well i was camping (again) in aspine grove (sp) and its near penticten i belive and i was there with my scout group. it was satruday night this weekend and we were telling stroys.
" some of the lakes here wenrt actually lakes about 300 years or so ago they were actually mineing shafts (the lake were small) and they were mining for copper there. so they start diging down and they find losts of copper about 1 mile below the earth and they got lots ot but a few days later they got trapped in the shaft and they couldnt get out. they wited a few days thinking the company is going to dig them out but they didnt no that if the company were to dig them out there wouldnt be enuff copper left to make it profitalbe so they just left them there. about a week past when they sarted going crazy and eating eat other. there eyes agusted to the dark so they had almost full wight eyes with very small pupils. after about another week they decided to try and climb out at this point there was only about 2 of them left and they were going nuts. once they reached the surface it was dark so they were lucky cuz there eyes would just fry. then the miners were very skinny and hungry and they sort of looked like cryptids cuz they had small eyes and were skinng and covered in blood. then they satred feeding on campers and that was the end.

after the camp i sort of reasearched (sp) it and i found info on it. now i dont noi f it is truee or not but maybe any1 else nos bout it tongue.gif

Interesting, but hardly believable. Oh well, I try to keep an open mind. Sounds pretty wierd. Like Gollum.

If they were in the dark, wouldn't their pupils be bigger as to let in more light? tongue.gif

Sounds more like a camp fire story to me. thumbsup.gif It could be true, you never know. dontgetit.gif
Undefined_innocence
The pupils would be extremely dialated. Like they were on crack or something. They wouldnt retract easily or quickly so the light would damage thair eyes.
But anyhow.. freaky story.. i dont believe it to be true though.

Sounds like another campfire tale run amuck with the sole purpose of puttin' a little scare into the scouts yes.gif

Don't believe everything you hear.

In fact, ignore most of it grin2.gif

Thier eyes may very well have been ultra-sensitive after 2 weeks in the dark; and the light may have hurt them at first; but the human eye cannot adapt to the darkness so completely that it's destroyed by sunlight in a mere two weeks..
That's the kind of thing that would take generations of dwelling in near total darkness to happen; if it did at all. Also, regardless of profitability, if a company knew men were alive down there; they would attempt to dig them out. They may decide to not mine there after; but they wouldn't just seal the hole and leave. Then they'd be facing manslaughter charges most likely
I tend to agree with Mr. Halo. Probably some miners were trapped and died and a legend was born..
