hey ppl...lol im new here and i was wondering if anybody had any info on Fairies and that type of myths. Im really interested in this and ive been trying to get as much info on it as possible, but not alot of stuff has come up. Itd be great to get some other ideas , thanks

Fairies were supposed to be evil little things blamed for bad luck and bad crops. People would only let their kids out of the house if they carried a bible and some bread (as a gift for their childrens safety). Views eventually changed about faries.

Fairies

My daughter is Fairy mad and we live within a stone throw of the original Cottingley fairy house down in our local woods there are 2 haunts that have been acknowledged as hot spots for fairy sightings in the past, we have a little fairy garden at my house where my Daughter has placed all sorts of wonderful things to entice them here, setting is great with a beck running through our garden and lots of wildlife... I know this has not been helpful to this post but I had to mention it.

Where I come from (Guernsey, Channel Islands) we tend to be a tad shorter than everyone else in the UK and are, according to local folklore, hailed from faeries. Dunno if thats half human half faerie but the idea of humans mating with faeries seems, shall I say "wrong". Anyway, that was of no use to the thread but theres some useless info for you!!!!

Yeah, the Cottling Fairies is a very interesting subject. The fake photographs were a wonder of their own, so well done by girls of such a young age. I suggest you look them up.

That picture kinda freaks me out. (I mean the Cottling Fairies picture)

The cottingley fairy photos as far as I am aware were never proven to be fake, one of the girls Elsie admitted to them being fake before she died but the did the fake photo's to prove the real fairies that they are supposed to have seen by the beck.

i've tried innumerous and random webpages from search engines to look up on faery info. some have been pretty interesting and informative while the others have been a huge load of crap!guess you'll have to decide for yourself and screen what you read. its hard trying to believe every theory on their origin! whatever suits your fancy!

oh and i just thought of this...the works of brian froud are heavy on fae info. good books too. try amazon!

Why do most people draw fairies usually as females? Is it because females are considered more fairy like? 'Cause I object! Yeah, yeah woman are the sign of love, but getting the fact that woman are fairies, is totally racise to me!!!!

lol yea....ive heard many different stories about if the Fairy pics were proved fake er not....I heard that the pictures are soo old and the camera was so old that they couldnt've made them fake....or they but alot of thot into it...thanks for the site guys! helps alot...mi and mi sis are really interested in it..and im tryin to teach her bout it.
