The current egyptian king list comes to us from Ptolomy, not the king, the librarian.
The vatican also got the doctrine of the earth being at the center of the universe from the same guy.
All these works and others come to us today via the vatican.
the vatican can only have got that information from alexandria.
When they bruned the books they must have read them all first and taken what they needed.

I thought the Egyptian King Lists were by Manetho.

The modern lists are based on several works
originally all they used was Ptolomy's Canon
It isn't a big cylinder used for blowing away the infidel you know.
well in anything but a metaphorical sense at least

Manetho compiled the original list. He lived in the time of Ptolemy I. Unfortunately, the original work has never been found and references to it from other works, that vary considerably in some texts, have been used to try and sort it all out.
