I too have heard this story. From what I can remember, this is accurate, with the exception that many of the animals had become so hungry that just before they died, they began cannibalism, eating one another in a sad attempt to stay alive. Only they were tied and tethered and it made no difference.
It does seem spooky that something like this could happen. Think back. Does anyone remember the mystery of the settlers of America.
Ranoke Island or somthing like that. An enitre village dropped off and before ships could return, everyone was gone. On a large rock there were some carvings in a language that no person understood or could identify.
Too strange to just be a coincidence, don't you think???
