China Builds Nano-operated Robot

nano-operated proto type robot has been successfully built in Shenyang, northeast of China.

The success has propelled China into a world leader in nano-operation technology.

Researchers at the Shenyang Automation Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, operate via a special microscope and computer screen the nano robot's hand, which is multi-million times smaller than a pinhead. The artificial hand can move atoms like people play chess or write on a tiny area that is as small as one-twentieth of the cross-section of a hair.

Experts say that the nano-bot's precision tops the world, and has provided a foundation for future robots that could enter the human body to manipulate cells.

A nano is a unit of length that measures one-billionth of a meter. Nano micro-operations are applicable to move, carve and assemble on nanomaterials, using a nanoscale.

I need to find more confirmation on this alleged breakthrough. Hopefuly we will hear more soon.

As I remember from a lot of reports and books about nanotechnology, Nano Bots were not supposed to be developed untill around 2020. Well its 2005 and if this article is correct then we have made a significant step forward in the realization of nanobots.

I cant even comprehend something that small. blink.gif This is truly amazing; Thanks for the article. thumbsup.gif
Thanato
My friends brother operates under funding at, i think its Queens Universaty in Canada, and he developed a way of assembaling Nonobots, the unfortinate part is they dont work when assembled because its assembalded with Magnets.

thats awesome news grin2.gif

If it is true then the U.S and other countries are gonna have to play catch up ! lol

The first country to get to the " nano assembler " would be the most powerful country in the world. They would be the most richest, resourceful, strongest military power, ever.

If true this could be an amazing scientific breakthrough with all of the new and exciting things we'll be able to do.

BUT! It could alos turn out to be very bad if sold to the highest bidder and used for some type of bad thing.

I imagine the rest of the world can't be to far behind. This is exciting, hopefully it will lead to great things.

it's a damn micro robot, you guys are getting scared here for no real reason. why would one single micro robot be so damaging? maybe if somehow they are able to make billions of them or something, but still, you probably could barely see an army of billions of these things.

Is there any confirmation on this article??

Could you please give the source that it came from - Thanks! geek.gif

Still looking out for it. its kinda hard to believe and I am still a bit skeptical about it.

Although if its true we should here more news on it this week.

well you would need them to self replicate. once they can do that then they could change around atoms. They would be a very powerful tool. As you could theoreticaly get them to change everything in the world to what ever you want. Like create diamonds out of thin air. Turn you into a banana. whatever you want because things are what they are cos of how the atoms are arranged. These things can re-arrange atoms.

But we still dont know if grey goo is a possibility. They call it " grey goo " scenario because the nanobots self replicate and turn everything into another nanobot

But nanobots can be used for many other good things, spying on enemies, tracking. eating something then when its in your stomach they are programmed to turn into blades etc..

ppl who build things first dont always go on to dominate the market. thumbsup.gif

but you have to take into consideration the chemical make up of substances and the physics behind it all. you can't just take compounds in a banana and tear them apart and make something else. think of the amount of energy required to do something like this. it isn't like piecing together legos.

Im guessing there is still no confirmation on this?? no.gif

The whole aspect of nanotechnology really does interest me in a great deal, it really comes down to the age old question of how big are we?? OR how small are we??

If these very small (our perception) things can create something even smaller than themselves then how far will nano technology really go and who knows how small life would really go down to. I see a lot of articles about the prospects of nanobots making big things but what about smaller things? Isnt the real power often stored in the smallest areas.

There is a great book about this. It is a work of fiction but the facts are all real: called Chasing the Dime by Michael Connelly.
