A group of students who use a 120-year-old opera house for band rehearsals have been so spooked by the experience they believe there's a real phantom in the opera. Not long after the students began using the Scott Opera House for band rehearsals a year ago, the ghost stories began, said Judy Cowling, president of Historic Fairmount.
There were eerie noises, some students said lights would go off for no reason and things would move from one place to another. One youngster even reported seeing the face of a bearded man. Cowling, whose group owns the building and hopes to renovate it, doesn't believe the building is haunted.
