meat, I still love them. I am vegetarian as I do not wish to be part of something I do not see the need for (personally, that is) I am not trying to stop everyone eating meat, as I know that would never ever happen.
As I said, it only takes one to make a whole group out to be crazy, which is such a shame as it just ruins all the good things PETA do.

milk is murder. i never heard of that one, mind you PETA isn't as vocal up here in soviet canukistan.
i agree that they can get carried away but they do indeed do a lot for animal rights.
It is a shame they would use a line like "milk is murder". What were they refering too? There is not enough of an effort to educate people to the the truth about milk and I hope that they didn't set the efforts back a bit.

Yeah, this is true... Penn & Teller is also on Showtime... Anyway, because PETA is a non profit organization, the public can look into everything they purchase. They happened to purchase a walk-in freezer... When asked why, Penn & Teller found that this is the way they euthanize animals... (they say it's a euphoric and pleasant way to die, which may be true, but, I would rather have the pink juice)
They also euthanize more of the animals that they rescue than the Humane Society... (While the Humane Society rescues more animals than PETA does, they euthanize more animals total)
I love animals, but PETA is way too extreme... did you hear about their road kill bar-B-Q? ewww...

When it comes down to who'd I'd trust in an animal rescue... PETA or The SPCA... I'd go with the SPCA... Atleast thier head of the business doesn't want thier parts fried up, turned into a handbag, unbrella stands and what else have you...
