Good find. After seeing the movie(the remake), I thought that many parts of the story were a bit outlandish. But, as the writer of the article said, the truth never stands in the way of a good story.

Good find!

I only truly learned about the Amityville Horror yesterday on the forums, and while it's a good story, I find it hard to belive it.
But hey, I may be wrong!

i liked the original movie so much better---there were a lot of things in the latest movie that didn't follow the book that closely...a disappointment...

I read the book when I was younger, it was to silliest "horror" novel I had ever read. When I finished it I had a major 'WTF?!' moment. Though it was tied together very well, and it was well written, it was just...silly. Reading a few Stephen King books before this showed me how easily those people got scared out of their house. A swarm of flies, who in themselves are harmless; noises (ohtehnoes!); a moving "lion" statue, how did he know one of the kids didn't do it?; and to top it off, a shadowy figure walked down the stairs. If everyone who's seen a shadowy figure moved out of their house and made a book, we would probably dismiss the slightest thought of ghosts. =\
