Full Version: Will we ever travel at the speed of light?

This is a question that I'am waiting for to be answered. Personally, I think that we can; just not in our lifetime or maybe. I'll begin to explain about SOL. The SOL (not sun; its just a abbrev. for speed of light) is 670,000,000 MPH and 279,166,666 m/s. In the Brian Greene's Elegant Universe, he clearly stated that when Albert Einstein was alive he said no object can ever go at that speed or even come close. But during the past decade Scientists have proven Einstein wrong. Because you see, in order to travel at the SOL you have to have infinite energy to maintain and reach that speed. But somehow, scientists have found out, by using computer models, that it proved or showed that Aliens who approach our Solar System or Planet arrive here at the SOL and even thousands of times more than the SOL. Of course you all know that Scientists know about their flight patterns and how they propagate through a certain medium or a dimension. Well anyways, scientists have or still are working to determine their actual speed. I tell you all right now, these are not Theories! Scientists and Engineers have made calculations and let the computers solve them and observe or make models of UFO flight patterns. Like you guys all said UFO can be man made or Aliens. I will get back to my question now. I do think we have achieved and broke the light barrier by using their(the aliens) vehicles when they crash. But I find that sorta weird, because I think (I'm not sure), that when u go at the SOL you get demolecularized. I think If a human was suppose to travel in one of these vehicles, the vehicle must have artificial gravity to hold u down and together. And I think one another problem is when u go at the SOL there is so much G Force not even a human will survive for more than a sec. With all said I do think we can and I do know for sure that aliens who come here, whether from a 11 or 12 dimension universe or the Center of our own, can travel with ease through space by means of traveling at the SOL. One other thing, I have read about something when you go at the SOL you go ahead in time too. Because when u travel at the speed of which photons(light) travels your time slows down or ahead (this part confuses me lol it sux). If this is right, which I think is, then aliens have come here from the future with technologies thousands or millions time more advanced than us.

i didnt even read your post but the answer is no

e = mc^2

energy equals mass times the speed of light squared

basically in order to travel at the speed of light you will energy, in order to get the energy you will need fuel, fuel adds weight, the more weight the more energy you need to propel what ever you are traveling in, therefore speed of light travel is impossible, not to mention you would have to be massless to travel at those speeds anyway, so in conclusion only light and gravity can travel at the speed of light because they have no mass

Fuel. Wat kinda fuel? Hope u aint talking about Gasoline. lmao. It may me impossible for us but not for the aliens. How do I know? Dont no. Maybe because they are much smarter and know how to travel at the SOL some different way. And plus if u take time to read the rest maybe youll know more.

A better question:

Where do the trains go? hmm.gif

im not one to "be had" on this subject, im not a scholar, but i know of the topic quite extensivly, in order to move ANYTHING you need energy, doesnt matter if the energy is gas, oil, hydroelectric, solar, or what ever other propulsion you have in mind, and it doesnt matter what you are moving, einsteins equation holds true, in order to travel at any speed, you need energy, the more energy means the more fuel, and the more fuel means more weight, more weight means more energy and the circle continues (again it doesnt matter what you are using for fuel)

one last thing, its theorized that you will travel back in time at speeds greater than the speed of light, but because speed of light travel is impossible that theory doesnt really matter

Alryt thx seeking. I was just making sure. U did have a good point though. And I know that equation and all the explainations. Its all true. Just like in that other dudes topic. Called "My travel Theory or something". All the people who replied on that are right. Especially that person who said u need infinite energy and be massless to travel at the SOL. Yea and plus it doesnt matter wat kinda technology u have or how advanced u r.

Our current physics states that as a mass approaches the speed of light, it's mass grows infinite, and therefor can't get to the SOL.

We assume we know it all, in reality, we probably know very little of the world around us.

Everyone knows you can't go the speed of light.

Everyone knew the Earth was flat.
Everyone knew the sun and planets revolved around the Earth.
Everyone knew you can't go faster than the speed of sound.
Everyone knew you can't go to the moon...............................

We are limited only by our current technology. look how far we have come in the last 100 years, and try to guess where we will be in the next 100 or 1000 years.........

Oops, I do believe that the formula you posted is one for converting mass into energy, and the "c" is in fact the speed of light. For propulsion, it would be F=MA, or force equals mass times acceleration. This was a Newton formula, and Einstein determined that it was good only for relatively low velocities, and that as the velocity of an object increases, its mass also increases, requiring more and more force to maintain the same acceleration as velocity gets greater. Still, I do remember when I was a small lad, and the best aeronautical scientists were quite convinced that the speed of sound couldn't be exceeded in an aircraft, too (the belief was that an airplane would be physically destroyed when passing through the sound "barrier"). Until the X-1 came along. wink2.gif

I know, I know!

The trains go to big bays which are covered where theres lots of trains all sitting on seperate rails. MY local one is london. yes.gif happy.gif
