Full Version: Fears From A Former Life?
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Unexplained Mysteries > Spirituality vs Skepticism
Phantom
Somehow the thought of being crushed to death fears me more than anything else, like being squashed by a giant boulder. More than other, obvious, unpleasant ideas like drowning or burning alive, this thought has a real physical effect on me.

My heart starts pounding like crazy, I get sweaty palms and actually feel the weight pushing on my body. Besides the physical phenomena I also get the feeling of getting emotionally smothered. It's difficult to explain.

As far as I (or anybody for that matter) can tell I never had a similar real experience of being crushed or smothered during my lifetime, not even as a small child.

Do you think feelings like this can come from a former life? Could I have been killed "then and there" and still carry the scars? Even over the boundaries of time and space, if you will? wink2.gif

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Sounds like Panic Attacks to me.
TheOriginalF
Agreed, sounds like your having Panic Attacks....I get them all of the time and experience almost the exact same thing.

My mom is scared to death of the water. She says she's been that way all her life. She gets the same symptoms you've just described, Phantom. She's a firm believer in reincarnation and is convinced she drowned or was in a "Titanic" type accident in another life.
SilverCougar
I wouldn't be surprised if you are experiancing a past life fear... Alot of panic attacks caused by an uncontrolable phobeas do point to past life regression...

Indeed, but that does NOT explain what is causing the panic attacks, as there seems to be no logical reason why he has a dreadful fear of these certain things. So, although I like to stay neutral for awhile, reincarnation sounds plausible.

I myself, though, don't really know of any certain fears I have, or phobias. One I can think of is burning to death, but that doesn't really bother me. On the other hand, there are four images and scenes burned into my mind that I can never be free off, and they've never happenend before. When something in the real world makes these feelings and scenes come back to me, I instantly get goosebumps and get very cold.

The first one is a scene in a desert/plains like place. There is some sort of cement or stone wall, and on the wall is a sandy goat skull, kind of like a baphomet. The area makes me feel like it has something to do with the civil war, or pioneers, but the war more.

The second scene is inside of an unknown building. The floor tiles are the style from the 40-50's, and they are smothered in grime. The whole place is brown and dank, old looking.

The third one is an outside forest scene. There are coniferious trees everywhere and the sun is nearly set, leaving an eerie orange glow over the area. It feels lonely, and I can see the silhouettes of some of the taller trees.

The fourth and last scene is the most recently recalled. The thing I remember most is that there is some sort of old building, and there are old-fashioned style lights, like the one you see over a pool table -- 1880-1920 styling.
-----
These scenes, although not as dreadful as yours, do sound a lot a like. I hope someone can give a shot at explaining why these things happen, I got chills just writing about them. I've also seen a house in the forest scene in a dream, if someone wants to try and help, I will gladly tell more.

I had a phobia when I was a kid and I managed for the most part to rid myself of it. Might be a past life thing, might be a something in this life you can't face and you have transferred your fear to something else. That is what happen to me. They have meds for Panic Attacks if it is getting in your way of living.
Quicksand
I have a phobia walking over manhole covers, or ventilation grills.

So what's my past life experience you reckon?

NO because your brain is unique. you have your own experiences. You started off as a blank slate like everyone in this world. You came from your mother. you have your mothers and father genetic material. Your ' BRAIN ' does not have any other persons memories.

what is this world coming too ?

this should be common sense now, come on now people rolleyes.gif

If anything, it would be genetic

This is an excellent theory Phantom.

I think there's one specific thing everyone fears more than anything else.

My own, strangely enough, involves being cut open and having my organs torn out. I know it sounds absurd, but whenever i think of that, my chest tightens, and i feel like i want to throw up, i can actually feel it happening in my chest, it's awful.
Ugh, there it goes again.

Are we really feeling the pain of a past life?
I guess we wont ever really know, but it is an outstanding theory.

I was Burnside's surgen in a past life...

Maybe that's why you are so into zombie movies, Burnside.... huh.gif

Now I am a super strong swimmer, and as far as I know don't have any phobias, but I do get a weird dizzying sensation whenever I am looking at a vast body of water. I think I mentioned this in another thread a while back, and I thought maybe it was some form of agoraphobia, although I have absolutely no fear of open spaces. Anyone shed any light on that one?

I wouldn't mind being eaten. thumbsup.gif But being cut open, arrgghhh, it literally takes me hours to get rid of this horrible feeling in my bloody, like the tendrils in my body snapping like elastics.

Man, what an awful way to go. I'm glad i'm not living my past life. laugh.gif

Actually, the idea of being on a mortuary slab and having an autopsy performed really weirds me out, I guess because it's a reminder of our mortality.

I am going to stop here, so I don't get all morbid and goth-like laugh.gif

Down kitty!

Oddly... I've been told, I retain this catlike quality from my past lives as felines but one of those past life readers...

No no.. I was never Cleopatra, Amilia Earnheart, or Lassie!

exactly
TheOriginalF
You could also be experiencing repressed memories, something traumatic that happened in you childhood that is bringing about the sense of fear that you are experiencing, thusly causing you to panic. Just because you can't place it in your memory doesn't mean that it didn't happen to you. It could very well be a past life memory but you should explore your own mind first to see if anything is indeed hiding in there.

If we're ever trapped in the wilderness, Burnside is going to be the first one to go.
BurnSide
Hey now, that wasn't to say i WANT to be eaten. Just that, it wouldn't bother me as much as some other ways of dying.
And trust me, i'm chewy as hell.

Now, back on topic please guys.

TEASE!

Or maybe a really big woman sat on me when I was a child... wait a minute...aunty Fanny!
