THAT'S MY KIND OF 'CAT'!!

My girlfriend and I live in an apt, and were thinking about getting a cat -- she just found out, however, that hers was hit by a car last night, and now she's really down, and doesn't know that she still wants to get one, because she doesnt' want to seem like she's "replacing" the one that she lost.

I feel really bad for her. sad.gif What should I do? Try to persuade her to GET another cat? Or just be happy with her not wanting to at the moment?
girty1600
That's so sad. crying.gif You two should wait a bit before you get a new cat but you should still get one. yes.gif

Hey!

So, a lady at my girlfriend's work had another kitten that they had to get rid of today -- they were either going to give it away to someone, or take it to the SPCA. Well, my girlfriend spoke with her, and is bringing it home today. It's no particular breed, but I hear he's the cutest little grey and white fur ball. He's 7 weeks old, and hasn't had any shots or anything -- so hopefully after today, we'll have a little friend roaming around the apt. with us. grin2.gif

Excited. ::

Ohhh, yay kitties. happy.gif

I love cats, my boyfriend does too. He's actually afraid of dogs.

Here's a picture of my kitty. Her name is Regelleto.

We took a ton of pics this weekend, so I figured I'd show all you guys if you're interested. We named him "Patches", and you can probably tell why from the pictures. He's about 8 or 9 weeks old, and totally cute.

Girty, How long have you had yours? She(?) looks pretty young yes.gif
girty1600
She is five years old; she is just a petite little thing. grin2.gif Cute though, huh?

Edit; Unafragger, you have one good looking kitty there! thumbsup.gif

I want to hug her.

Serious question? Is it true female cats are easier to tame than Male cats? Because I've only ever had female cats, with the exception of Ginger, who -although very intelligent - never was much of a house cat.
girty1600
I can't say that there is any truth in that; the "nicest" cats I ever had were actually male. My Logan kitty sprayed a bit before I had him neutered but other than that *shrugs* My girl kitties have always been a bit pretentious and snobby.

You can hug her if you like; she likes it. wub.gif
Walken
laugh.gif My cats like that too, but it has to be the way you hug them.

For example, if Scullys on my bed I can't hug her unless I've curled around her back first rofl.gif

Of course, when you pick up a cat to hug you must always hold the cat beneath their behind yes.gif

Cat know-how *taps nose*
girty1600
Audrey likes having her tail petted, weird. blink.gif She is on my lap pawing the keyboard as we speak. grin2.gif *meow* she says "hi".
Walken
Mew-meow-purr-meow

*I'll pick you up at 8, perhaps?*

One thing I've noticed through first hand experience only, is that cats have a very sensitive area on their backs, close to their tails. Some like being touched there and others hate it. Scully hates it and Mulder likes it. yes.gif
girty1600
I think it's a kind of "tickle" spot which would explain why some like it and others don't. Audrey loves it but only for a minute; after that she bites and runs away! laugh.gif
Walken
laugh.gif I do notice that after periods of excessive pleasure, like if you tickle the bottom of their neck for a couple of hours straight, they will suddenly have a flash of aggression and need to cool down for a minute or two.
girty1600
Yes, over stimulation of the kitty might result in a wound or two.

I love cats so much. Today I found out I have to sit in an anatomy class for the rest of the year while I work independently with my digital graphics stuff on the computer. I am like completely alone in that class, other than the anatomy kids. And the anatomy kids are going to be disecting cats for TWO MONTHS STRAIGHT. I don't think I can take that. I don't think I can sit in that classroom on the computer knowing they are cutting open my lovely kitties. No no no...
coldwhitelight
Declawing a cat is a inhumane act and a lot of don't people realize it. Unlike most mammals who walk on the soles of the paws or feet, cats are digitigrade, which means they walk on their toes. The cat's claw is not a nail as in a human fingernail, it is part of the last bone in the cat's toe. Declawing is actually an amputation. Why would a person even conceder declawing?

I posted this because I wanted to hear what other people thoughts on declawing.

I posted a pic of my kitty already on another topic, but here is another of his face that only a mother could love. LOL  wub.gif  He is my best buddy though.
I have 3 outside cats.  My son is allergic to haired cats, therefore Izzy works out better in the house.  Less dander.

w00t.gif I can't believe I missed this thread! When I was growing up, I couldn't have cats as my mother was allergic to them. She always told me when I was older and on my own I could have as many pets as I want. I can't tell you how many pets I've had since then. Our precioius himalayan (seal point), passed away a few years ago, he was my pride and joy who I loved the best and miss the most. Currently sharing my life with 2 cats, a few small birds, and an aquatic turtle. The last cat we aquired by rescuing the poor little thing. She slept in a dumpster and ate whatever scraps of food people would toss her way where my husband and I are employed. Straya is a deaf white persian . She was like a wildcat when we rescued her and terrified of everyone and everything. She'd hiss and growl and run away and hide. With a lot of love patience and time, she is now a sweet and loving little creature. Ariel is a calico tiger mix who we adopted from a shelter years ago, another sweetie! wub.gif

Here are some recent pics of the Pride.

McCormick "Mickey" 7 year old Persian, 22 lbs, ASPCA adult shelter kitty. Hint, he's the gigantic black furry one.

Audrey 6 year old black short hair, 5.5 lbs, rescued from the city streets as a kitten.

Tom Servo 1 year old spotty random mutt kitty, 7 lbs, ASPCA shelter kitten.

This is my cat, Cuddles, she is rather upset with me in that picture because she is on her leash. I got her from a no kill shelter for my late wife. She is a great comfort for me, I don't know what I would to with out her.
