I myself don't watch much TV. My kids are addicted to SouthPark, Family Guy, King of the Hill and The Simpsons

Apr 20 2005, 05:43 PM
I would have to say,
simpsons,
family guy,
american dad,
king of the hill,
CSI,
an old time favorite is M.A.S.H

Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy - the only newer ones I like are cartoons! (geez, what does that say for the quality of other sitcoms today?)
Vintage: Taxi, Cheers, MASH

Apr 20 2005, 09:44 PM
Indeed, since when did a cartoon become a sitcom?

Apr 20 2005, 09:46 PM
Point taken! There ARE no good 'sitcoms' in the strict sense of the term! Topic question was maybe meant to be 'Favorite Comedy Show' ?

Almost forgot All In The Family - but recently watching one, it seems to have not aged well, feels 'dated'.

Well I just like The Simpsons and Family Guy. I'm still not sure about American Dad.

Todays sit coms are smelly. I don't think I've watched a sit com for yrs. My 2 all time favs are:
I Love Lucy
M.A.S.H.
If cartoons are considered sit coms, I'd have to say Family Guy.

I really liked News Radio. It had just a good cast with good chemistry, especially before Phil Hartman was killed.
TV today is almost all crap.

I'm now pretty much a movie watcher.

Man I feel embarassed

. I like to watch Disney Channel sitcoms like 'Thats So Raven', 'Phil of the Future', 'The Suite Life of Zach and Cody' or 'Sister Sister'...I like watching Raven more.
And here you all are watching the more mature sitcoms

. Thats So Raven is on! I gotta go.

I was just watching Friends...
...That show is too fast. They're all trying to hard to shoot off one liners.

Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond, by far. Seinfeld had really, no point. And Everybody Loves Raymond is just comedy at its best.

I have never actually watched a full episode of it.

The best sitcoms I have seen so far are: Three's Company, especially Suzanne Somer's last full season with the show. Married With Children, starting with season two on...because in Season one, Peg cooks, the fridge is full of food and Al actually cared about the brood.
Also near the top of my list are The Golden Girls, and the Honeymooners. Cheers is also okay, especially after Shelley Long left.
Other sitcoms I used to watch are Too CLose For Comfort and The Facts of Life (yikes!!!!)
Sorry AncientMyste, MASH is so overrated.
I am proud to say I have never watch a single episode of Seinfeld or Friends.

Sienfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond and Will and Grace are 3 of the most unfunniest and over rated shows in comedy history. I have seen an episode or two of each and the corner of my mouth didn't even twitch to anything that might resemble a smile at them..
Anywho, everyone know that the best comedies come from Britain..
Phoenix Nights
Max and Paddy's Road to No-where
Red Dwarf
Blackadder
Peep Show (everyone needs to see this, it's pure genius)
I'm Alan Patridge
The Office
Men Behaving Badly
Fawlty Towers
One Foot in the Grave
Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps
Dad's Army
Mr. Bean
Only Fool's and Horses
America does have some good sitcoms though...
Married with Children
Friends
Fraiser (The sequence where Niles is in Fraisers apartment alone and he's ironing his pants of something is one of the funniest visual comedy moments ever IMO, rival only to Mr. Bean. David Hyde Pierce plays it so well)
Scrubs (is very good, one of my fave things on at the moment)
The Simpsons (going downhill)
Futurama (shame they cancelled it)
Family Guy (So good they brought it back)

Oh and let us not forget the new Doctor Who... Sadly though, I don't think it means to be an actual comedy

Crow I agree with every single one of your British choices, as for the American choices I only like these 2 - Friends & Married with children, but I would like to add 'Dead Like Me' I think that is good.
But basically I prefer british comedy - it is more suttle with lots of inuendo, sarcasm, slapstick and swearing.

You've made my list
I think the office is the best from that list. Theres a lot of advertisments for peep show lately. It actually looks pretty good.

I'd have to say Seinfeld.
And I just realized that it's already been a year since Friends ended. That was ridiculously fast....

the crow's list is the best so far i'd have to say.
my list include many of those shows.
only fools and horses
blackadder
red dwarf
seinfeld
father ted
simpsons
family guy
fawlty towers
but the worst.....3's company.
it was crap, predictable situations and formula comedy, the original, man about the house was at least a little better.
