LONDON (Reuters) - A woman has been awarded nearly 30,000 pounds compensation by a London court after her dream holiday in Barbados turned out to be a nightmare of leaking roofs, frayed furniture and a bumbling butler.

Janet Keppel-Palmer paid 88,000 pounds for a month-long family holiday over the Millennium in what was described as a luxury villa at the Royal Westmoreland resort near Bridgetown, Barbados.

What she found fell far short of what she had expected -- the pool was tiny, the garden overgrown, windows had no glass and the butler's only skill was making rum punches.
