...turn off system restore and reboot into safe mode...run spybot while in safe mode, have spybot remove the entries and reboot computer into normal mode, turn system restore back on....and you should be all set, if not you are going to have to remove them manually....also make sure you are completly up to date on spyboy and adaware...there were some new updates that came out just last week

DSO exploit is a known bug with Spybot, it means nothing and comes up every time in some cases. If in doubt, always type your search results into Google, it will give you info about it.

I now have things that say it is a high threat...one of them is called Data miner...I really need some help badly.

make sure you are turning your system restore off...this is very important as a lot of spyware hides in the restore points, also do it in safe mode

Could my problems be because I saved and used wallpaper that a mate had posted on a forum?

OK Alice honey and anyone else who's interested follow this guide please...

OK here's what you do, in this order...

1) Download this FREE firewall, ZoneAlarm (not the PRO version, if you select that it won't be free) by far the best on the market... http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/cata....jsp?lid=nav_za

2) Download Spywareblaster, update it as soon as it is installed then enable full protection... http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

3) Download Spy Sweeper and do a thorough scan (click on the link in the "Try It" section at the right of the page... http://www.webroot.com/downloads/?WRSID=21...864dc5f28ffbced

4) Download what is by FAR the best virus protection package on the market, Avast! Home Edition seeing as it does EVERYTHING and is 100% free... update it after install... http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html

This is the recipe to a successfully spyware-free PC... I haven't had any problems using this cocktail... wink2.gif

the wallpaper is most likely not the issue....the main way you get spyware is when you visit websites that automatically download the files to your computer with out prompting you first, and the other is downloading things of P2P programs like kazaa, limewire, napster, etc

I agree with the Webroot Spysweeper. I bought it and PC World Magazine rated it number 2 , 1% behind the number 1 which you also have to buy.

For the antivirus, I have used Avast and it is pretty good, but there is one better out there that is free, for the moment free, it is German and the guy who invented it has hit the big time and will start charging for it. It is Antivi6 goto www.free-av.com I have been using it since 1999. I have used everything out there including norton and mcaffe. Antivi6 is the best I have used. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
