Which film?
I write screenplays from time to time. I rarely finish them.

I don't record films, but I love directing in drama. I wrote a mini-play once for my sister about magic crystals. Well, a page anyway. She hated it.

Writing a play is completly differnt to writing a screenplay. There is a lot more things to considor.

I write scripts I'll post some when I get them copyright protected, As for films well I still have not finished one, I run out of money or interest before I complete them.
what genres are you guys interested in?
For me its noir, suspence, erotica, drama, sci-fi, experimental, black interest, and philosophical driven.
edit: I meant erotica not "exotica" cool movie though!

Yeah, it is indeed.
It is easy in drama class, we have the 'stage' there to work on our entrances and actions. I don't know how to go about writing a screen play.

Horror, suspense, comedey. Mainly.
I'm useless with romantic sub-plots. I completley gave up on them. You won't find them in a single screen play of mine.

Romance bothers me, it is never real.
I like doing funny plays, I must have a go at screen plays sometime. We will probably cover it in one of my many different drama groups.

It's fine in a romantic peice, but romantic sub-plots tick me off.

My friends an aspiring horror director, God knows how he's going to kickstart that dream, but I'll help him. I've read his scripts, some bizarre yet amazing stuff, he really gets into it when filming though.

I'am an aspiring director.
I love watching movies a million times and finding out things in it that are wrong and don;t make any sense.
If and when i make a movie i want teverything to be perfect and nothing to be out of focus or anything like that.

You should like Martin Scorsese he feels the same way, but all directors should work with that intensity.

i'm a perfectionist as well.
Walken
Apr 30 2005, 07:52 PM
That doesn't exactly make you a perfectionist. Some people like that feel, such as mistakes put in on purpose as Easter eggs. Like a sign in a butchers window of a zombie film saying 'Human thigh half price'.

Film school do you guys think its practical?
I think I should go to one, most of the succesful filmakers go to film school, I don't think I could ever get a film done by not going to one.
Any of you guys went to one?

Well if I could record the images in my head then I could sell them as films. When I'm doing huge mail outs my mind wanders and soon My own film about Daleks is playing in my own head. It's awesome!

I think you are the only person on the planet that would list Boxcar Bertha number 1 on a list of Scorcese films.

Not that Barbara Hershey wasn't a hottie, but still. It was a very clunky, silly, over-the-top sort of film. But hey, we've all got to start somewhere.

Right now I'm studying civil engineering (first year), but my dream is to study cinematography after getting my diploma

Fav genres: action, sci-fi, comedy (though I suck at it

)
And my fav Kubrick movie would have to be 2001. Awesome, though I think the ending was kinda weird

Hey!
I'm a filmmaker (see avatar). Currently still studying at the Dutch filmschool, but involved in some professional productions. All Dutch of course.
At the moment I'm a sound engineer, that includes sound recording as well as sound designing, editing and mixing. However, I'm writing a script for a 5 minute film which I want to direct myself next year. Basically I read some posts of this forum and that gave me a good idea to fit in 5 minutes.
I already have further plans for a 15 minute film and a 25 minute film. After that, I think I'll go for 90 minutes, but that's so far into the future, I'll see if I like it as much as I think I will

I now go and check out your forum.

What kind of Camcorder would I need to shoot a movie?
eveningsky339
Jul 3 2005, 01:58 AM
I've made like, 20 documentaries with a camcorder. Me and my buds would get together on a long weekend and do something to make a documentary about. Usually a road trip to somewhere like North Carolina or Mississippi. We went to Arkansas once but let's just say we had a problem with a trucker. Made for a funny documentary though.

Ah, the memories...We still watch them, about an hour in length, still funny as crap. We're thinking about doing something this 4th of July, maybe a little trip to Kentucky.
