The cola wars get personal
Coke employee fired for drinking Pepsi on the job.
June 13, 2003: 5:33 PM EDT
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The big difference between drinking a Coke or a Pepsi could be a pink slip, as one Coke employee discovered Thursday.
The Teamsters union allege a Coke (KO: Research, Estimates) delivery truck driver was fired for drinking a Pepsi (PEP: Research, Estimates) on the job in violation of Coke's policies aimed to prevent slander against the company and its products.

What's next?
Marlboro employees fired for smoking Lucky Strikes? Levis employees fired for wearing Wranglers? Ford employees fired for owning Peugots? Whiskas employees fired for giving their cat KittyKat?

Using Tampon Brand instead of Tampax?
Using Trojan instead of other condoms?
You could be caught and you are in DANGER of losing your job!
That's nonsense really...

I have the solution ~ give all the employees the products for FREE!
That should ensure that they (at least) use the right product on the
company's premises.

(well, maybe something as expensive as
a car, they would lease them...very reasonably)

Personally I think that this is wrong, he should be able to drink anything that he likes, and if Coca Cola find people are drinking other brands and not theirs then I would take that as people not liking the cola that they make.

That's a great idea KC.
If the company is going to insist on something so trivial, then I don't see it as unreasonable if they pay for it

I don't know and Coca-Cola employees personally, but I would imagine that they do recieve a certian amount of product for free. I know this happens with other beverage (beer) companies.
Chances are, Coca-Cola's decision would be upheld if he complained about it based on an employer's prefrence clause. You aren't acting like a very professional Coca-Cola employee by drinking a Pepsi.

How is that slanderous? Hmmmmm....maybe I'm missing something....it seems like as long as he wasn't advertising or promoting drinking the other brand, than he wasn't doing anything wrong. Thats like firing a waitress who eats at a different restaurant.

I don't know Delacorr if you're a man or a woman, but if you're a man it's kinda scary that you know that there is a tampon brand and a tampax brand, but you only mentioned one name for a condom brand.
Unless you work in a tampon factory?????

You'd think his bosses would be happy that he wasn't stealing Cola product on the job. He purchased the Pepsi with his own money.
