Yeh..! John lennon is or was in the band the Beatles..! This event probably was the inspiration for the song, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds...?
fallingalien

There is quite an intersting list of celebs that have seen UFO's amongst them are Muhammad Ali, Bogart, John Wayne, one of the US Presidents, James Stewart... just to name a few.
JMPD1
Jimmy Carter was the US President who reported seeing a UFO.

But, he also claims he was attacked by a rabbit.......

'The sighting, and how it perhaps influenced his later life'

Ok this site is taking the **** now. It may well have happened, but the evidence for it is not very strong, the site doesn't seem very reliable. It may well have happened, but I don't think it really means much, since a lot of you guys have seen UFOs

Lucy in the sky is about tripping on drugs. thumbsup.gif
Mr Ed
No I don't think it is. His son (I think) drew a picture for him and then told john that the girl he had drawn in the sky was called Lucy, im guessing that the stars were the diamonds. However, I wouldn't disagree with you if you said strawberry fields forever was about drugs.
Also, I seriously doubt this 'sighting' was any inspiration to john lenon, I think its a bit insulting and presumptious to say so.
Walken
As a HUGE Beatles Fan there is more to this than just this.

John also had recurring dreams in which he met Extra Terrestrials, and once gave a graphic discription of one to his friend, Yuri Gellar, describing a light at his window then aliens approaching his bed, with huge eyes and along arms and fingers.

I beleive he only saw one UFO awake.
dunderhead
My God what have I started here..? Cant anyone see beyond my first post..? I'm refering to his state of mind at the time..! I don't care about the song..? mad.gif
Walken
Then how would that explain the recurring dreams? tongue.gif

No one's yet mentioned the line 'There's UFOs over New York and I ain't too surprised'? Now that must be a reference to a sighting he once had? hmm.gif
Mr Ed
Argh I think you are at risk of making out john lenon's musical success being down to his UFO 'experience', I know this hasn't been said yet, but the way the comments are heading...
fallingalien
well, my dad told me about the sighting adn I looked it up. you guys can look it up too to see what you find. didn't people say they have dreams after they have been taken by aliens? maybe john did? also, john was nude whe he took the pictures.

"Strawberry Fields Forever," I have read, was about a Salvation Army which Lennon knew of.

penny lane was the name of a street in liverpool,i thought strawberry fields was a park near lennon's childhood home?i always heard that lennon wrote lucy in the sky with diamonds after a painting his 4 year old sun julian made in his kindergarten class,i also heard pau,l george, and ringo say the same thing!

People only care about Lennon seeing a UFO because he's famous. If anyone else had experienced the same thing, no one would care.

And Mr Ed, what's wrong about seeing UFO's? And being "at risk of making out john lenon's musical success being down to his UFO 'experience'" is not a bad thing. Everyone needs inspiration. Lennon had written many more songs than "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". We'll never know what really gave him the inspiration, he's dead.
Mr Ed
I never said that there is anything wrong with seeing UFO's! I think when people start heading down the lines of- 'wow all of those songs must have been inspired by a UFO sighting', is going way too far.
Im sure he must have talked about what inspired him...its not all inspiration either- he was a musical genius...
I think it is a 'bad thing' being at risk of putting his whole musical career down to his UFO experience/s. I personally feel it is ridiculous.
I am not a hardcore skeptic even if I have portrayed myself this way.

Ah, but the question is 'was it drug fueled?'.
