A five-year-old boy reached into his breakfast cereal box - and came face to face with a live snake.

Jordan Willett, from Telford, thought he'd found a free toy in the box of Golden Puffs, reports the Shropshire Star.

But he ran out of the kitchen when the two foot long corn snake reared up its head.

Jordan was making himself breakfast, while his dad Lee Loveitt enjoyed a lie-in.

Mr Loveitt said the snake had been slithering around in the box, outside the unopened cereal wrapper.

He said: "The first I knew of it was when I heard Jordan screaming from the kitchen."

Local Netto store manager Steven Humphries said he was shocked. An investigation has been launched.

<SHIVER> My boys wouldn't have run from the room. I would have heard "Cmon Mom. Can we keep him?"
XSAS

I can't see how this happened, disgruntled worker or a family trying to make a claim?

Yep, only they would have brought it to me in bed, shoved it in my face and said "MOM! Look what we got!" Now, I'm afraid to go buy cereal. Pop-Tarts will have to do. lol.....

My thoughts exactly! People should learn from the lesson of the lady who said she found a finger in her bowl of chilli and she ended up being arrested for fraud!

Well, like it says on the package: "A PRIZE IN EVERY BOX!" grin2.gif

Btw, corn snakes are harmless aren't they?
SCARLET1
Yeah, that would be interesting...open box, reach hand in to dig around for the prize (we never looked, just felt for it. Now that I think about it, I can't believe we ate cereal that our two other siblings might have touched before us...), and pull out hand, complete with coiled snake...

BTW, Elfstone, No, corn snakes are not dangerous. They'll bite, when provoked, but not venemous. (I for one, LOVE snakes, though I won't keep one as a pet)

Yep, harmless as a fly. I own one (pyro) and all he does it get cranky on me and try to bite me.

That is the ONLY way I would get a snake as a pet, otherwise... no.gif I want a snake...

The snake probably just climbed into the box, in the peoples house.

You know how most people just fold over the plastic part and stick the box opened back into the cupboard. I didn't read anywhere that it was a sealed box.
