Too bad that by the time you have the garden finished, they will be worshipping a new Human! What are your going to do then? Burn them in fiery fires for all eternity? Sorry, that was a rather inane analogy. rolleyes.gif

I thought it was a very sweet parable of the creation mythos.

Please give us more Anson. I'm particularly interested in what happens to the non-believer ants when they finally reach the garden.

Oh, and what were you feeling, listening to the ants relate the 'legend' to their young?

The ants yes are like us. we all have had our parents orv an elder tell us what to believe. Do we believe that there is going to be a garden(heaven) once we are ready to go there or when God has decided we are ready for heaven. I believe that is what I must do. If I didn't all my sorrows would consume me., Then I wouldn't be able to go on. We like the ants must work and work and try to get ourselves prepared for Heaven. I really liked your story it was deep. 101 thumbsup.gif

You could change the ants to bees tongue.gif and write another one using the bees as an example wub.gif
P.S. Can't wait til the garden is ready, sometimes it feels like eternity but I will always hang on to that hope thumbsup.gif

not me! my elders taught me to question everything, accept nothing, to not be misled by authority, that i answer to nobody but myself (ultimately), to be open minded and not mistake a high likelihood as an absolute.... i could go on.

Sorry, but the idea of working and working to prepare for a "heaven" just reduces everything about this life to nothingness for me. If that was the only option i would become suicidal. Life is about being a part of the system we are now in, not in preparing for death. But religion lasts i guess because so many people are content to be artifically limited, i.e stuck in a mental cage, becuase of the false sense of security it provides! I lost my security blanket when i was 4, and have no need or desire for another one, by any name.

edit:
on a similar "story" note:

there was a young girl, but 5 years old. One day, while her mother prepared the family feast she saw her mother constantly checking the turkey in the oven. She asked her mother why? her mother responded "thats the way i always have done it. my mother always did this when i was growing up". so with that the girl went and asked her grandmother why she always checked the turkey in the oven. the grandmother's response was "the oven didn't work too well, so i had to make sure it was staying on". With that the girl went back to her mother and passed on the granmother's reply. The mother replyed "oh my, now why didn't i ever ask why she did that?".

the "moral" being just because generations of people have done something, does not mean there is any sense to it all.

Thats a great analogy Anson. I think you are very creative some of the best truths I know were expained to me in that form. Our entire existance could be but one hour for our creator and while we see death and distruction He is looking at eternity in the garden.
All The Best and tell us more!

It's interesting to hear how different people reply to the same story yes.gif

I think that just because your mom or dad did something doesn't make it alright. You must find what is right for you. I will work on being a better person and I wll know I will go to Heaven. although people do tend to do the same as their parents don't we all go into a rebelious stage. Where we do the exact opposite. We all have to find ourselves. We must all see what is right for us. And I am not suicidal. That isn't allowed in my religion you will go to Hell if you commit suicide.

being rebelious for the sake of rebellion and finding your own path are totally different.

to jouney on your own path takes commitment and resolution. you must find the path yourself and face the obsicles of the herd all the way while also not certian of what lay at the end of the path. it is not an easy journey and most people never really set out on the quest. most prefer to follow a herd for the most part while stepping a little away from it, but never really leaving (keeping the safety of the herd while superficially being independant).

i left the herd.

I respect the fact you have left the herd. 101

I Like your story a lot Anson_Kail but its inspired by your faith, I don't think we are here to wait for god in my opinion and humans are a lot more chaotic then ants! Good read anyway simple and gets to the point, Is there a part 3 to your story?

That was a very beautiful and touching story..original.gif

Anson_Kail, nice story happy.gif

I would not however worry too much about those little ants that do not believe in you. When the times comes they will perhaps go look out of curiosity or perhaps stay. It does not matter in the end, if they wish to stay, it is their choice.

Even if we are all stuborn sometimes in our ideas, we are too curious not to take a look. Any skeptic I am sure as wondered at least once about spirituality and if ever a paradise does come, I am sure that after some time their curiosity would win over them.

In our hearts we are all seekers and wish for a greater purpose. For now we learn to enjoy what we have but given the opportunity of something greater, I am sure that many would poke their head to take a look tongue.gif

I... love.... this.... story. It's beautiful. =D
draconic chronicler
I happened to discover one of these "ant raids" in the process and it was very fascinating. The typical "Army ants" would simply eat the captured larvae, but the ants in question, a different species commonly called "slaver ants" are such specialist fighters that they cannot forage or tend their young. Without the "slaves" they would die.

A "slaver" colony is started when a the large formidible, newly mated queen discovers a "slave" colony, forces her way into the original queen's chamber, and bites her head off. The workers accept the new queen, but only slaver ants are born for now on. When the slaves die off, expeditions are sent out to capture more "babies" (pupae and larvae), to keep the colony going. So it is true that humans are not the only creatures that enslave other species.
