Fascinating. I read a book years ago wherein the ancient Sumerians were claimed to have owed their genesis to an alien race called the "Nefillim" . However, because this is all new to me about fiery flying serpents, I conducted a yahoo search on keywords:seraphim's translation Hebrew fiery flying serpents
and found these links.
In all the references to Seraphim's I don't see that the fiery is indicative of the translation meaning a full, fiery flying serpents.
http://www.answers.com/topic/seraph Rather it is said to denote, "Fiery" only.
However, in the course of a Yahoo, this article seems right up that alley.

Yes, you generally will not find the Seraphim identitiied as flying serpent and dragons on Christian based websites, because of the identification with Satan, but it is really an undeniable fact, as I believe was demonstrated in the Satan thread. They are really quite stupid in this matter. The ancient Jewish and Christian scholars translated the word Seraphim to Dragon, and their artwork depicted these dragons around the throne of God just as the Seraphim are described. The Bible also indicates Satan is an important Heavenly creature, and also called a dragon, exactly like the rest of the Seraphim. But modern Christians seem to have the idea that if Satan is a dragon, the "good" seraphim cannot be dragons too, so they have come up with all of the convoluted and improbable explanations to explain why the same "seraphim" are fiery flying serpents in the 'book of Numbers, but humanoid, "cartoon" angels in the book of Isaiah.
The Ptersosaur article has some good info in it, but this guy's agenda is completely different again. He is trying to say the dragons of the Bible are simply prehistoric pterosaurs, to prove "young earth creationism" and doesn't want to confront the issue that in Isaiah they are the highest heavenly creatures.
