More than 700 people packed a church in Germany for a service in memory of Isobel Callaghan who was swept to her death in a tragic balloon accident at the weekend.Mourners paid tribute to the "little angel" during the hour-long service at St Boniface Church as the town of Rheindalen stood still in silent tribute.Tragedy struck shortly after midday on Sunday when the five-year-old became entangled in the mooring ropes of a runaway helium balloon at an international military show in the town.
A cable holding the 12ft balloon broke free during a fierce storm and wrapped itself around her arm.
Spectators at Joint Headquarters in Rheindalen, near the German city of Moenchengladbach, watched in horror as the youngster was swept into the air and out of sight.
Within minutes a desperate search was launched, but two hours later her body was found in the small town of Hamminkeln about 40 miles away.
The Rev Philip Majcher, of the Royal Army Chaplins Department, told the service he was touched by the faith and utter trust in God shown by the youngster's parents, Robert and Hannalore.
"They truly believe that their little angel is now in heaven," he told the congregation.
The couple and their son Stuart, four, who are still being comforted by friends and specially-trained bereavement counsellors, were unable to attend the service.
