Cambodian Troops Quarantine Quan'sul
There has been a small outbreak of “zombism” in a small town near the border of Laos in North-Eastern Cambodia.

Cambodian troops moved into Quan'sul after Malaria victims attack populace.

The culprit was discovered to be mosquitoes native to that region carrying a new strain of Malaria which thus far has a 100 percent mortality rating killing victims in fewer than 2 days.

After death, this virus is able to restart the heart of it’s victim for up to two hours after the initial demise of the person where the individual behaves in extremely violent ways from what is believe to be a combination of brain damage and a chemical released into blood during “resurrection.”

Cambodian officials say that the outbreak has been contained and the public has no need to worry.

General Ary Serey had this to say, "We have obtained samples of this new virus and plan to learn how it starts the heart and other major organs of the deceased. We intend to use this to increase the quality of life for all."

US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice opposed the plan saying that the Cambodian government holds a great biological weapon and should destroy it immediately. Cambodian officials have yet to comment.

A United Nations team will be dispatched to Cambodia to confirm the safety of biological research in Cambodia.

Walken
Yup. I can already see this on missiles.

Could be a hoax or, more likely, a cover up. Very intresting story though.

Thank god I've read the zombie survival guide. Me and Burnside will be safe. yes.gif
BurnSide
Yes we will.

It didn't get as much attention as i thought it would. What, you people don't care that the world is gonna end!?

Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Fooled me for a few seconds. Then i checked the URL.

If you click on one of the links on the page, it'll take you to the ACTUAL BBC World page, the Zombie Outbreak page is a very clever joke.

Oh well. At least it'll be more fun when it does happen.

I often wonder about the media reaction. It would be awesome to experience.

You didn't fool me dude, I remember seeing the pic of that weird fish before, but you sure freaked out a lot of people. Good one! thumbsup.gif
Elfstone810
Yeah, I recognized the picture too. Isn't that the one that keeps getting posted as a "chupacabra"? It's really a picture taken by some guys who make monsters and do special effects for the movies?
ColonelJ
HOLY CRAP! Good one, BurnSide! wink2.gif
tiddlyjen
grin2.gif *giggles*
awww but now what do I do with my Zombie-killing dart gun!?
BurnSide
Actually, Elfstone and others, the original picture was simply a bunch of guys on trucks rounding up civi's.

It was linked to the original site, and since the site has now changed, the picture has also changed too. Coincidence, i wouldn't try and fool anyone with that picture that's just silly. tongue.gif
VirusPunk
If this story isn't true then how do you explain this...

Cambodian villagers pick up a decapitated "zombified" head from off a sewage drainage.

You all laugh now, but wait until the virus reaches your neighbourhood, then will you be laughing?
BurnSide
VirusPunk, obviously you are new here and inexperienced to the forum, so i'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I explain it with this link:
http://www.snopes.com/photos/gruesome/chupacabra.asp

It's an artist rendering.

Ever heard of a fake picture? tongue.gif
Walken
Yuppers, that picture crops up as all kinds of things. Alien corpses, zombies, El Chuparacarbra. It should be banned ohmy.gif
BurnSide
How do you ban a picture from the web? laugh.gif Once something starts circulating, it doesn't stop until everyones sick of it.
Walken
"Take off their hats."

"Popes into a volkswagon!"

grin2.gif
star_child
lol! Very good.

Although this is a joke, I think there is a type of worm that causes 'Sleeping Sickness' . It lays its eggs in water, and when people drink it, the worms hatch out. It is fatal, and before you die, you go into a deep coma, and the native Africans think it is the work of Zombies. Very interesting disease, I'll try to get something about it.
Nxt2Hvn
Actually.. I have seen a program .. a while back on the Discovery Channel that talked about true Zombies... .. but can't find anything on the web about that program... huh.gif

I will post it if I find it...
BurnSide
That would be the Haiti voodoo zombies. Not 'undead' but drugged into a trace-like state where the victim forgets everything about his entire life after waking up from a short coma, and becomes a slave of will to the one who drugged him/her.
star_child
Yes, I read about that somewhere! It is so strange, yet fascinating too. blink.gif
Undefined_innocence
Wow... for the first page of this...i was freaked out.
Now.. im gona have bad dreams for a few nights like i did when i seen ' Dawn of the dead '
GEE THANKS BURNS!! Ya bully!!
haha,..j/k.... but that was a bit freaky to start off with.
BurnSide
hahaha awesome, it claims another victim!!
And while we're on the subject, part two is posted. thumbsup.gif
GoddessWhispers
What a story, thank you for sharing. original.gif

user posted image I read the title of this post and the first thing that came to mind was the movie (& imho a masterpiece), "The Serpant and the Rainbow".

The book/movie was based on a little known drug, (at the time) discovered in Haiti. When applied to it's victims (by inhalation or contact with mucous membranes), it incapacitates them because the drug paralizes the central nervous system, giving the impression of death. (no discernable pulse, pupilary reactions, etc...)

It's a hell of a movie and certainly one that provides a real life warning for those who may consider traveling to Haiti ; don't piss off the locals!user posted image

*image edit*
BurnSide
Indeed! While unconfirmed offically, i don't doubt that it's possible. They would drug tourists and use them as 'zombie' slaves on plantation fields. The victim would be in a constant state of mind-lock, basically having no thoughts of their own, only existing to do as they are told.
VirusPunk
In Haiti, people eat these puffer fish that turns them into zombies.
BurnSide
Close, but not exactly. Try reading the topic instead of just the first reply, you'll see that's been discussed.
