For me, it was Meatloaf's 'I would do anything for love (but I won't do that)' That just did something for me that no video ever has.

Don't like nor do I have an appreciation for music videos. I find music videos to be thieves, robbing people of their imaginations.

Any way, it is like the best song ever.

My fav video:
1) "One" by Metallica: This video is awesome. I still remember the part where the dude says to the nurse "kill me, kill me!" and the ending was just AMAZING.

Other music videos I really like are David Bowie's 'Thursday's Child', Smashing Pumpkins' 'Tonight Tonight' and Queens of the Stone Age's 'Go With the Flow'.

Smashing Pumpkins Tonight tonight is an AWESOME music video, one of my favorites...
Right now, I cant exactly think of one music video i like, now, its just either people standing in a parking lot playing loud power chords or scantily clad woman lip synching to their crappy, talentless songs

I liked Dire Straits "Money For Nothing"... but some of those others ya'll mentioned are pretty good (Sledgehammer, Thriller) Faith No More's "Epic" was pretty cool too...
Edit: Yeah, thinking about it, Metallica's "One", Slayer's "Seasons in the Abyss", and Megadeth's "Hangar 18" were pretty dang cool also...
And the J. Giles Band
oo oo... and that one that's half black and white drawing, like by the police or phil collins or something... I forget what it's called... he like goes through a mirror to get to this pencil drawing of a chick... was a cool video...

Definately "Highway Star" by Deep Purple...the song is groovy and the video is constantly all psychedelic looking and keeps changing, even though they just show the band playing.

Good heavy metal lacks a large ammount of music videos that are anything more than the band playing in a weird setting. I'd say some of my favorite videos would be Bathory: "One Road to Asa Bay", Kamelot: "March of Mephisto", and Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames". Not that the DF video has a whole lot of amazing visual appeal, but it gave me an even better grasp of how complicated the guitar pieces are for that song. Also, the solo part was just so cool to watch.

Exactly... music vids focus too much on the bands... that's why i love TOOL's music vids; because the band isn't in it, so we focus more on the art used in it...

I actually think the band should be in most music videos, but they shouldn't be the entire focus of it. One example of a decent music video was Nevermore's "Final Product". It has the band playing so you get a sense of the technical applications and the way the music is presented, this for me helps me connect with the music more. But also, it has some activity representing one way of viewing the song (the dude in the cave-like place). My opinion-I have my own way of visualising the song. A music video is just something cool to watch when you're bored.
All right-done hyjacking the topic.

"Silver & Cold" + "Days of the Phoenix" are much better AFI videos.
