Okey doke. I figured I'd see if anyone can help out.

I just set up my old Compaq PC for my kids - attached to my old HP monitor.

The screen resolution is STUCK (the little slider bar) at 640x480 (or whatever the smallest is).

I have updated the drivers, uninstalled the NVidea graphics card + reinstalled with new drivers, tried all sorts of stuff.

Any other ideas?

Can the monitor support resolutions higher than 640x480 ? If it's an old monitor it might only have limited screen resolution capability.

If it can support higher, try looking for a new monitor driver on the manufacturer's web site which supports your Operating System.

Oh yes -- it can go up at least 3 jumps more than that (I don't recall the exact numbers)

And I already got the newest drivers for my OpS. sad.gif

Thanks for trying to help anyway.

try attaching the old monitor to your real computer and see if the res stays the same or if it goes to 640x480, if it goes to 640x480 (or you get an error) then your monitor can not support the higher res, if the monitor does adject problem free on your real computer than it is a driver problem on your computer you set up for your kids

What kind of OS?
Graphics Card?
Purplos
I know the monitor accepts higher Res because I did use it on my new comp (until I got my flat panel). I have downloaded and installed the newest driver that NVidea had on the kid's comp.

Windows ME (argh)
NVidea TNT2 M64 PRO

Win ME is one big glitch.
Ok, first of all, check that your driver has been properly installed. Go to display, properties, and see if it identifies your card correctly. If it does, the driver might not be working very well with ME. Try finding a different driver, maybe a bit older version. Before you install it, go to Add Device Wizard, or whatever its called on ME, and install a VGA adaptor. Then go do Device Manager, and remove the TNT driver. Then install the TNT driver again. It might be that you didn't properly uninstalled the previous driver which is now conflicting with the TNT. Good luck.
