Darlon
I keep reading about this St. Malcahy (or however its spelled) "prophecy", and I have some questions.

1) Is there any credibility to this prophecy?

2) Does the new pope (I mean Benedict XVI) fulfill the prophecy? I ask this because; this pope is supposed to lead the fight against evil, but I don't see any of that coming out of Benedict XVI (did that make sense?)

3) This is confusing me because Jesus said that no man may know the hour (or something to that effect), yet we have this 11th century monk who says about the last popes, so my question is this: Is the last pope REALLY the last?

4) This question is the MOST confusing of all: This prophecy speaks of the "you-know-what" (hint: ALL prophecies have this at the end), heres the confusing part.
I keep hearing that it doesn't actually mean the EOTW (end of the world) but the end of the church or some other hocus-pocus.

I ask these because; I hate to admit it, but I'm actually terrified.

I have my future (somewhat) planned out, but I don't want my plans to be for nothing.

In other words: Is this true, or is there someone making a sick joke?

don't worry about it. you will always find someone making predictions, and another who will believe those predictions.

just live life and don't let yourself become imprisoned by such things.

It does not take prophecy to interfere with your plans. Anything can happen. That is the magic of life. It wouldn't be any fun at all if some all-knowing creature had our lives all pre-planned and we were just running the course now, would it?

if you ignore religion, it may not go away but at least it won't drag you down with it.

Hi Darlon and welcome to the forums.

Its not someone making a sick joke no, its the result of people that cant live a positive life, they are depressed, and unhappy, and have to try and make others that way to. Plan for your future, and ignore the people that wish to terrify people, if you start believing this crap and obsessing over it, you will become like the ones that preach this evilness.

Live your life with love, and care about those around you. Lunatics and depressing people have been trying to direct there hate and fear at others for 1000s of years, for 1000s of years they have been trying to convince others around them that "the end is nigh" do not become apart of there crap and fear trap of hate and terror, get on with your life. Make more positive plans for you and your family, and make a positive change in the word, rather than negative oppressive ones like so may people do. People will be trying to convince the world that the end is near 200 years from now, as they where 200 years ago. Please do not fall into there trap, being you say your already terrified makes me think they have got there claws into you already, please do not listen to scare mongering, the only goal they have is to make you terrified of life, like they are, and to try and recruit more members into there fearful cult. Fear is a cancer and it spreads, so the cancer of fear can spread causing more and more evil, do not let it inflict you. These people claim to be godly people yet they spread fear something there devil is famous for loving.

Do not become a victim of fear please, your life will become joyless if you let it consume you, move on in your life, and live it while you can, its a blessing believe me.

all the best

I'll try not to fall into that trap, to be honest though I don't REALLY believe it, its just there some things in there that sounds convincing, yet they are too vague to make any sense.

thanks for the encouragement though original.gif

note: I don't scaremonger other people, I am NO preacher, just thought I'd let you know.

note 2: My family doesn't believe this prophecy either (I ask mom about this, she doesn't, and I KNOW my uncle doesn't)

when you said that i thought of the cults you mentioned above. they too claim to love you.

or better yet: remember brother love? "i love you", just before his wrestler socked it to you! wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

love is an overused word and has lost any meaning in speech. (just like all the other touchy-feely, morality, and judgemental words).

respect, understanding, enlightenment guide you. love is like a lolly-pop.

Thats true, fear IS powerful.

But the prophecy still confuses me (not in a fearful way mind you).

Hi hyperactive

Your right, but I was using the word love in the sense of loving your family and your self. I know what your talking about though, as I have studied religious extremists a lot, well basically cult like behaviours and that "love" you talk about is not love, its just a word to the ones that use it, just like hate is, they have a craving for power, and to have people follow them, and will say anything to make sure they get it.

I have a right to reply to this post and state my beleifs so for the record please I ask that noone call me names or ridicule me cuz I have a right to speak.
So anyways dear, noone does know the hour of when the Jesus will come back. But if you have beleifs of end times then you can see that alot beleive that we are living in the end times. Many beleive that the pope will fall at the knees of the Antichrist and will be blinded by his miracles and such. Cuz the ten horns are supposed to represent the Roman Empire and the Vatican. That the pople will be a follower of the Antichrist as so will most the world.
So beleive what you will dear. Just look stuff up cuz I don't know if any of what I said will be accuate but it speaks of it in the bible. You just have to find out for yourself and what you beleive. Go to revelations if you wanna know some intersting stuff which I'am sure you have read anyways..Good luck to ya dear!! original.gif

I guess it all depends on your beliefs Darlon. If you think that someone can foretell the end of the world, or the end of a particular organization, then I suppose that you may have something to worry about.

If, however, you do a little research on "end of the world prophecies", you will find that there have been people throughout the ages stating that "these are the end times"

In the end, EOTW doomsayers, if they are correct, have no one to boast too; on the other hand, if they are wrong, they shrug their shoulders, grin, and say "well I must have mis-read the omens. And you know "Know man may know the hour, etc".

So its a win/win situation for the prophets.

First, lets define what it was, so we can all start on the same page-I for one did not reconize it by name.

St. Malachy's Predictions:

Source:http://home.att.net/~thehessians/St.Malachy.html

In 1138, St. Malachy predicted the entire succession of 112 Catholic popes from Celestinus II (the pope in Malachy's day) to doomsday.St Malachy of Armagh made a chilling prophecy in 1139 that the world would end with the death of the 112th pope.
The current pope, John Paul II is the 3rd to last remaining pope, according to Malachy. Malachy called him "De Labore Solis" - "from the Sun's labor" and John Paul II was born on a total eclipse.
The 2nd to last pope is identified by Malachy as "Gloria Olivae" - "glory of the olive". (Some prophets believe this pope will take Leo XVI for his name and will bring peace between Israelis and Arabs) St Malachy predicts that Pope John Paul II's successor will be an active peace-making member of the religious hierarchy. But he will die in 2008 with his work unfinished and the next pope - called Peter of Rome ("Peterus Romanus") - will rule until the Apocalypse in 2020.

In Malachy's words:"In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, Peter the Roman, will occupy the See, who will guide his flock through numerous tribulations. These tribulations past, the town of seven hills [Rome] will be destroyed and the terrible Judge shall judge the people."

I would not worry too very much about this. The end of the world has been predicted many, many times and yet it is still here.

It's been mentioned already, but I'll say it again. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. You answered your own question when you pointed out that Jesus says no-one knows the hour of his return - only God does.

You might be interested to know that when the book of Revelation was first written, 1st century Christians believed that the second coming of Jesus would be in their lifetime, so they stopped what they were doing to wait for Him. This prompted some of the apostles to actually write to them warning them not to stop their daily routines.

Since then, pretty much in every generation, there are people who believe that the EOTW will occur in their lfe-time.

Take the advice of the apostles then and don't give up your life to sit and wait stupidly for something that may or may not happen.

Until next time,
