ORLANDO, Fla. - A high school student was arrested for biting off part of a classmate's ear during a fight that started after he was cut off while driving into the school's entrance.

Jonattan Robles, 18, was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon on school property. The ear of 17-year-old classmate David Roshak was reattached at a hospital.

The altercation began when two cars driven by friends of Roshak cut off Robles as he tried to turn into the entrance to Timber Creek High School. Roshak, who was a passenger in one of the cars, exchanged angry words with Robles.

Robles threatened Roshak and his friends with a black expandable baton after they got out of their cars, school resource officer Daniel Combs wrote in an incident report for the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The friends told Robles to put away the baton, which he did, and fight Roshak without a weapon. Witness statements vary on who started the fight, but the teens ended up on the ground with Robles placing Roshak in a headlock, the report said.

Robles then bit about three-quarters of Roshak's left ear off, according to the report.

But Robles told a different story Thursday night. He said he feared for his life and that Roshak and his friends began hitting him without provocation after he returned the baton to the car.

"I was just trying to save my own life. They were threatening to kill me and bashing my head into the ground," Robles said. "It was a reaction to when they were threatening to kill me. I thought, 'I have to do something.'"

A woman who answered the phone at Roshak's house said they didn't want to comment.

no.gif Could anybody tell me where all this rage in these kids is coming from!!!????
Fable
I'd say television has a good portion involved.

The rage I think is mostly a build up from not knowing limits to behavior, or at least not being shown proper conduct on a regular basis... do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do-can cause a lot of rage buildup, and confusion as to your place in society can exacerbate it... and then the behavior we see is a mimic of what they see in media... for the most part. Then there's just plain bad people, have been throughout history.

That is just viscious! Talk about road rage. I hope the kid gets some reprimand out of this.

TV is not the problem! Its the parents!
Fable
Ah yes the parents. But who puts the child in front of the television and lets them absorb the basic insanity? Most parents are so busy with their own lives that putting a child in front of a screen gives them some freedom. I see it everyday. Children mimic what they view. Children become what they see... and unfortunately it's not the parents that are doing the majority of the raising anymore. It's Mr. Television and Mrs. Cable.

Blaming Tv is just a cop out, the same with video games to. And by saying that adults just stick their childern in fornt of the tv as much as possible, its not the TV`s fault, its the parents!
Fable
I'm not blaming television, I'm blaming the people who make the television shows. The majority of children have no support and must form their personality and morals based on what they see and hear. I work with them all the time and I see it firsthand. They constantly are talking about what they see on television and act it out physically. From that, it becomes part of their personality, who they are. Whether it be violence or moral based, they take it in as part of themselves. 85% of what is on television is highly inappropriate for children and yes, I will say once again, they immitate what they see.

A child just doesn't wake up one day and say "wow, I think I will take a gun and shoot someone because it's fun!" They see it on the screen and they become used to seeing that violence and such and it doesn't mean anything when they go into a school and "shoot it up." Which again, is a term the media made popular. There are many many facts that can be put down here. But truthfully, to deny that it is not a true cause... is the ultimate copout.

The parents don't watch or care for that matter what the children are viewing. And yes, it is the parents fault as well... but without these glorified violent shows, the problems would not be half as bad.

I agree the children become desensitized by the amount of violence shown. What the TV does is make violence a regular part of their lives.
