Its not even a prototype tbh. Thats an "artists impression" of what someone once thought Aurora looked like.
No a Mythbuster really.

No one knows if Aurora is a plane or a conceptural Plane. All someone saw was a word on paper and some money.

My guess is that triangle "ufos" are black birds or stealth bombers. Most of the early reports of them started while both were still considered top secret.

The triangle UFO that I saw didn't look like that and it was completely silent. Moved slowly at tree-top level with red and green flashing lights on the points. It was all white in the center, a bright white light in the middle of the triangle, entire center of triangle was covered with white light. It stood upright, looked like a Christmas tree, moving sideways.

The aurora could not be the explanation for all the triangle ufo sightings because the aurora DOES NOT EXIST. And even if it does exist it could not display the flight characteristics that have been witnessed all over Earth. Also the aurora was supposed to be a design for a new space shuttle. An efficient reusable launch platform for nasa, but did not work out.

I am inclined to believe that all triangle shaped ufo's are human military rather than anything else. They aren't ball lightening for obvious reasons and can't be other natural phenomenon. A military could probably devise a way to make an engine silent as we have actually gone into space and created quantum teleportation. Also triangle ufo's seem like a shape designed for something that is propelled from its base, rather than a classic ufo which is round and has no obvious are for propulsion.
The one thing I would say about them against being military is the sighting in Phoenix (I think), where hundreds or maybe thousands (sorry dont remember) saw this triangle ufo. Why would a government fly a craft like this over a city? I do not know. Maybe something went wrong.
Whatever the answer it we won't ever know or at least for a while anyway. How annoying it is that no conclusive evidence ever arises. I hope I don't have to wait long...

Maybe its for aerodynamics?

yeah I meant to say that too, that would fit in with the propulsion idea.

That Phoenix incident is the biggy. They haven't been able to explain that away successsfully. Maybe something went wrong...and maybe not.
