Hello,
I am very interested in religious phenomena. Of ANY religion, regardless of whether or not you belong to a faith or not.
I would like for everyone here who has experienced religious phenomena to please write your experience here, if you would be so kind!

THanks! devil.gif

I have a few experiences that some people would maybe consider religious, while I think there are natural explanations to them. If you mean by religious experiences something like 50 angels coming with fiery chariots to tell me a holy prophecy of a forthcoming judgement of gods, I don't have any. tongue.gif

When I was 13, I was walking home late with a friend of mine, his name was Craig. We were in a conversation about God, because my friend had heard a sermon or Sunday school lesson earlier encouraging the members of the congregation to invite God into their daily life. He was trying to figure out what it meant...could you actually invite God to come along and hang out with you? I don't think the conversation was really totally serious...we didn't know anything about God, we were trying to figure out if God really was interested in the day to day mischief of two troublemakers.

We walked past his church on our way home and the light inside the building illuminated the stained glass image of Jesus knelt in prayer. Craig stopped, looked at me and suggested we kneel there under the stained-glass window and invite God to "hang out" with us. We did. We knelt in front of the church and prayed something casual like, "God, we'd like you to come out and join us. Hang out, have some fun..."

At once something happened. It was palpable. Craig and I looked at each other at same time...I was in disbelief. He looked at me wide-eye and his mouth hung open. I remember being enveloped in a loving, peaceful wave. I cannot explain the feeling properly...it was as if someone had dropped a giant bucket of water on top of us, but it wasn't something physical...it was an overwhelming feeling of well being and security.

We got up at once...hysterical and overjoyed. We thanked God by saying "thank you" to the stained-glass window and went home thrilled, a little overwhelmed.

i don't really have a specific event. i was raised in the southern united states and i attended church with my cousin and i witnessed the speaking in tongues phenomenon a few times. THAT was interesting for a 10 year old. ohmy.gif

to start, im very spiritual, but not religious. i dont necessarily believe in god, but i do believe very strongly in the possibility. i think the word is agnostic? anyway, i was on my 10 min break at work one day, smoking outside, of course. i looked up at the sky and it looked so amazing. to the right, the clouds were dark, calm, and looked very peaceful. the clouds to the left were bright and lit up with the colors of fire. in-between, going from right to left were dozens of smaller white clouds that looked like angels. probably just a coincidence, but i still thought it was neat.

First off, I am not a religous person but here goes my story. When I lived in England I lived in the first floor of some dorms. One day I was at work and my suite mate (rooms were connected in the middle by a short hallway with a kitchen and bathroom) called and said, "Hey man can you hear that?" It sounded like a waterfall. Apparently someone upstairs left the water in the tub running and left their room without turning it off. Our rooms got flooded so I had to move to another dorm room. I managed to salvage many things but lots of stuff was destroyed. After thinking I had moved everything I realized I had left my diploma on a high shelf in my closet, moving in the dark with just a flash light in a water filled room I had forgotten it.

I had talked to the dorm manager to see if the workers who were repairing the room had found it and brought it back. He said anything left in the room was thrown away. So I could only now picture my diploma sitting in a british landfill somewhere. 2 years later I moved back to the good ole USA. I was getting ready to enroll in college, and remembered my diploma was gone. I told my dad that story. Later on that day, my mom was getting ready for church. She is in the church choir. She came out saying look what just fell out of my choir music book. I don't know how it got there.

Yes, it was my diploma. My mom had not heard the story and my dad was with me the whole time so he couldnt have told her. Though I thought it must be some ellaborate hoax to get me to believe in god or something. So I picked it up and examined it. Things my parents wouldn't have known cuz I didnt tell them. One, the outside cover had a small dent from my duffle bag zipper, happened while moving to England. Two, it had a copy of my birth certificate in it, which I had carefully folded and put in there so all my valuable documents would be in one place, which sorta backfired. Sure enough, the dent from the zipper was there, and so was the certificate. It was the real deal indeed. My parents wouldnt go through trouble for such a hoax. It freaked me out a bit. I am still not religious, but that is some weird stuff.

I am still baffled to this day on how my diploma that should be sitting in a dump somewhere ended up in my moms church choir book. This ties into another event which is another long story but I won't get into that now.

I once lost my class ring and knew if I didn't find it my mom would kill me. I was to the point of crying when I prayed about it. When I looked up, it was on my dresser. Does this qualify? original.gif
